Ok but noisy
from AlisonBristol
We stayed in this hotel for one night at the beginning of November. The Victoria Hotel would have been pretty grand 10/20 years ago but is now looking a bit run down. The room was clean but incredibly noisy and the breakfast wasn't too great - unless you enjoy stale pastries and boiled eggs?! The staff were very friendly though and it did have a retro feel to it which was quite amusing. Stay here if you want a fairly cheap/clean room and something close to Ramses train station but don't expect too much more.
Oasis in crazy Cairo!
from Happy_voyageur
We stayed in Cairo for one night only; this hotel was recommended to us by a travel agent friend, and it was really nice! A hotel with character, old style class that's not luxurious any more but looks like it was, sometime far in the past! The room was very nice, very high ceiling, the dining room very traditional. Friends staying with us had dinner and enjoyed it. We had breakfast and enjoyed it (local pastries, hard boiled eggs, some cheese, some "croissants" - nothing extraordinary, but simple and nice). No noise in the room...

Great Hotel
from AdrenilineJunkie
We've just returned from Cairo and spent a total of 3 nights at the Victoria. Classic old hotel with great ambience- comfortable beds- and clean bathrooms. Please keep in mind Cairo is a very dirty city- so the air brings a certain amount of dust, sooo the hotel (in the middle of Cairo) has a bit of a dusty feel to it- but this is minor, compared to the great bar, internet, and lounge areas. The most important thing for me was that the hotel was quiet- sleep came easily- something you will appreciate very quickly in Cairo. I would...

Comfortable
from BattyJNB
We were moved to the Victoria Hotel from the Delta Pyramids Hotel as we had to depart Cairo at 06h00 in the morning so it was closer to the Airport. What a great experience! We literally only slept there but it was the quietest night we had in Cairo! We did request a back facing room which was more than comfortable. The room was large and the bathroom was huge in comparison to what we had previously. Considering it was a budget hotel, it was far superior to the Delta Pyramids which is supposedly a 4 star. They even opened breakfast for...

Great value for money
from PeterRipley
After coming upon some recent reviews, I felt compelled to share our experience. Last summer, totally by accident, while looking for a hotel in Cairo from our hotel in Marsa Alam, we found a photo of the Victoria in a guidebook. At $35 a night we were concerned but my partner suggested that we give it a go. I needn't have worried. The hotel while old was an oasis of civility. The huge room smelled of beeswax and all the wood surfaces shone brightly. Yes, the sheets were not Frette but they were bright white and crisp. The TV was a beautiful...

Friendly service, BUT pretty run down
from lhjlmm
Found this hotel through Lonely Planet. It came highly recommended for its price range. We were surprised at the state of the rooms -- worn and threadbare sheets, old mattreses, functional but very spare and cramped bathroom. The place seemed run down and somewhat dusty and dirty. However, the service was helpful and friendly. They exchanged money for us without charging extra fees. There's a comfortable cafe to lounge in on the first floor with a nice ambience. Free continental breakfast included -- the food was simple but filling...

Average, but some nice touches
from fish_fingers
Had a 1st floor room with a decent double bed but an awful view. Room characteristics: - cleaned daily but not thoroughly. - quiet with windows shut. - air-con unit (which wasn't needed). - shower/bath ok with warm (not hot) water - one or two small creepy-crawlies wandering around from time to time! - very high ceiling. - old'ish fittings. - satellite tv (only six channels - maybe there were more) The buffet breakfast was reasonable and the food available in the evenings was basic. Generally...

Not a pleasant experience
from pegah
We stayed in this hotel for three nights at the end of our three weeks vacation in Egypt. I definitely won't go back. I found some staffs not as friendly. The rooms were OLD and not clean. There was no hot water in shower, we had to run water for 10 minute before taking shower and even then we get just lukewarm water. And the breakfast is really minimal. I didn't find the location convenience too, there was nothing between walking distance.
Comfortable hotel, excellent value
from knievel
My fiancee and I ended up here for 4 nights (3 at the start and 1 at the end of our trip) in March 07 after starting out at the disappointing Odeon Palace (see my review). We were very comfortable here and highly recommend it. At US$41/night for a double including breakfast, it's exceptional value. Location is great. It's a short walk to either the Obari or Ramses Metro stations and cabs are easy to find outside. The excellent door staff are a big help flagging them down. There is a decent and reasonably priced restaurant in the...

Excellent service, very helpful
from namo1
We were placed in this hotel last minute after an emergency (our passports were stolen and we missed our flight back to the US) b/c our old hotel was completely booked for the night. The service here was EXCELLENT, much better than the five star Shepheard hotel which we had stayed at earlier. The receptionist was able to fulfill all of our demands during our crisis in a timely and understanding manner. The rooms are old but clean. The hotel is a budget hotel, but has a really nice lobby and tea garden.
