Important! Please read.
Before we went away we made sure that we checked out the hotel online to see that it would be a suitable place to stay.
The room that we got when we arrived was completely different to the rooms that had been pictured on the web page. The best part of the room was the balcony!
The toilet door couldn’t even be opened to its full extent as the bathroom was so small.
There was an orangey coloured substance all over the floor of the shower and hair blocking the plug hole. We thought nothing of it as we decided we would only be sleeping in the room, but we were still a little disappointed.
The pool was a lovely size with plenty of sun loungers and sun throughout the day, and the hotel was situated in a great place.
Breakfast was served at the Juniper Hotel and dinner and tea were served at the Siesta Hotel directly opposite. My first impressions of dinner were that there wasn't much choice. There was rice and chips a vegetarian option and a meat option.
Upon asking on what type of meat it was, the reply was simply "meat". You couldn’t even serve yourselves. There was plenty of salads to choose from, although I found it slightly strange to see chilled mashed potato, brussel sprouts and broccoli.
When attending for tea I was disappointed to find rice and chips again. Little did I know that apart from on two occasions, this is what we would be receiving for dinner and tea every day for two weeks along with the same salads and desserts.
Both myself and my partner could not face this every day and ended up eating out on numerous occasions. Hence paying twice.
We also visited a supermarket and bought a few bits for the room, a packet of biscuits happened to vanish into thin air when only one had been eaten. We spoke to the receptionist about this, who told us that the staff had been with them for six years and would not do such a thing, so we let it go.
A friend of ours went to put a pair of shorts on to travel home in and found that they were also missing, strangely enough a few days later when my partner went to put a pair of shorts on they had also gone missing. We absolutely turned the room upside down before saying anything and when we did complain, we got the same answer as we did when the biscuits went. They were just not interested.
Apart from not being able to have shower due to lack of water unless you went up before five o clock, our sheets and towels not being changed for 11 days, the drain in our bathroom absolutely stinking and the last straw of being kicked out of our room at 11am the day before we were due to leave, we had a lovely time.
Just please don’t stay in this hotel. If anything is unacceptable or there is a problem, there is absolutely no effort made to make your stay more comfortable.

On our arrival at the Juniper hotel...

Jul 2007, Mr S Armstrong

On our arrival at the Juniper hotel we were met by very friendly staff. After checking in we made our way to our room which was a reasonable size but rather dull.
Being told there was a mini bar in our room we discovered it was just an empty fridge!! (at a cost of 3 Turkish Lira per day). There were no pillows on the bed and there were no towels. A quick call to reception resolved this straight away.
The air conditioning (at 3 pounds per day) was not very good. You cannot control the power and it was very weak. Also the air-con unit on the balcony was leaking and our balcony was constantly flooded. Only when the air-con above our beds started to leak water were we moved rooms!
It seemed there was only one cleaner and our room was not always cleaned. The dust along the head board of the bed was disgusting! The floor was never mopped and shower never cleaned. That brings me onto the shower. The water pressure was high no it was low oh it was high again! Impossible to control the temperature and if you got a hot/warm shower you were one of the lucky ones!
The only really attractive feature about the hotel was the pool area. It is lovely and the pool is a good size.
The staff in general are very friendly and usually keen to help you out. The breakfast at the hotel was not too bad although please Juniper hotel get real orange juice not squash!
One thing were were not told by the hotel that for 10 pounds a day you can go all inclusive. Not worth it! There are so many excellent restaurants especially Kerems and The Wayside in Icmeler you will be spoilt for choice. Would I stay at the Juniper again - No! Would i go back to Icmeler again - a resounding YES!

Jul 2007, Mrs A Archer

What can I say? Having been a constant traveller for 20 years I have never stayed in such an awful hotel. Had to change my room 3 times on first day.
Doors don’t lock from inside so hopeless if travelling with a toddler or small child.
Finally given a room at top as they had locks on but it was dirty, tiny, no water, I actually got locked in the bathroom as the door jammed. My husband had to call maintenance to saw the lock and eventually smash door open after a terrified 20 mins locked in, imagine if there was only me there with my two year old in the room, doesn’t bear thinking about.
We then decided to move ourselves to a lovely 5 star called the aqua, for our own sanity. Spent 5 nights there lovely hotel.
On our return to the dreaded juniper to pick up our transfer back to airport the manager insisted we pay him for the 2 days of air conditioning and fridge ha ha ha you’ve got to be kidding I told him. We did not pay him.
My sisters also stayed there and were totally horrified by the place as were a lot of the very pleasant guests. Also got no apology from staff for the locking in bathroom fiasco.. They said.. it can happen at home... Yes, but then we haven’t had to shell out 500 pounds for the pleasure.

Sep 2006, Mr W Moran

Prior to our holiday we search these engines and read up on the juniper, and something, not sure what, put us off. But it was a late booking and we thought, what the hell lets give it a go. And we are very glad we did.
We arrived at the hotel late afternoon, and were made to feel welcome instantly, we had a very minor problem and it was sorted within seconds.
The rooms are as people say small, but in saying that there was plenty of storage space, there were three in our room and there was more than enough space for our belongings. And after all we only showered, changed and slept in the room, so who needs the space. The bathroom was on the small side but again you could do everything in there you needed too, without feeling claustrophobic.
The balcony was also very small as we were in one of the gable end rooms, but the rest of the hotel rooms, the balconies were of a good size. The rooms have a mini-bar (fridge) in them and stocked with, pop crisps, chocolate, water and the legendary Efes, all of which were of a reasonable price. The rooms were cleaned every other day, sometimes everyday. The bedding and towels were changed every other day, the lady who cleaned our room was fantastic, I didn’t get her name but nothing was too much trouble.
The breakfast is traditionally Turkish, with a slight hint of the west, this being cereal, plain and chocolate. (Although not a famous name).
The pool is a good size, and very clean. The sun hits the pool around 9 and is leaving around 6, so it gets quite warm as the day goes on. The pool area was also kept clean, and should anything have happened (i.e. glass smashed) the waiters were there to sort it right away. Watch out for the sun bed worshippers, you have to be up very early to claim your sun bed, some of who would put there towel on the bed then go out for most of the day, which I must say began to annoy me as my holiday went on. Just ask Fatih and he will get you a bed from the sister hotel (siesta) which is across the road, so no need to worry if the beds are all gone, there is always a way to win.
I have to thank a few people from the hotel who made our holiday they are Tolga, Arron and Fatih think that’s the right spelling) if you visit the juniper all the staff make you feel very welcome and nothing is to much trouble, but these 3 people were absolutely fantastic and deserve all the thanks they get. Once again thank you.
Icmeler itself is a fantastic place to holiday. Nearly every restaurant serves a fantastic meal at very reasonable prices, with 'the olde famous kitchen, international dream boys, Venice and the three bells (near tansas) being our favourite, if you like Yorkshire puddings with your Sunday roast, try the three bells, theirs are like pillow cases.
Haven’t been to Icmeler since the new airport terminal had opened, i have to say what a massive difference, no queuing in the sun, in fact no queuing at all, we were through the airport in no time.
The transfer with perfect choice was also very good, making Icmeler in 1 hour 30 mins.
I have to say Icmeler was very quiet this year, the locals put it down to the bird flu and the world cup so hopefully if the bombings cease it should be a bit livelier next year, and my family and I can’t wait, we have found Heaven on earth.

The hotel rooms are basic but are...

Aug 2006, Mrs J Barnes

The hotel rooms are basic but are cleaned daily and fresh towels when you need them. The 4th floor rooms are very small but myself and 2 children were in 1 room and we managed on the 1st floor. The air con is recommended but it is £3.00 a night so can be expensive if like us you have 2 rooms.
The staff in the hotel where fantastic and nothing was to much trouble for them. We have 3 children and they were constantly entertained by fattah and tolga who work around the pool and bar.
Little ones take your arm bands as the pool is deep and the kids pool is small the arm bands out there are not up to much so take your own. It’s in a good location within easy reach of everything you need and is away from the noise of the livelier bars, there is a very good pancake house next door with lovely hosts.
Go and see the stella show which is near the marina its a drag show its free and well worth a visit its hilarious but there is bad language so if you have children be prepared we took ours and they thought he was fantastic and a lot of it went over their heads - a great night out.
Also an excellent restaurant is amalias a 5 course meal is £6.50 and you can chose what you want of the menu and it’s excellent. We would definitely go back we had a ball and made some fantastic friends along the way both from here and in turkey who we are in touch with today.
Hope you enjoy it as much as we did! P.S. Be prepared for a early pick up from the hotel when you leave as they pick you up between 6 and 7 hours before you fly so bear this in mind when you are booking your flights its a long night but worth it.

Jul 2006, Miss C Osborne

We went to the Juniper hotel for 2 weeks B&B.
The rooms were basic and small but at the end of the day it was just somewhere to sleep. The breakfasts were also basic, jam, bread, boiled eggs, cereal and orange juice and tea. The pool is not that big but its ok as the hotel was small and wasn’t always busy.
The barmen at the pool bar Harron and Tolga are excellent and had a good laugh and made our holiday more fun. Also the Siesta hotel which is just over from the Juniper had great bar staff who also spoke to you. Everyone was friendly.
I would recommend the air conditioning which made a huge difference to the room, I don’t know what I would have done without it. There is also a mini bar with cola, sprite, efes (mmmm) crisps and sweets and they are reasonable price.
We also found a great fun bar and restaurant British owned by Sylvia and its called Sylvias. The bar staff in there are top notch and we went there most nights of our holiday, they do a buy one get one free offer on the drinks and fish bowls which we had nearly every night. The have bingo and play your cards right and karaoke and dancing to the Turkish music and learning the dances was great fun. Also the Sunday roast in there is great just like been back at home.
Can’t wait to go back and see everyone we met next year.

Hotel management and staff cannot be faulted. Hotel spotlessly clean and well run. all staff very friendly and helpful and will try to help you to have a good holiday.
Pool very clean and large enough for the guests staying there, no problems with obtaining a sun bed. Jacuzzi ideal to sit and cool off. English or Turkish break fasts available. restaurant serving great snacks all day and meals at night. Centrally located for the beach and bars etc.
We will be returning to this hotel.

Sep 2005, Mr R Sanderson

The hotel room was very clean with a daily maid service. Although the room was basic it had everything we needed for our two week stay.
The staff at the Hotel were friendly and helpful especially Steve the barman, nothing to much trouble for him. The pool was checked every day and the poolside was kept in good order. Icmeler is a fabulous place with good food and entertainment, wonderful people and marvellous scenery. Foot and drink cheep, serf and turf boat trips a must.

Aug 2005, Mr K Pendlington

A very friendly hotel. Staff were excellent, especially Steve at the poolside bar and Fatih the waiter. Hotel was very clean and maid service was excellent. Rooms on the 4th floor are smaller in size than floors 1,2 & 3. Bathroom in our 4th floor room was very tiny. Rooms at the rear of the hotel always had a sooty deposit on the balcony.
Breakfast was good with very fresh bread every morning.
Location is superb with no noise from bars etc. Very handy for beach, places to eat, shops and ATM machines.
Lunch around the pool is of very good quality with excellent choice.
This resort, coupled with the Juniper offered me and my family an excellent holiday. We did not want to return home and we will definitely be going back.

Jun 2005, Mr S Worthington

A great little hotel set off the main road in Icmeler.
the hotel was quite good with a great view on either side, one facing the mountains and the main street, the other facing the beach. The rooms were quite well sized, and recently refurbished.
The hotel staff were very polite as were many of the Turkish people in the resort.
