Great public area (front desk, bar, restaurant)
Very welcoming reception staff, always polity and efficient. 24h reception service and night porter were very friendly.
They offer free internet access (wi-fi) It was great and receptionist was very happy to help me to access to it as I am not very good at computers.
Restaurant just serve breakfast (it was lovely and well served) and for dinner I was recommend a restaurant just around the corner.
The room was very basic but had everything I needed and was spot on clean.

Don't be decieved by appearances, from the outside and reception the Kings Hotel looks very nice but.......
Our room was tatty and extremely hot, window would only open 3 inches and no air-con. Bath looked like it hadn't been cleaned. Room staff also read personal correspodence that i'd left folded up on the dressing table. Room was so small the draw on the bedside cabinet wouldn't open due to it being jammed in behind the radiator. Room keys must be handed in each time you go out, a blessing really... afterall who wants to carry around a keyring the size of a baseball bat!! Noise from the main road was constant; asked to be moved in the end.
After the first day our hand towels disappeared and were not replaced; we asked at reception for replacements and were given floor towels. These were removed the following day and not replaced at all. Same thing happened with the drinking glasses.
Breakfast was good but small, not much more than child portions. Breakfast room staff would quite often ignore diners waiting to be seated. Tables would be cleared while people were still eating.
Hotel advertises a car park, this quickly gets booked up and they don't mention the cost is £15 a night: it's actually cheaper to park at the Regency public car park a hundred yards down the road.
Bar prices were high at £3.20 for a basic pint. I was quite often left standing at the bar for ages waiting to be served.
Based on the poor standard of the rooms and staff who really couldn't have caredless i'd say this hotels rating of 3* is very misleading, 1* would be more appropriate.

The newly decorated reception and bar are misleading, as are the prices. Booked a sea view double with late checkout, one night cost £175. Was expecting luxury for that price but the room was basic and shabby. There was no option for room service for breakfast and it was really difficult getting hold of reception staff. I was really disappointed, and would not recommend the Kings Hotel - it could ruin a special occasion.

Reception and bar area average but I was very disappointed with my room... I had a single room on 5th floor.. room very very basic and small and extremely hot.. could only open window slightly and no air con or fans available.. also had a constant rattling throughout the night on my door as there was a slight wind blowing down the corridor.
I would return to this accommodation but would insist on a very cheap deal and would only book a twin or double... very good location though.

We arrived to be ignored by the reception staff, which then didn't have much to say to us when they did acknowledge our presence! The hotel had been advertised to have parking, but we were told that the car park was full and that we had to find somewhere else. The room was clean and pleasant, but very warm. As there was no air-con we opened the window, to find that our sea view also came with full-on traffic noise.
In the morning we went down to breakfast to be told that we had to wait in the bar as there were no tables available. When we did get a table the food took around 20 minutes to arrive, and the music playing in the restaurant did not seem to fit with the classy image that the hotel tries to put across on its website. The reception failed to redeem them when we checked out - they didn't smile, ask if we'd enjoyed our stay, or in fact say anything really!
If this hotel had cost us 60 quid it would have been value for money, but it cost more than twice that and really, really wasn't. Very disappointing.

Just returned fron thankfully only one night in the so called 3-Star hotel.
I have travelled the world over the past 38-years & would be ashamed to book an overseas friend in this hotel! At £120 per night (twin) it is cheaper to stay in a luxury hotel in Hong Kong or Las Vegas!!!!
Bedrooms with almost no ventilation (as mentioned in other reviews) not even a towel rail in the chipped & cracked bathroom - the toilet had a huge crack which had been poorly repaired with cement.
Shower was impossible to control - either scalding hot - or cold.
The rooms a small hot & noisy - you can hear everything from the floors above & by the side - peeling wallpaper & lumpy beds.
Car parking a joke! - this hotel has approx 90 rooms with only 11 parking spaces - so "limited" is a bit of an understatment.
The reception & bar staff do their best - but at £120 per night you would not expect burn holes in the lounge seating & the whole area is starting to look very tired.
I would never use this hotel again.
