Stayed in Barcelona on a long weekend in August. It was very smelly. We’d sit outside for a nice meal or a drink and you’d get this awful whiff from their drains. Yuk. On the plus side the hotel was excellent, had it been nearer the centre it would have been a 4 star, but it was a really good 3 star.
Toiletries replenished daily, as were towels and sheets. Brilliant buffet breakfast which included everything you could think of plus champagne and cakes! The city itself was nice, did a tour bus trip which was worth it. The fountains on a Saturday night (finishes at 1130pm)was excellent. Beware of eating in the Ramblas. You get ripped off. We were 125 euros for 6 omelettes, 4 beers and 2 soft drinks!!! Plenty of other places to eat/drink.
Taxi from airport to hotel cost 25 euros each way approx. All in all a good weekend had by all, but wouldn’t go back in the summer time.

Reception staff very helpfull, there english was very good and didnt mind helping me and my friends ask stupid quiestion like 'what is chicken in spanish?' ended up having a laff and a joke with the staff everytime we went through reception!
Room was of an exceptional standard for a 3 star, nice and spacious, large clean bathroom. Sheets and towels were changed every day, couldnt have asked for anything more. Only downside is that with alot of european hotels there are no tea and coffe making facilities, but there was a lovely little bakery a few doors down which became our everyday breakfast spot.
Amazing location, very close to La Ramblas(approx 5min walk), although would advise before leaving the street you are on that you note down the name, as the streets are in in square grids every street looks the same, managed to get lost on the way back every nite.
Overall a brilliant hotel, have recomeneded to a few friends who are frequent travellors to the city. Would definatly stay here again if we go back.
