Submitted By: jayteeI will never go back to this hell hole of an island. It is full of brits who make a living out of stealing money from fellow brits. The Spanish people are great and I feel sorry for them as there must be thousands of holiday makers who never go back to Tenerife due to the scam merchants.

" The resort of Las Americas was very... "
Submitted By: Mr D ButcherThe Palm Beach Club apartments though, it was felt were cramped, and not large enough. We stayed in a 2 bed apartment, with a partial kitchen in the hallway (although they advertise full kitchens) and overall in size not large enough to swing a cat in. For a family of 5, this size apartment is not large enough, in comparison to some we were shown on the same complex. Even a resale’s person at the resort thought we were in a 1 bedroom apartment. Added to this, upon arrival to check in, we were presented with a 156 euro surcharge because we did not own as members there. A price I’m sure you'll agree is daylight robbery, especially as it is in addition to any other exchange fees you may have already paid out to get to the resort. This price was for a 2 bed, so it increases and decreases depending on what you have, but for timeshare exchangers, unless you are prepared for the charge, this is not the best type of resort to stay in. It will effectively cost you double to exchange by the time you add up the costs. (please note, there is a charge for everything - lots of hidden ones on top of what I have specified there e.g. safe, welcome pack, internet, utilities).
Also, if you're out there, and see people with scratch cards saying you have won, tickets to Aqua Park, or 120 euros in your hand... walk away. This is a timeshare scam, that if you start talking to these people, they swoop. It's a classic con, someone who reels you in, then another to keep you interested by telling you, that you will get more prizes, they just need an hour of your time. (They will also tell you that they are affiliated with the major companies such as Thomas cook, airtours, XL, Tui, etc - so you recognise the companies they claim to be working with). These people hang around immediately outside the resort as well as in Los Cristianos, and are mostly British.
If you are out for a quiet holiday, then this is not the place for you, however, if in fact it is the opposite.. then go for it! You could do much worse than Las Americas.

Submitted By: captain41Travelled from Luton Airport 10/10 non BAA so they know how to get you checked in through security for a pleasant hour in departures. 10/10
Monarch airlines 10/10
Transfers 10/10
Palm Beach Club location 10/10 1st impression's 10/10
By the way if you have skateboarding children the Skate Park is next to the Police Station or tell the taxi driver Noelia Sur Hotel (it's just about opposite) in Las Americas, while your children are skating (local skaters 10/10 my son made friends with them all!) Relax in the George Pub next to the Noelia Sur and let Ken keep you amused and the staff are friendly, the menu simple and really good!
Back to the PBC, entertainment staff 10/10 entertainment 10/10 the Neil Diamond lookey likey excellent. The Lookey Lookey men (ASDA PRICE) priceless.
Why only an overall 9 out of 10. Failing to clamp down on towel on beds sooner.
Understaffed especially at night. The reception were constantly dealing with complaints and their customer service skills were lacking.
I had to change rooms over half way through, as apparently the time share owner wanted the room. 5 minutes notice.
My polite, I only do polite, request to keep the room on our day if departure, as the check out was at 10 and we were not flying until 1935, pay for it, as the hotel was not full and I knew the room we were booked into would be vacant, because it is Friday to Friday and we were Tuesday to Tuesday, the request was treated with complete incredulity, as if I has asked for the Moon!
Flight back, well done Monarch, not their fault the flight was delayed, but still grandmother who should know better to have dressed her granddaughter in skimpy clothing despite the UK weather on our return, moaning about the lack of blankets and pillows for the poor little kiddies that she did not mind effing and blinding in front of, to those, who had no choice to listen to her if they could not scramble for their MP3 players.
Even to the point of not getting off, did not what happened after that, She was wrong, plain wrong and I hope Monarch don't give in to the bully.
Overall a great holiday, great location.

" We had a fantastic holiday in Playa... "
Submitted By: Mrs M MacdonaldCould not praise the standard highly enough - clean, modern and in a great location.
The beach was a two minute walk away and was fantastic. It was clean with amazing rolling waves - we could not get our son out of them!
Having been to las America’s approx 13 years before, I imagined that veronicas was all the resort had to offer, I was wrong. There a plenty of good places to eat, the Palm Beach club had great facilities for children and all in all, it is a great family resort.
Highly recommended. The only downside to the holiday were the flight delays at the Glasgow side and Tenerife side, (4hrs each way).
Also, watch out for ticket touts - will target couples and families, don't engage in any type of conversation with them, or you will never get away.

Submitted By: Mrs G BrownParque Agilas is a type of safari park/ zoo which is excellent for young children but not very buggy friendly. Has lots of different types of animals/ parrot shows/ birds of prey in a huge amphitheatre arena. Could spend a full day at the park as plenty of eating and drinking areas. Also area for picnics. Beach at Las Americas very clean and not crowded at this time of year.
