If you’re looking for somewhere that’s merely a place to leave your bags, then it’s great. If, like my partner and I, you’re looking for a nice hotel in a great city, then go elsewhere. Although the rooms were fairly clean, they were very dated. The bathroom was... more

Very dated hotel, stuck in an 80's time warp where Mary Rose sauce and ex-wartime bed linen is standard. Included in the hotel brochure is a warning to not drink the water!?! Obviously bottle water is available at extortionate prices, overall... not nice... avoid unless... more

Not a good night's sleep
The hotel is in need of refurbishment. My room was a single but was exceptionally small and had a view of an extractor pipe from the kitchen. I only stayed one night, but was awoken at 5am when the extractor was turned on. It was very noisy and hence I could not sleep. I tried to resolve the issue and sent in a letter of complaint. They were very apologetic but they did not offer any compensation. They did offer a discounted rate for a stay another time, but after this experience I would not go back. There are plenty of nice independant... more
Nice Hotel - Great Location
Having read some of the reviews on here I was a bit concerned about our trip to Bath and our stay at the Best Western Abbey Hotel, but I was pleasantly surprised. However, we did phone the hotel in advance and request a room at the back of the hotel as a lot of people have said it is very noisy being at the front, and having seen the location that isn't really surprising as there are a couple of pubs opposite. We ended up with a room on the top floor at the back which was really nice and quiet and we even had a bit of a view (albeit... more
Go for a nicer independant hotel
The best things about this hotel are: the friendly staff and the good location. Beyond that, everything else is pretty substandard. The decor is very dated and things feel a little grubby. Our bathroom was OK, but I didn't want to risk having a bath - standing in the shower seemed safer. The bed was quite comfortable but the seagulls hollared from 4am so this was sort of irrelevant (not that that is the hotel's fault per se - just a word of warning!) Breakfast wasn't too good - the milk and juice didn't seem fresh and the hot food was all... more
Hardly slept a wink
If you want a good nights sleep don't stay here as it's opposite a busy nightclub and pub which is open all week until 2am (We had rooms at the front of the hotel which were so noisy). When we checked in we had no reservation despite giving our credit card details for a booking. It's an old tired hotel in need of a big refurb, breakfast and location OK but other than that very disappointing.
Disappointing
I was looking for a reliable hotel in Bath and opted for this one. I got there late in the afternoon. The front staff was okay. They quickly checked me in. My room was quite disappointing. I had to take the elevator for one floor with my luggage. Got out, had to get down a few stairs , walked along the corridor, turn right and ...here I was! In a hot, unpersonal and tiny room with no view. At 75 British pounds per night, I would have hoped for something more substantial. It was noisy at night, one could hear people talking... more
Clammy, hot, dirty....
The first thing to bear in mind is that there is no carpark, you're directed to a seedy dubious place 250yds away, at £12/night. The room I was given was tiny, small single bed, and a view over the dirty litter strewn backcourt. The room was stifling, no a/c, just a plug in fan. Very poor. Arranged for Room Service breakfast, which didn't turn up. Really shabby, poor, dirty place. Poor value for money. Good location though, means you can get out of the place!
Location Location Location
An adequate three star-type Best Western which actually exceeded our fairly low expectations. Bath is an incredibly expensive place to stay and so we were surprised to get such good value for what we paid here. Room 210 is great for families. It is quiet, being at the back (no view but friendly pigeons!) and it is huge. We had a double bed with two nightstands, wardrobe, desk, drawers, table and two armchairs. At the other side of the room( far enough away to get a little privacy) was a full size single bed and opposite, a sofa which was... more
Very poor hotel
This is the first review I've written on Trip Advisor, and I'm doing so because for the first time I wished I had paid attention to what other people said - I'm not a very fussy person when it comes to hotel, but this place was not good! The rooms are very poky, and the bed, I'm pretty sure, is less than a standard double - my boyfriend didn't fit into it and at 6ft1 he's hardly unusually tall! The mattress was awful- totally saggy so we both just sunk in and slid into the middle - plus, the feeling of metal springs digging into you... more
Without personality
Good stay, but nothing else... It's a good hotel, but with an absolute lack of personality. I would suggest rather a B&B. Breakfast is included in the price: abundant and various. The best point is of course its location, near to the Roman Baths and the Abbey.
Hot water would have been nice!!
I stayed here a few weeks ago for the weekend and was really disappointed with the overall standard of the hotel. I was not best pleased to discover upon arrival that the hotel was experiencing problems with their boiler which meant no hot water. However, not wanting it to ruin the weekend, I had a cold shower and looked forward to a decent shower the next morning. Alas, still no hot water (in fact no water at all from the bath/shower taps) that morning. Obviously inundated with complaints, reception had put up a sign advising that... more
