I have been to the Dom Rep in all 7 times and have stayed at Casa Marina 5 times.
I have enjoyed all aspects of the hotel to the extent of recommending it to family and friends.
The rooms clean, the maids friendly and worked hard, the reception staff helpful and any requests fulfilled.
The grounds and beach clean and very well kept, and the food in the restaurant’s the best I have had in any hotel that I have stayed in, in many countries that I have visited over the years, including 4 and 5 stars.
However on this last visit I was let down, I had money stolen, and one of the staff was very rude to my husband when he went with his elderly mother and aunt to get coffee.
To the extent my husband had to challenge him about his attitude, my husband tried to explain to him that we were given information by one of his staff.
The member of staff then promptly took us to the manager, where he denied what he had said and walked out of the office in the middle of the conversation.

Casa Marina Reef is the best hotel I have ever been in my life even though I am 14 years old! I went with my family on the 16th august to the 31st august 2006.
The location is brilliant and outstanding. Situated on the beach and is 150 metres from Sousa resort area.
The swimming pools are brilliant and very warm and clean. There are always lots of sun beds but no pedalos but we really didn't go in the pool we loved the beach. I went in a couple of times but not a lot. They clean the pool in the morning and at night. The entertainment in the pool was very good. There was something for every one like aerobics, scuba diving in the pool, water polo and more. There is a children’s pool and brilliant for little kids to splash around. There are 3 pools, 1st pool is small but still very warm this pool is on the other side on the resort called casa marina beach. (You can use all the facilities on that resort) 2nd pool is in the middle of both resorts and this one is big and about 5.5ft deep (not that deep, I could just touch the bottom of the pool) there is a children pool as well. 3rd pool is in the resort casa marina reef it very big and there is all where the pool sports are.
There are 4 table tennis and 1 beach volleyball. There is a pool volleyball as well. There are dance lessons which are very good.
The Jacuzzis are lovely and I spend most of my time in Jacuzzis. There is three Jacuzzis and over looking the beautiful blue clean sea, it is always nice to have a glass of wine and relax in the Jacuzzis watching the sun to go down. The sun goes down at 7:00pm.
There are lots of sun beds. There is also a bar next to the Jacuzzis.
The beach is lovely as well and the sand is white and the sea is blue clean. There is a surgery man walks around to keep the locals off the beach. Lots of sun beds, you would always get one. The pedalos are $3 USD a day but worth the money because it is so hot!. A man comes around and picks up all the cups and litter on the sand, (he does expect tip but if you don't want to give him a tip it does not matter). They do have a tide, low tide is in the morning and high tide is in the afternoon. There are all kinds of water sports. I loved them and went on everything. The banana boat is $8 USD for 30 mins, it is worth the money because it is well fun and can also see big fish in deep water don't worry because you have life jackets on. So if you fall off you are safe. There are no rocks or coral in the sea it is just sand.
The food is very good and nice. The 3 a la carte restaurants if heard were very good as well. Me and my family didn't go to any of them but we heard from other people that is was very nice. There are 2 buffet restaurants and they were both very nice. At lunch they both do chips and burgers (everything you eat in England). At dinner they both have different food every day. The restaurants were lovely and they are all air conditioning.
The entertainment was very, very, very good it was brilliant. During the day the entertainment was brilliant something for everyone. At the night it is brilliant I couldn’t believe it, it is like being the west end watching a show. There is different shows on every day and on Wednesdays they have a beach party which is on the beach and there is a bon fire as well. I loved it. At the start there is always a mini disco for the children and teens they play songs to dance to and do shows like fashion show and play catch with a ball and if you win you get a prize like a necklaces.
There are lots to do for children like a children’s club ages up to 12 years. Two children’s pools. Comprehensive activities programmes.
The rooms are very nice and clean. It has air conditioning, a TV, safety deposit box with keys, the bath room was very clean you get shampoo and conditioner and a shower cap. Lots of toilet roll.
The staff are very nice and made you very happy and you feel very welcome. The staff are friendly and helpful. The maids do a very good job in the rooms and make it nice from you when you get back. The entertainers are very helpful, funny and nice. There are about 23 of them and do all the shows all buy them self no help at all. They wear orange t-shirts so watch out (how funny, joking)
The theater is very big and the stage is huge to. Over 200 seats better get there quick because sits go out very quick. The theater is open but roof over head. No bugs around. (I didn’t get bitten once, I am very lucky).
Things to do out of the resort:
The monster truck was very good. The monster truck safari takes you into the heartland of the island to visit local villagers and find out about their way of life in that country.
Freestyle catamaran was good as well. Opt for a spot of coral reef snorkeling or simply chill out on deck of the catamaran and top up that tan. Outback safari is good. Go in to the outback to visit locals villages and villagers, enjoy a little boogie boarding.
White water rafting. If you're something of adrenalin junkie, this river rafting experience on the white water rapids should be right up your street. Ocean world is the best place to swim with dolphins. It is a once in a lifetime experience. You can swim with the dolphins, seals, sharks, string rays. You can see the tigers, lots of birds and hold them and much, much more on offer. You have to go there.
Overall of this hotel:
This hotel is the best hotel ever. It has everything you need. The resort is based on a 3+* but I think it should be a 4* because it has everything. I would always come back to this hotel. If you are going to book this hotel go ahead it is the right option to take.

Myself and my 15 year old daughter came back a week ago from Casa Marina Reef in Sosua, Dominican Republic. All I can say is what a fantastic holiday! The hotel was kept spotlessly clean at all times.
The food was fantastic - in fact the buffet food was probably as good as if not better than the 3 a la carte restaurants. The hotel entertainment team were really hard working and did a show every night which was extremely professional and there were plenty of things to join in with during the day round the pool.
I also had a try at Scuba Diving - had a free lesson in the pool and went and did a proper dive in the ocean, it was amazing. I had a fantastic instructor from the Aqua Center based at the hotel. I would most definitely recommend Scuba diving to anyone it was a fantastic experience and the fish etc that we saw were amazing.
I think the only downside to our holiday was that there wasn't much for my 15 year old daughter to do - too old to want to join in with the kids clubs and too young to join in the adult things eg the disco (over 18s only).
I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone considering the Dominican Republic.

We have traveled to Dominican Republic and other Caribbean islands before and always stayed in 4*+ but I was bridesmaid for a friend and this is the accommodation that she chose.
We traveled with Thomas Cook airlines and were lucky we had 3 seats between the 2 of us so just that little bit extra room made all the difference but the flight was very smooth and the staff were very helpful. The transfer took about 20 mins so not bad after a nine hour flight! But be careful coming out the airport as you have 101 men come to take your luggage but they all want tips which we don’t mind we gave a 1$ and they said it would be 10$ to take our case from one side of the road to another! I know they all have a job to do same as us all but this really put me off.
We arrived to the hotel and it was nighttime so just unpacked and slept. We woke in the morning and the sun was shining the beach is lovely and clean but the waves can be quite rough especially in the morning and late afternoon. we had a wonder round and found 3 pools lots of activities to do there was 3 ala carte restaurants Mexican, Italian and seafood we enjoyed the Italian the most, and also 2 buffet style bars with lots of choice.
The room were kept clean our room had 2 double beds a TV which I know your away on holiday but we went for three weeks and there’s only so much sunbathing you can so about 5 o’clock we used to go up and there was English speaking channels and not just the news! we went on 2 trips while we were there I would recommend them both swimming with the dolphins and white water rafting both days out were very enjoyable my boyfriend went quad biking and he said they were brilliant.
The pools were very clean, animation on the evening were very good. Overall a good holiday would go back even though a 3*, very good 3*.

I have just returned from a fantastic week in this resort and cannot praise it enough. The Rep, Sally, was great and provided lots of useful local knowledge as well as booking some fantastic trips for us.
The hotel rooms were clean and the air con was quiet, the garden view room was excellent and close to the three Jacuzzi’s, bars, hammocks, numerous sun beds, two private beaches and the Mexican restaurant without being noisy.
The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was excellent, we didn't even use the vouchers for the 3 restaurants and just ate from the three buffet restaurants. There are lots of activities and a free show every night which I heard was excellent but was too busy lounging in the Jacuzzi bar to go to. The drinks were plentiful with generous measures and the bar staff quick to serve and friendly, even giving dancing lessons whilst serving.
The Dominican Discovery tour and the Luxury boat trip to Paradise Island are a must.
The VIP lounge is also a must when traveling back to the UK, if only for the air con and the free drinks.

Hi my family and I traveled to casa marina reef on 25th march for 2 weeks we had a great time the accommodation was basic but clean and tidy the complex was spotless and the food was fab plenty of choice anyone saying otherwise is a fussy eater.
The staff were really friendly they are on the go all day keeping everyone busy with games in and around the pool. We traveled with 4 children 3 teenagers and a baby the only thing I will say is the older children felt uncomfortable outside the resort so we stayed in which was no problem as everything you need is inside anyway.
Finally bit of advice, don’t leave cameras unattended as we did. Ours was stolen but that can happen anywhere, didn’t spoil our holiday.

My family and I spent two weeks over Christmas at the Casa Marina Reef in Sosua.
The hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff were amongst the nicest I have ever come across. Nothing was too much trouble and they went about their work with huge smiles and very often singing ! The food in the buffet restaurant was of a very good standard with plenty of choice - even catering for vegetarians. There were also 2 other restaurants where you could eat lunch which made the most fantastic burgers and 'kentucky' style fried chicken, bbq spare ribs, salmon steaks, hot dogs, chips and salad.
There were also 3 speciality restaurants that could be booked at night ; Italian, Fish and Mexican. There were numerous bars on the complex and the service was always excellent - never having to wait more than a minute to be served - and the hotel was booked to capacity. On the first couple of days we did experience some rain, and my only complaint would be there is not a lounge bar with comfortable seating where people could sit and enjoy a drink as all the bars are either open air or are part of the restaurants or theatre.
The animation team worked very hard during the day arranging water polo, beach volleyball, water aerobics, bingo - you name it - however you never felt under pressure to join in. The shows in the evening were first class and were held in the amphitheatre. The quality of the stage sets, costumes and choreography surpassed anything I have come across on previous holidays.
The town of Sosua offers fantastic snorkelling and a vast abundance of small shops selling jewellery, paintings, wood carvings etc - but you must remember to haggle. There are numerous trips arranged from the resort, the most popular being Ocean World - where you can swim with Dolphins, the Monster Truck - where you go inland to see a real slice of Dominican Life to an aerial view of Sosua in a helicopter- all highly recommended.
Over the Christmas period the hotel arranged Gala Meals, Christmas presents for all the children from Santa , Christmas shows and even a living nativity ! All in all a great holiday.

Fantastic hotel for the money paid, had a great holiday, and wedding here, thanks to all the staff at this hotel.
Food was fantastic and always plenty choice. Entertainment was also very good. The hotel was always kept very clean, inside and out.
Our wedding was wonderful, beautifully decorated gazebo, choice of which speciality restaurant you want your wedding dinner at. The wedding video and photographs are taken by the same company, and are fantastic. I couldn't believe how great they looked, with a great range of backdrop scenery.
The hairdressers where also very good, no need to worry which style to go for girls, they tried out different styles, to see what suited me most and what I felt most happy with.
We got married at 11.00am, which I was quite surprised at how early this was, but well, it just gives you longer to wear your beautiful dress. I never took my dress off until about 3 o'clock the following morning.
I truly enjoyed my wedding day, from start to finish, and would recommend it to anyone who's thinking of tying the knot in the Dominican Republic.
The year we visited this hotel was actually 2002, just the dropdown tool doesn't go back that far.
