Family fun in the sun

We (me, hubby and 4 yr old son) had a great time at the Laguna Park Hotel. The hotel was spotless, the beds were very comfortable, we had one of the best rooms (207) as it accessed a private sun terrace shared by approx 5 rooms as well as it's own terrace and overlooked the pool. Our room was spacious and the bathroom was really quite large. We were on an all inclusive deal and I can't see how anyone could possibly complain. the food was great with something for everyone. We didn't suffer from any tummy bugs and probably put on weight while we were there. My son is a picky eater but was happy with boiled egg and toast follwed by a muffin for breakfast, pizza and more cake for lunch and chicken nuggets or fish fingers and chips for tea with yet more cake and delicious ice cream for tea. I fell in love with the white cheese and tastiest tomatoes ever and a variety of great meat dishes. Dessert was always a selection of pastries (called Baklava I think) which were made of puff pastry soaked in syrup with various fillings - looked a bit dodgy but tasted fab! The white wine was decent and the cocktails were a nice addition. There were even children's cocktails available at the pool bar. The pool was tended by a very efficient cleaner / life guard who kept things spotless and washed down the comfy lounger mattresses each day. The pool was a bit cold in September but once in you got used to it! The weather in september was hot - somewhere between 75 and 80 degrees F. The animation team did a great job and one was the spitting image of Mr Bean. The entertainment was basic but what do you expect - it's not the west end! The kids disco took place each evening before karaoke, bingo, a comedy show (that was really very funny)or competition for guests. One or two of the staff seemed a bit grumpy looking but to be honest I think that was simply because there was a language barrier. I can speak German and found that they were far more communicative if you spoke German to them as they have a better grasp of German than English. My son took a real shine to one of the waitresses who always took the time to come over and speak to him. The foyer at the hotel was large and comfortable with big comfy leather suites. There were signs saying you would be fined for sleeping on them but on leaving day - loads of people did and no one bothered. I think Bulgaria has lots of "you'll be fined" signs that no one pays much attention to. The resort of Sunny Beach seemed a bit commercial and a little seedy to me, with sex clubs and shops and loads of bars. We didn't venture out of the hotel at night as our son was so young and it didn't seem a very family type place at night time, but was fine during the day. The shops all sold designer copies - some great quality, some not so. There was a little road train that was a good, cheap way to travel around and also plenty of horses and carriages to see the sights on. The beach was fantastic - lovely warm water that was shallow to quite far out and gorgeous fine and clean sand. The Laguna park Hotel is well placed to visit the beach - a 5-10 min walk. We also visited the historical town of Nessebur which is gorgeous (with lovely little cobbled streets and ruins and the usual range of designer rip-offs for the shopping addicts). We travelled back to Sunny Beach from Nessebur by boat which was lovely. One evening we went to Khan's tent and had a fab time. The show was very professional with acrobats, fire eater, dancers, trapeze acts, a clown and loads more. the meal was nice too and the wine hit the spot! The live band played some popular tunes that got everyone up dancing so all in all a worthwhile trip. I think holidays are what you make of them and exploring somewhere new is exciting so who cares if the bacon isn't how we have it at home ... go to the Laguna Park, try the food (it always tasted much better than it looked), and enjoy somewhere new. To all teh staff at Laguna Park - Nasdrave (probably spelled wrong LOL) and Blagodarya - cheers and thank you x

We stayed at laguna park hotel for 11 days, the hotel was spotless, the maid althoudh she couldnt speak english she was lovely and very good at her job. The food was rubbish same 4 dishes done in a differant way,not enough room in the dining hall or bar,we had a downpour and no 0ne could get out of the hotel because it was floodeed and there was not enough seats in the lounge for everyone,my husband, son, daifhter in law and 3 year old as well as myself, spent the whiole night sat in the dinng room. the entertainment for the kids was okay but very poor for the adults,we went out most nights as the bar shut at 11pm.We wer almost mugged in the street by gypsies which put me off walking round the resort at night. The staff in the hotel were very unfriendly except for a girl working in the restaurant who was nice.I left my cardigan on the back o a seat in the bar one night when I asked about it the next day they weren ot interested
Dont think we will be going back!

The hotel was very clean to the point of being over clean!!
The food was Ok but the same types of meat every day, although the vegi option was Ok most days, as was the kids menu.
The entertainment team worked hard to keep the kids amused,as did the bar staff. Boris was OK most days as long as you didn't want too many drinks in one go.

the entertainment staff r quite funny, helpful n always smiling, wouldnt say the shows were the best but still good all the same. evan, tanya, dede n other guy always there for the kids stuff. there is really everything u could want on a holiday going on in or round about
all in all id defo go back to this hotel
hope this helps everyone out, just hope u all get the same experiences as me n my friends
main strip n beach 5/10 mins walk
only a few wee problems with the place are things like if u sleep/lie on the couch's in reception they could fine u 50 levs, walk on grass 50 levs etc.... quite funny but just be aware of all the wee sings around the place

Hotel - Ideal for the Germans, not so ideal for the British. But for the British you will be ok if you can live on chips. Maids cleaned up well but did not stock up the mini fridge daily and we believe they stole money off us. The staff were all OK but a few ignorant one's behind the bars. Pool was OK, slide was good. Full of German people though. Hotel better for families. When complained about maids they pretended they couldnt speak english but when expecting tips they could speak fluent english. Snack bar food is not nice especially.

We have just returned from our 14 night stay at Luguna Park hotel, When we first arived at the hotel we were pleasantly surprised, we stayed in the new part of the hotel, and although the cleaner was still in when we were shown to our room, we had to chase after her to get towels and toilet rolls, and then my husband had to go to reception to ask for the mini bar to be filled, but it seemed to be clean and friendly! As the week went on on several occasions the cleaner seemed to miss out our room, and when she did come in all she done was wipe the floor with an old mop, and turn down the beds, we continualy had to run after her for clean towels and toilet roll, and the mini bar was never filled up!! the shower in our room leaked from under the base which resulted in a third swimming pool, which we could have lived with but for the smell!! This was reported 4 TIMES!! and i think that at 1 point one of the handy men (thats the guys in the red and blue overall continualy walkin about with silicon guns!!) came in and attempted to seal it, to no avail!!
The food is ok, the meat was well cooked but every lunch and dinner were the same!! if you can live on chips, you'll do well!! but the mini cakes are fab!! and my daughter enjoyed the on tap icecream.
The bar staff are very rude, the hotel is very strick on alcohall if you are a british family it would seem, on several occations we were ignored at the bar and the staff would look past you, and they have a no more that 2 drink per person rule as well, unless you are under 30 in a group or German then you can get 14 cocktails at a time!! and thats not a joke!!
The animation team were great though i have to say that if it wasent for big Ivan and the team the hols could have been a lot worse!! they are great with the kids, my daughter had a ball!! and they done a great job with the entertainment.
be careful when you are booking your hols to, as there was a few familys turfed out of their room early and have had to hang about for 12hrs or so, to be picked up on departing.
and if you stay later you can be fined up to 200lv, you are also fined 50lv fo walking on the grass, making a noise after 11pm, making a puddle on the shower room, and the best one lying on the couches, and or falling asleep, when you go in, have a look you can see the signs beside the couches, next to the security guard thats lying sleeping!!
The other thing is, we went on the off road trip up the balkin mountain, which we
would recomend it was great, but watch out for they guy with the video camera, he charges 49lv for the dvd of the day!! we have just put ours in the dvd and not only is it a different trip, but a different family!!
we did have a good time!! but thats more due to the animation team and of course the compay, but the hotel, needs a lot of improvment especially with it being 4star all inculucive, i dont think we will be back!!

We arrived at Hotel Laguna Park early morning around 1am. Our first problem came after being greeted from reception. We had asked to make sure our 3 rooms we had booked were next to each other, turns out we were all spread out and on different floors. As we were all very tired we decided just to accept the rooms and sort it out in the morning. Sure enough, in the morning, I went down to reception and managed to get us all together the following day.
The hotel itself is very clean. We were in the new building of the hotel which did seem to be alot nicer than the older part. Very modern furniture, kingsize bed, walk in shower, extreamly good air con'.. I couldn't fault the rooms, although we did ask reception if there was a cot in our room for the baby before heading up and she told us there was, and when we got up, there wasnt. We wernt to bothered though because we had brough our own travel cot.
The food. Lets just say they dont really cater for the English too much. Your breakfast buffet isnt too bad to be fair, its just very repetitive and by the 3rd day I was sick of eating the same thing. Lunch and dinner buffet are also very similar. They either consist of very similar dishes day in, day out only using pork and veal and on the odd occasion chicken.
I wouldnt say the staff were rude, but more of a communication problem more than anything. On checking out of the hotel the receptionist had the cheek to ask us where the cot was that was origanlly suppose to be in our room but wasnt! When we tried to explain we had never had a hotel cot even though we had paid for one she tried to say the travel cot we had brought with us was theres!
I would probably go back to Bulgaria but I would consider staying elsewhere. The hotel really isnt that bad, I think we just had a bad expirience...

We just got back from a week at Laguna park. The hotel was very clean, the staff friendly and the food was better than I had expected after reading older reviews. It is a 5 min pleasant walk to the night-life, beach, restaurants etc yet it is far enough away not to hear all the town noise. There is plenty to do and I would highly rec "Kharns tent" excursion. the show is great and my husband didn't want to go, yet he loved it. The views are amazing and its a 4 course meal with a bottle of wine each or you can swap for 2 pints beer. There are fantastic places to eat if you do want to go out for around £10 per person but if you go to "the funny pub" food is great but be prepared for attack if you don't tip the waitress. you don't have to tip when eating or drinking out but that place, be prepared for a lovely girl to turn nasty in a split second if you don't give her at least 20 Lev(£10) tip. However they have an excellent live band.
The sea is warm and the weather fantastic. June the 21st is their official first day of summer so the prices go up every where for food drinks etc.
I do not recommend the "snap and drop" excursion as if you really want to see the old town of nessebar you only get a quick hour then back on the bus then an hour in bourgas before returning to the bus stop. It is a beautiful place with lovely shops and restaurants that we couldn't look at as the tour guide was on a mission, you see 4 churches then a quick 15mins drink then back to the bus. Get a taxi and spend the day there, I would advise people to stay in this hotel as the pools are great they change the main meals everyday, you can also get panini, pizza, burgers from the snack bar all day til 6pm and ice cream all day to. Activities for adults and children and all the staff try and help as much as possible.
We spoke to lots of other people from different hotels that complained of cold food, unhelpful reps, dirty rooms etc. We had a really nice time and my husband and I are glad that we went. It was relaxing, enjoyable and somewhere different to visit. You can smoke anywhere you want as it is NOT part of the EU yet. 200 Cigs cost 39 Lev(£19)Beer was 0.80Lev(40p)a pint. Cocktails are usually buy 1 get 1 free and if you stay in the hotel it is free all the time. I read many reviews on this site before we went and I was very concerned about building work, entertainment etc as this was their first year doing all inclusive as a hotel. There was NO building work at all, the entertainment was funny but we loved the excursions as well. The hotel was clean and always being cleaned day and night. The rooms are not lavish but they are clean and quite ok for what you need them for. Rather like travel lodge. the hotel has plenty of white leather sofa's to chill out on with big tv's and 4 bars you can be served in. If you want the beach, again soft sand and warm sea it is literally 5 mins round the corner if you walk slow.
Also our plane was delayed 5 hours from birmingham due to a freak electrical storm that we had never seen anything like before. When we finally got on the plane they gave us all a free meal and apologised. When we arrived at the hotel, they had opened the kitchen for us especially so that people could eat. This was at 4am. They couldn't have been more thoughtful. Then when we got home, the next day the Thomas cook agents that we booked through called me to see if we had a nice holiday as we were concerned about the reviews we had read on here.
I hope if you decide to go, you too will enjoy yourself as much.
