Aug 2011, very unhappy

I stayed @ this hotel for 2 weeks with my family and was not impressed with the whole hotel the shower did not have a shower curtain so water went everywhere, the light in the toilet and room was dim so hard to see at night, and the food wasnt fresh every night and was very stingy with the portions they would give you.
I could go on with what was wrong with the hotel and the food as well as the prices but that would take a few days, that's how bad it was.
I would advise anyone considering this as a hotel for their stay, DO NOT BOOK!!! as you will be disappointed there is no night time entertainment and the service wasnt all that good.

Worse hotel i have ever stayed at!!!!!!

Jun 2011, Simon-m

I really hate to have to write a reviews like this, this is the first time I have ever had to be moved from a hotel. We arrived at this hotel at 11pm, with our 7 year old daughter, we were told we didn't have a room for 3, so i was shown a range of rooms, all with the most disgusting 70s design looking rooms. We decide to go in the room with the double bed so we could all sleep in it. The room had 2 cockroaches on the floor, the tap poured water all over the floor, and the curtains did not fit the windows!!!!
I woke in the morning to go down to the pool to see if this was any better, but no!!! The is pigeon pooh everywhere, and the promised steps down to the beach do not exist.
The staff were unfriendly and the whole place needs a bloody good clean. It is such a shame as this could be a nice hotel if they just looked after it and gave it some much needed updating.
Thankfully we were moved to another hotel in the morning.
If you have booked this hotel good luck!!!

Manolya holiday just great.

Jul 2010, KO

My wife and I have just returned from 2 weeks at the Manolya, what a great location. Mehmet and the staff were most friendly and really spoilt us.
We used the car hire service at the hotel which provided a competative rate. It is well positioned to use as a base to explore the area.
The breakfast could be a little more exciting with fresh fruit and a variety of cereals, the evening meals were quite good with a variety of local dishes.
If you want some where to relax and unwind this is the place to come to.

We stayed at the Manolya for 2 weeks in the Spring, nice temperature and not too crowded.
Had a great time. Made to feel very welcome - We thought it represented great value for money. Staff were helpful and the service brilliant, nothing was too much trouble.
Our room had great sea views, and first-rate facilities, satellite TV, fridge etc. The Hotel is well situated to explore the many local attractions and Kyrenia is not far away.
The hotel is clean and serves good food. There is a fantastic swimming pool over looking the sea, you can swim in the sea from the hotel and there is a small sandy beach right there.
Certainly if we want to go to Cyprus again (we don't often go to the same place twice, otherwise you never see the world before its too late !) we will definitely use the Manolya again.

Stayed at the Manolya for 2 weeks. Had a great time. As before (stayed here a couple of years ago) made to feel very welcome - We thought it represented great value for money. Mehmet the owner and his staff were very kind and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.
I'm extremely pleased we booked to stay at this accommodation. All of the reviews we read before our stay were extremely complementary and I'm very glad to report that ours is no different.
Manolya is everything that everyone else has reported- clean, welcoming, beautiful, friendly etc. And yes, you really do get new towels every day!
We holidayed with our 2 children aged 8 and 11 and they also had an excellent time in the beautiful pool. The food in the restaurant is excellent and good value .The owner Mehmet, very helpful when you need help, friendly and never intrusive.
We flew into Larnaca and Mehmet arranged our transfers. We found this easier than flying into Ercan as we could fly from our local airport at better flying times and the transfer only took 1 1/2 hours.
Many of the people staying there were regular visitors and if we ever return to N. Cyprus we will definitely stay at the Manolya.

Our room which we thought excellent value for money, Had magnificent Sea Views, and first-rate facilities. Mini Bar, Satellite T.V. etc:
The staff and management were extremely helpful on all occasions. The Hotel is ideally situated to explore the many locally attractions and the town of Kyrenia is only 10 Min’s away.
We will definitely return again for another holiday this summer 2008.

My self and my friend have now stayed at the Manolya Hotel since Sept 2001, two weeks and even three and four weeks.
We found the hotel was very nice and local to everything we needed. We liked the beech and going out in the evening. The staff were allways 100% helpful.
We would give them 95 from 100.

Thank you once again for another memorable holiday at the
Manolya.
Both Susi and myself thank you and your staff for excellent
service.
Our room ( 102) had fabulous views and we both went home
completely relaxed and refreshed.
An activity that we tried whilst on holiday was
paragliding. We found a brochure on display at your
hotel.Highline tandem paragliding have a shop in the
harbour in Girne. We were picked up by Highline and taken
to their launch site above St. Hilarion castle about 2500
feet above sea level. We were strapped into a harness with
seat and clipped securely to our pilot and a large
parachute type of wing. When the wind conditions were right
we ran towards a steep slope at the top of the mountain and
after a few steps we were airborne. The pilot controlling
the paraglider looks for warm air which makes the craft
rise. We soared like bird for about 45 minutes. The views of
the mountains, the coast line and the whole area were
amazing. We rose to a height of 1100 metres. Before we
landed we carried out some aerobatic moves which were
better than any roller coaster ride.We landed very softly
and on our feet at a landing site near the main road down
from Karaman. In all we both felt it was an experience of a
lifetime and would recommend it to any of your hotel guests.
Susi also would like your guests to know of the Kyrenia
animal sanctuary. It is an ideal place to visit if you
enjoy a walk in the hills. Visitors can visit daily between
0900 and 1300 just off the main Famagusta road near Arapkoy
and take dogs for a walk in the hills. We enjoy walking, but
we found that visiting the animal sanctuary was a good
excuse for a walk in the hills. The area with fabulous
views down to Turtle beach area is wonderful and the dogs
also enjoy running in the hills

I stayed at the Manolya Hotel for the...
8 / 10
Nov 2005, Mr CB Parker

I stayed at the Manolya Hotel for the second time and found it excellent. In the Northern Cyprus guidebook available at the airport in TRNC (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus) this place is rated as 3-star. Mehmet is wonderful and his staff, who are very young, are friendly and very eager to please the guests.
The foyer of the hotel is beautiful. My husband and I found the rooms to be of good quality. The bed linen was changed daily, and towels the same. We had a full size fridge, a settee, a TV, air-conditioning, and a mini-bar. The beds were twin but could be pushed together to make a double if required. We had a double wardrobe with shelving above and space underneath and also another double pine wardrobe along with a dressing table and stool. Our room had a balcony with both sea and mountain views, which of course could not be sustained for all rooms.
The breakfast was substantial: eggs, salami, fruit, olives, cereal, yoghurt, etc. and omelettes on demand. Tea, coffee, lemon tea were freely available. Invariably on returning to our room during the hot time of day around noon and afterwards I always met the cleaning ladies doing our room. And I have to say our room was always spotless.
We had a wonderful Turkish night in the hotel, and there were plenty of tours advertised along with fishing, boat trips, snorkelling, etc. As anyone who has visited TRNC knows, along certain parts of the Mediterranean there are only stony beaches. To get the best beach you need to go past Kyrenia and to Famagusta and the Panhandle where the finest beaches in the Med are to be found.
The swimming pool at the hotel is lovely, and I found that especially after my knee surgery it was an ideal place to relax. We had problems with the water on the first day of our arrival and we did have a power outage but this again is par for the course for Cyprus. On speaking to other residents during my two-week stay, I discovered that some people had been back for the third and fourth year and had already booked for next year. So have I. I also have recommended this hotel to my friends, as I find that for people of my age, 55-60 plus, it is an ideal place to relax. We had no noise whatsoever to disturb us. We did hire a car from Mehmet at reasonable rates but some nights we walked to different restaurants which are plentiful around Lapta. I certainly would recommend this hotel and Lapta in particular to anyone of middle age and upwards.

Sep 2005, Mr I Young

Mr Small (previous review) must have had a distressing experience, and it was with some concern that we arrived at the Manolya. In the event we suffered none of the problems described. Plenty of hot water (yes the hotel was full), no sign of electrical sockets hanging off the wall, the carpets were fine (although one might ask why carpets rather than tiles, and the mustard colour is asking for trouble). The staff were friendly and helpful, although not exactly pro-active. The room’s air-conditioning worked fine if rather noisy. The interior decor was clean, the exterior mainly ok, but in need of attention in the sea-facing surfaces. The room was cleaned daily. The pool was kept clean and received regular attention. It’s not the hotel’s fault that smoking is virtually compulsory in North Cyprus, and inconsiderate smokers leave traces of their presence. All in all for a hotel, which claims to be of “basic” standard, the Manolya met most criteria. We felt it was reasonable value, and we would use it again.
