Me and my boyfriend stayed at this hotel in august 2008, and i am not a snob or anything but i did find the standards to be quite rubbish!!!

Bulgaria was a disgusting holiday, full of rubbish, ignorant people, shabby buildings, nasty food and boring!!! The only thing that was good was the weather - it never rained once.

The hotel was in definate need of upgrade, old fashioned and in fact falling to pieces. The fridge in our room was broke, the tiles on the bathroom floor were cracked and the toilet was leaking, however we only found this out towards the end of the holiday!! There are alot of rude foreigners at this hotel and we was not made to feel welcomed by the bulgarians or the foreigners. The breakfast was minging!!! The staff were rude, and when i gave hem post cards to send back home, they did not send them! I would not recommend bulgaria, we paid quite alot for our package deal and did not think it was worth the money.

If your a group of p*** heads and is looking for a cheap holiday then bulgaria is maybe the place for you!!! If you are looking for clean, friendlyness and quiet then bulgaria is definatley not for you!!

My Husband and I have been going to Sunny Beach for about 7 years, we usualy go to the other end of Sunny Beach but decided that we wanted along the other end which was infact a shorter walk into the centre.Anyway we picked the Laguna Park for bed+breakfast as our Irish friends were going to the same end of resort,we would be near them.

We were met at the Hotel by the staff on the desk that night, the porter quickly took our cases to the lift then upto the 3rd floor where our room 304 was.the room was very spacious and clean,my husband even remarked how clean it was.normally in other hotels we had to hire fan-fridge but this room had air conditioning and small fridge, that was a saving right away.in the morning we were welcomed at the resturant by nice staff, the selection of food was great, something for everyone,i made a pig of my self the first couple of days but soon had to limit my eating, we sat at thepool and did not need to pay for sunbed or brolly"wow" another saving.we easily got speaking to other sun worshipers,we met scottish+english even a couple of dutch I think they were, every mornng they would greet us.We had lunch at the diner next to the hotel, very cheap to eat here also.staff were okay. At night we would go out around the area and found a lot of nice eating places which were quite cheap to eat in,the food was good,we also went along to the end of the resort to the eating places we knew and were welcomed by the staff who recognised us.this felt nice to be remembered, anyway,we had discussed about going back to the laguna park but heard it may be all inclusive next year, but when we got home we found out it was all inclusive for 2009. well we have booked for aug.2009 and going for all inclusive because we think the hotel is worth it.look forward to next year and many more.

What a fantastic hotel it is situated in an ideal position for shops resturants and the beach yet it is fairly quiet round about it.

The hotel itself is clean and the rooms of a reasonable size which are cleaned daily and clean towels also supplied daily,There is a fair mixture of tourists staying in the hotel mostly from the uk ,Germany and Russia,The food is ok but don't expect full English and you will be ok .

The pool area is kept nice and clean and the lifeguard that has been mentioned in other reviews is great although he doesn't speak English he does confiscate balls etc but this is so the few don't disturb the majority enjoying the pool.

We had a couple of issues with our room near the end of our stay but within 10 mins of reporting both problems we had someone up fixing them.

The staff are not the friendliest i have come across but to be honest i found this throughout the resort not just the hotel

We have just returned from a 2 week break at the Laguna park

We had a fantastic time, the location is perfect and the hotel clean and friendly. The maids work so hard and the hotel is spotless.

The only compliant I had was the breakfast but to be honest plenty of people were eating it and seemed to be enjoying it so maybe it was just not to my tastes.

There are plenty of places to eat that are all well priced and the food is great.

We would return to Sunny Beach again

We have just returned from Hotel Laguna Park and had a fantastic time there.

The hotel rooms were large and quite comfortable. they were very clean and we had clean towels everyday.

the hotel was nice and quite on a night so you could sleep.

the staff at the hotel were very friendly and would help you if you asked.

we found a great place to eat when you walk out of the hotel you just turn left and it is there. it was called Iskar Bistro. We ate there nearly every night it was very nice and very cheap. the staff there were fantastic. The were 6 of us eating there and we usually paid around £7 per head including the drinks.

Over all it was a FANTASTIC holiday

would go back next year and stay even longer.

With coming back from Laguna Park Hotel only a week ago, in my experience i would never go back. The one thing i can say is the cleanliness is very good. They clean your rooms everyday. But the reception desk is very ignorant they will brush you away with their hand, at night in the bar the bar man would sit down and watch tv then pull his face when you want a drink. There is alot of german and hardly any english people. The lifeguard in the pool takes balls off children which is rude yet he doesnt do anything when children are running up and down the slide. I never once saw the pool being cleaned and the breakfast wasnt english i dont understand why the hell people say it is.

I wouldnt go back and wouldnt recommend anyone to go.

The location was fab, near everything you needed! Great nightlife was very suprised.

The beach was about a 10min walk and was lovely!

Hotels very clean great maids! The staff were rude and never served us or asked us for drinks, when eveyone else had one! :(

Lots of ppl around trying to give u cherrys and other fruit and everytime u say no they still chase after u begging to try! which is annoying!

Lots of children begging on the streets outside the hotel wanting money, food and drink! If u have a drink in ure hand or if they see one they will snatch it out your hand! So jst be careful!

Other than that the hotel was great and would definatly go bck 2 bulgaria in years to come!

Before going to Sunny Beach, we looked at different reveiws for this hotel and most of them were good, but some did complain of (in our oponion) trivial things like not being able to get a full english breakfast, this is true. Hotel Laguna Park does cater for more Germans and Scandinavions than British, but so does most of the other places in Sunny Beach, There are lots of places to get a full english, just not at this hotel. Hotel Laguna Park is a lovely hotel, clean, quiet, friendly staff and good food, what else does one need from a hotel! It is a small hotel in comparison with some around it, it doesnt have evening entertainment unless you include DJ Valentino, who comes once a week, but to be honest - I could do better, and as my husband will tell you I sound like a cat getting stood on! So you do need to go out to one of the many bars around the hotel. If we have one complaint to make it would be the floors! The floors in the reception are high sheen floors and get cleaned alot and people come in from the pool also wet. so floors are slippery and if the cleaners remember to put out the "wet floor" signs they are diffiult to see, as one of our party slipped on the floor whilst cleaners were cleaning it, after she fell, they put out the "wet floor" sign. I also slipped and fell in the shower, so you have to be careful. The staff at the hotel are very friendly, especially if you leave them a nice tip. We had tables reserved for us on the second night after leaving the waiter a 10 lev tip which is about £5, we were looked after very well, the waiter called my husband "my scottish friend"and looked after us for the rest of our holiday. the cleaner thet cleaned our room was very nice and done a wonderful job even though she spoke no english, she tried to say "good morning" every morning, we are not the tidiest people when on holiday, but everyday, after breakfast our room was spotless, our shoes were lined up in the corner, clothes were folded neatly, towels were changed every day, beds changed once a week, but remade everyday. If we were to give any tips for this hotel it would be, eat in the hotel most of the time because it is alot cheaper than the resteraunts but drink else where. Although is is not an expensive place to visit, eating out costs aprox the same as it would in the UK, drinks in the resort are cheap if you drink beer and cocktails are normally BOGOF, But the main strip is alot more expensive. But there are places that you must visit, Chilli Peppers resteraunt is a must, good food, friendly staff, and good entertainment, for 4 adults it cost aprox £60 for food, drink and entertainment including tip, Kans Tent excursion is a must, fab night! costs about £35 per adult, you get picked up, a 4 course meal, a bottle of wine each, great entertainment and returned back to your hotel. but if you dont drink wine a beer costs about £2. Sunny beach has a lovely beach, but put on plenty of sun creamas there is a breeze you dont feel like your burning two of us got burnt and were in pain for 3 days. overall great holiday, lovely hotel, we would definatly go back!

Having read the reviews on Tripadvisor for the Laguna Park I felt it was necessary to write an honest review which myself and my 4 travel buddies agree with.

ARRIVAL

We arrived at the hotel around 6am. There was about 4 groups waiting to be checked in. This was done promptly and efficiently. The lady who checked us in spoke very good English and told us all we needed to know with regards to breakfast times. One of our party didn’t join us on the outbound flight, but when I explained to the lady she would be joining us a few days later she was most accommodating and said it wasn’t a problem and that they would keep the room on for her (the rep said they usually re-sell the rooms if a no show of more than 3 days).

When we got to our rooms (419 + 421) we were happy to see they were not only next to each other but also with a fantastic pool view.

The rooms were on the 4th floor which is easy to get to by using the stairs or the lift.

ROOMS

The rooms were very spacious and had 2 twin beds and a little sofa which turned into a sofa bed (this was used by my friend who arrived a few days later as she didn’t want to sleep in a room on her own and she said it was very comfortable). There was more than enough space in the wardrobe which had plenty of coat hangers and shelf space. There was the dressing table which had a TV and mirror and stool. The TV was mainly German channels, I think there were about 2 English channels, but this shouldn’t be an issue to most folk as who goes on hol to watch TV?!!! There was a small fridge which had soft drinks, water and beer in, there was a small charge for the drinks 1.50 lev (64p) for a can of pop, this was similar to the prices in the shops so it was handy, I think the beers were 3 lev (£1.29) which is also a good price and similar to the supermarkets. It did state not to put your own goods in the fridge, but we had a few things in there to keep cool and the maid didn’t have a problem with it. The only thing the room didn’t have and would have been great if it had was a kettle. We did ask reception and the restaurant but they didn’t have them to rent out, however you can get a free cup of hot water from the bar if you want (caution though, its free from the pool bar but the bar man at the bar inside charged 1 lev for some reason!). The bathroom was spacious too and had a double length shower which was lovely and powerful. The sink area had a huge mirror and hairdryer (take your own though if you want power, this one isn’t very powerful). The bathroom did smell a little, but more of stale air than anything more gross! There was also a phone in the bathroom which made us girls giggle, you can phone your pal in the next room if you want to chat whilst on the throne – ok maybe not! The balcony view was perfect, especially on a morning when eyeing up the sun beds, the Germans get out early so if you have a pool view take advantage of it, if you don’t just get there about 8am for a decent sun spot sun bed!

BREAKFAST

We were on bed and breakfast basis and what a nice surprise it was. When we arrived at 6am we waited up till 7am when they first start serving brekky (served between 0700 – 1000). We were greeted by a very friendly restaurant manager; I think he was called Stoyan or something like that. He was an elderly gent but he was so nice to us and every morning of our stay when we went for brekky he would say hello and ask how we were and he would also give us the weather forecast for the day (it rained most of the week we were there ). If there was anything we wanted he would get it for us, what better service could you ask for. There was plenty of choice, which came as good news to us as we had heard bad reports about the food. There are toasters throughout the restaurant for you to toast your bread (you will need to put it through twice though as they don’t toast too quickly). The food available ranged from sausages (not English sadly), eggs, beans, tomatoes, cereal, jams, Bulgarian dish of cucumber, tomato and feta cheese – this is just lush and I had for brekky every day! There was also a selection of fruits and cakes, the coconut with jam in the middle were just lovely washed down with a pot of tea!! There was juice, tea and coffee available, however if you like English tea take some tea bags as the ones on offer aren’t very strong!! Overall I can’t fault the brekky one bit, it does get busy towards the end of serving time 0900 – 1000, but that’s just the Germans!!!

HOTEL FACILITIES

The hotel is very big and sadly lacks any form of entertainment so if you are going with a family and want hotel entertainment I would stay somewhere else as there is nothing going on here, I’m not sure if this changes in high season but from 09 – 17 June there was nothing on.

The hotel has a doctor, massage area, internet, hairdressers, sauna, bar, pool side bar, playground. I can’t think what else! I had a back massage for 12 lev (£10.82) and it was lovely and a bargain too! The lady had relaxing music in the background!

The reception area is very large with lots of couches and chairs to lounge on.

Overall I can’t really fault the hotel as it catered for exactly what myself and my 4 girlfriends wanted from the hotel.

LOCATION

Perfect! You are only about 5/7 mins from the beach and about 10 mins from the centre, however you pass plenty of shops, restaurants and bars on the way so the time flies when you are wandering into the town!

RESORT

The resort, as with the hotel is full of Germans and men is scary lycra trunks (not a pleasant site). We hardly saw any English whilst we were there. There are plenty of eating places and bars to adventure with during your stay. There are many bargains to be had, but be warned the Bulgarians don’t want to barter so most of the time you end up paying what the price showing says!! Worth a try though!! I can recommend the Castle looking restaurant for a meal, it was lush, however The Ship opposite looks amazing but the food wasn’t good!! Go to the waterpark, although make sure it’s the Action one you go to in Sunny Beach, the other one that you pass on way to/from airport is the smallest park I have ever seen!! The Action park has free bus stops throughout the resort and costs 30 lev (£12.98) to get in, it was a wicked day out!

CLOSING COMMENTS

The hotel was perfect for what we wanted and I would stay here again, if you want to be more central go to Chaika Beach and its funky bar Club Mystic, think you can get from as little as £14 pp Half Board!!! The location was perfect! However the location of Laguna was good too!!

One extra point, we were advised by our travel agent Sunset (Thomas Cook) that there was building work. I have attached a pic of the building work, it was a big hotel being built but we didn’t actually witness any work taking place whilst we were there so no noise or dirt or anything affected our stay. So if you have been advised by your agent I wouldn’t worry too much as it looks like the core work is completed and you will find that no matter where you go in Sunny Beach there is building work all over the place!

Great central location a 10-15 minute walk to the nightlife and another 5 mins to the Beach,

Hotel was very clean had a pool view room which was very nice but a lot of noise came from across the road as there seem to be currently building a hotel right oppisite you could hear the drills and stuff in the morning which was a little annoying!

Breakfast was vile it's self serve wouldn't bother it's disguting they do cook fresh food after 10.00am best to pay for that it's much better.

The staff try to be helpful but they don't understand very much english and can come off as being quite rude and losing the patience with you at times the cleaning ladies are nice they make more of an effort ha..

As for us Brits you don't have many out there in Sunny Beach on our resorts it was full of Germans not dishing them but all you could hear was foriegn talk so it's hard to make friends and mix out there very.

In the streets walking down to the bars you get hassled alot of the prostitutes abit annoying when you are with your boyfriend so not for the jealous type of girls oh I know I make it sound bad but you have to watch out for the kids begging in the streets they distract your attention and the others try to put there hands in yor pockets right little buggers but other than that the overall holiday was fab just watch your back!!

I went to the Laguna Park end of September/beginning of October mainly because at that time single person supplements were no longer applied. The weather was fine and I came back with a tan, but things were shutting up towards the end of my week.

The hotel was good; large, modern (compared to the Azzuro that I went to 2 years ago) and clean. Breakfast was as described in other posts on this board, if you need a real English cooked breakfast then you are better off going to a cafe and paying 7 lev (£2.60), but if you are happy with an approximation or continental you will be fine.

The pool was large and the slide was impressive, but it was freezing cold. The sea was warmer and that was where I went swimming but other people used the pool and seemed to enjoy it.

Beer was 3 lev per 500ml (£1.10) at the hotel. Plenty of places outside sold it for 1 lev.

The only excursion I went on was the Nachos and Quiz night. I had a good time, the food was appalling, but the free Sangria was good.

My main gripe was with the Sunset rep that did not know the duty free allowances for Bulgaria and gave me some wrong information. Luckily I did not believe him and checked on the HM Customs website. Its 200 cigarettes per person and unlimited alcohol.

A word of warning. If you have children who can't sleep, you definitely don't want them watching channel 49 on the hotel TV.

First time in Bulgaria - read all the reviews and still was not sure what to expect so I went with an open mind.

Landed at the airport - tiny airport and very basic facilities; don’t worry about finding your way to the Reps or Taxi's as they are right outside the exit door. Around 35 min transfer time to Sunny Beach resort.

We stayed at Laguna Park which was classed as a 4 star hotel - clean and big although starting to look a little dated compared to the newer hotels either side of it.

Found the room big, clean, great corner balcony and a pool view (although they are not all like this - might be worth asking for one if you have the option). There was a fridge in the room which was stocked and prices for them was on a form on top - you can shove it all onto one shelf and go and get some of your own things from the local shop.

Room was cleaned everyday and fresh towels left.

Swimming pool was big and the water slide was great fun- the sun beds were free but you had to put a towel on the ones you wanted as you went down to breakfast . We did find when we first got to the hotel that people (ESP Swedish) were leaving their towels out on the sun beds overnight - we liberated a few one night as it got us mad and that resolved the problem.

Breakfast was a fine, don’t see what people are moaning about - plenty of fresh bread and rolls, (which you could toast as there was a big toasting machine) fruit, bowls of cereal and yoghurt, boiled eggs, fried eggs, scrambled eggs, loads of cheese, ham and salad things, cake, biscuits, and our favourite was the pancakes - Yum. Average meal out around the pool restaurant was a pizza and a salad with a beer each and a soft drink for junior at it cost us 20 levs. Meals out and about the place on average cost us just under 50 levs (around £15) so it was really cheap.

Shops were a plenty although most of it was fake stuff; its ok but you get what you pay for. We went to the Aqua Park at sunny beach - you catch a free shuttle bus along the main road, just look out for the big stop signs. Had a great day, loads of fun for the kids. The reps sell the tickets for the same price as on the door, so you can buy them from either.

We also had a trip to Khans Tent for a four course meal. Each adult gets a full bottle of white wine and the kids get soft drinks. Acts were circus style and dancing girls - suitable for all ages and worth a trip - don’t forget to take your camera's as the view of the bay outside is really good.

We had a trip up to Nessbar - first time we went we caught the ferry boat from the beach at a cost of 15 levs each - kids free. Found out later that a taxi to the old town was 20 levs each way and 15 levs to the nessbar new town. Worth a trip as the shops had better things in them.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Bulgaria to you as it has something that would appeal to everyone. Be aware that there is a lot of building work going on in and around this resort, and if you are booking up for next year I would double check that none is going on when you plan to take your holiday.

If you are using the Kids World Club at the hotel, be aware that it only takes 8 children at a time and once it’s full that’s it so get there early to get your place. My tip is if it starts at 2pm stand outside the door at 1.45pm !

We went to Laguna Park mid July 2007 and consider Sunny Beach one of our favourite holidays to date. Firstly the hotel, it’s spacious and clean if a little basic.

The cleaners do a good job yet the reception staff lack a little charisma to say the least.

It has a large restaurant and the meals (breakfast) seem to cater mainly for the Scandinavian/Nordic people. There is a good selection of hot & cold food for breakfast and there is something for most folk(even if it’s just tea & toast).

The pool is a decent size with little slides for toddlers and the main water slide at the far end for bigger kids. A pool side bar and outdoor restaurant offer good CHEAP food & drink.

The resort its self is lively and quite busy. If you come out of the hotel at the main entrance (super market on left) you can turn either right or left. Turning right and walking for about 10 mins you find yourself in the main square crammed with shops, bars, restaurants. (good for sunglasses, watches t shirts etc...) leads to the beach.

Turning left out of the hotel and walking for about 5/10 mins leads you to more bars ,shops mini golf etc but a bit more family orientated (bouncy castle slides, rides, games).

Overall a good place to visit, loads to do especially for young families and very very cheap, beer 2 lev (60p) ice creams 1 lev (33p).

Good points, cheap, good weather, loads to do, masses of bars, shops etc. Clean.

Bad points:

Can get over crowded (pub crawls) 200 people!

Glasses in or around the hotel pool.

No night time entertainment at hotel.

The last tip I can give you, (in the nicest possible sense) is to get lost!

We did, and found loads more too sunny beach than most people. Enjoy.

This was our first time in Bulgaria and didn't know what to expect. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful apart from the sleeping life guard who occasionally walked around the pool to let people know he was still alive!!

Plenty of sun beds to choose from around a good pool area that catered for both adults and children. Nice sandy play area for younger children. Room was spacious and maid service was pretty good with both bedding and towels regularly changed. Breakfasts were good with plenty of choice both hot and cold.

Resort never ceased to amaze and still finding streets full of cafes, restaurants, bars etc on our last few days. Best restaurant in town is D'Jannys - make sure you go. Would also recommend the bar next door to the hotel (Iskar) for good cheap food and friendly staff.

Resort catered for all ages (including families with young children. Khan's Tent a bit overrated - entertainment was excellent but food was not worth the price.

Lovely Beach with plenty of water sports. Nessebar well worth a visit and can be accessed by a 40 minute walk along the beach.

Would recommend anyone to go - we will certainly go back in the future.

Stayed at Laguna Park for the last 2 weeks in June.

Temperatures were the highest we have ever experienced when visiting Sunny Beach but myself, hubby & wee boy had a spacious room on 4th floor and air-con was adequate enough to keep room cool. My mum wasn't so lucky though & had a smaller room on 7th floor - her balcony had no shade & air-con, although working was not quite adequate enough to make the room bearable at times.

Having stayed in Fiesta beach in Sep 05 and Chaika Beach in Sep 06 - we were worried about booking a 3* hotel, but although the rooms are basic and the hotel on the outside looks better at night when it is lit up - we were not disappointed. The maids kept the rooms very clean, towels were changed daily & our bedding was changed 2 or 3 times per wk.

Only had breakfast in hotel - no complaints there, found there to be lots of choices but other guests advised evening meals not that great - so many good places round about to eat out anyway, would definitely choose B & B again.

Having separate kids pool and couple of slides and flume to keep children occupied was ideal. Play park on site was also an asset - as a lot of the other hotels in SB don't really cater for kids.

Hotel is bit further from the beach than we would normally like but pool & available loungers more than made up for this.

Hotel is well situated for easy access to town centre, plenty of shops, eating places; casino & train stop all within easy reach.

Khan's tent excursion well worth it but wasn't so keen on traditional Bulgarian beach barbecue night.

Noticed vast improvement with pavement on promenade - vital when pushing a buggy!
