All the good comments and positive reviews are spot on about Baros and I would certainly recommend the resort for the highest praise after our not so perfect holiday. We had booked 10 nights at Baros but unfortunately my daughter became seriously ill just over half way through and had to be hospitalised, initially in Male and then flown by air ambulance to Singapore. I would just like to thank all the staff at Baros for their kindness and help during a very stressful time, they were outstanding and did everything in their power to make sure we were looked after. A special thanks to Sunan who accompanied us to the hospital and stayed overnight until the air ambulance arrived the following morning. Two days after my daughter was admitted to the hospital in Singapore the largest basket of fruit and flowers I have ever seen arrived with best wishes from all the staff at Baros. I am pleased to say my daughter is now back in the UK and making a good recovery.
Brilliant!

We were at Baros for one week in the middle of August. Can I just say-WOW!!! Amazing hotel, wonderful rooms ( we had Baros Villa), great service. We took 2 excursions - to Male and Dolphin Cruise. I wouldn't recommend the second one. The sunset was cloudy, so we managed to see just a couple of dolphins, but if u r going not during the rainy season, it's worth to take it. I wouldn't recommend to book water villas, they r good, but u don't have your own beach, and there are a lot of corals around them. But if you prefer this kind of accommodation, take special shoes. You know, we bought this Internet voucher, and we have 23 hours left, so if you want, go ahead!!! Password A 555330 Good luck!!!
Amazing!!!!

Out of this world location, fantastic food, complete tranquility. Fine touches to detail everywhere. We went here for our honeymoon and it was perfect, would recommend it to anyone going to the maldives for a honeymoon or romantic getaway. This is a one in a million location. Especially enjoyed the snorkelling all around the island, the food and the relaxing atmosphere.

We have just returned from a week's say at Baros island Resort and can highly recomend this resort to anyone considering visiting the Maldives. Book a Baros Villa it is beauiful and spacious with your own waterfall shower in your garden bathroom and a little private beach area. Great for total relaxation and comfort. We had fun game fishing, snorkeling and eating lots of lovely food. The staff are very welcoming and are more than happy to go out o their way for you. The resort is in a class of its own I wouldn't bother wasting your time visiting male there is nothing much to do there.

From the moment we walked through into the arrivals hall we were looked after exceptionally well by the people of Baros. We were whisked by boat to the island - onboard which we were given cold water and cool towels. On arrival at the resort we were encouraged to relax in reception with another cool drink and another cold towel. We were then escorted to our beautifully appointed Baros Villa. We looked at the water villas when we were at the resort and unless you were diving continually every day we couldn't see the appeal over the Baros villas. The water was warm, turqoise and filled with wondrous sea life. The beach was white and soft. The food was exceptional. The service outstanding. The Spa is amazing (experienced during the half day of rain - and boy did it rain). I would go back in an instant to the Maldives and I would go back to Baros. But it's not cheap. But worth every penny.
Best honeymoon island!

We have stayed in Baros in August 2006. Even though it was the wet season, we had great weather. Rooms are very comfortable and enjoyable. Water villas are a treat. We loved the personnel, very friendly and attentive, and never disturbing the calm, peacefull atmosphere in the island. One piece of warning, everybody walks around in couples, if you are looking for anything different you must look elsewhere. best way to start a marriege!!!
Come in the waters lovely.................

A great trip but not quite 10/10 Location Probably a bit too close to Male, as you can still see the main Island on the horizon and the odd jet overhead, but acceptable if you know in advance. Water Villa Absolutely fabulous and private, with steps down into the beautiful Indian Ocean, the water was shallow and you do have to wade out over sharp dead broken coral for a swim - swim shoes are a requirement! Deluxe Villa Again fantastic, and not at all dissapointed after moving from our water villa (first 3 nights booked in water villa), but we were careful to choose one that faced out towards the Banyan Tree and with as less amount of sea wall in view as possible (again not looking out to Male). The bathroom was fantastic and the beach area still quite private, although we did scout this out before moving. This was where you can easily explore the wonderful coral just by swimming straight from the beach and out beyond the sea wall. The fish life was very special with Manta Rays, Black Tip Reef Sharks, Trigger Fish and shoals of Fusiliers and Sargeant Majors. Food Breakfasts were great with all fresh fruits available and cooked breakfast if you wanted it. Our lunch was always room service......the only way to dine, if you wanted to stay in your swimsuit!. Dinner was OK, but very expensive if you went for the specials. Complementary 2 bottles of 1lt. water was delivered to your room each day. Trips The dolphin cruise and the snorkelling trip were great and we cannot rate them or the crew highly enough. In summary a great trip and the staff were always very attentive and helpful, and most of them always greeted you with a smile. A fantastic introduction to the Maldives.
Truly Wonderful

We stayed on Baros island for our Honeymoon. We arrived Christmas day, from the moment we stepped on the island we were treated like royalty. Check in is very organised your only concern is if you have time to drink you bucks fiizz before you are whisked away to your villa! We stayed in a water villa (310 which gets the sun set and great for swimming) which really was amazing we had champagne and chocolates in our room, a letter from the manager with complimentary dinner on the beach and a spa treatment each. The room its self was very thought out an excellent mini bar (not so mini) with every thing you could want from fine wine to champagne if you wanted ice all you had to do was call reception and with in minutes some one would come down and fill your ice bucket which would last most of the day. Two bottles of water were left in the room daily (large ones) which was a nice touch. The bed is HUGE and very comfy with the most wonderful views there is a flat screen TV which comes out of the bottom of the bed which was handy if it rained!! The bathroom was very spacious with the bath looking straight out to sea. There are steps leading straight down into the sea i would reccommend to bring some swimming shoes as there is quite a lot of coral we brought some from the shop but were quite expensive. All the restaurants were lovely we enjoyed the lobster and brie paninis at lunch which were to die for! There was lots of varied food on the menu in the main restaurant we were here for two weeks and never ate the same thing twice. The cayenne Grill is amazing (Nothing like what another reviewer said about there only being grilled meat and potato, i think they must of forgotten about the sushi/salad/tapas buffet that is included in your meal and the fact there was lobster, tuna, lamb, prawns etc etc to choose from!!!) The bar area is lovely it is all waiter service and your drinks are served with hot canapes (no need to go to the restaurant really!) The light house is lovely for drinks befor dinner but we found it very expensive to eat . There is a great house reef you dont really need to go on the snorkelling trips as you can see everything just off the island. We visited the Sen Spa a lot ,the treatments are wonderful especially the Balinese Massage. Over all we had an amazing time the staff are so friendly and can not do enough for you, i would reccommend this island to any one , we shall definetely return one day.

Have just returned from Baros. Our third sojurn. Having now cleared the jet lag we find that it was a good trip yet again. But it keeps changing emphasis. We now find a lot more children there than we can ever remember, Not that they caused a lot of noise but there is absolutely nothing on the island that can entertain a child for a full holiday. It's not a childrens island. It was full when we where there (approx 150 guests I believe) but you would never think so apart from breakfast times. Everyone seems to keep to their own bungalow. We had a water bungalow which was excellent but there are good bungalows & better bungalows depending on their orientation to the suns axis. The manager is relatively new to the island (9 months) but is a clever multilingual chap that has the gift of the gab so to speak. Can charm the birds from the trees in many languages. Is a lovely island but not 5 stars, even though the food/drink prices try to reflect this. If anyone has a specific question on Baros please contact me at paul@craneman01.freeserve.co.uk & I'll try my best to oblige.
Most Amazing Place

We have just returned from a 10 nights at Baros. The Island is magnificent and the staff and service were excellent, it was so lovely, and the island was so peaceful. We stayed in the Baros Villa for 7 nights and the Water Villa for 3 nights. I am glad we did this, to have two different experiences. It was nice to people watch (not that there were many) and have the beach experience, but it was nice to have the privacy of the Water Villa as it was our honeymoon. We had Water Villa 314 (the sun was on it all day), and we had Villa 203 in the Baros Villa (this was shaded by 2:30pm, so if you are a sun worshipper you may request a room further up). The décor is really contemporary and you felt like you were in your own little palace. Breakfast was lovely, lots of fresh exotic fruits to choose from (the chef chops what ever you want), various breads, cereals, cooked breakfasts, all kinds of eggs, pastries and cakes, cheeses meats, anything to suit everyone. There were lots to choose from for dinner; firstly the Lime restaurant was casual but great food, and not very expensive. The Cayenne restaurant was very nice and the portions were very large (a bit more expensive than Lime). Then they have the Lighthouse which was amazing (sitting over the water watching the sharks and rays). As for the comment on smoking, I find this difficult to understand, as all the tables are set outside (obviously if bad weather they wouldn’t be) but luckily, we didn’t have any bad weather. The only thing I would say is the “Special theme buffets” they have, are overpriced for what they are, and we didn’t really find them worth the money. $85 - $100 per person for a buffet, and they do have a member of staff that tries to get you to go on every trip and sign up for all the theme nights – which was rather annoying! The bars were really nice too, the bar above the Lighthouse restaurant was great to have cocktails and watch the sunset (they provide free canapés which were oysters etc..) The Snails bar was great too, and they always provided nibbles when up at the bar. There were bands on 3 nights a week that were of a very good standard. On the whole, nearly all the staff we very attentive and friendly, the rooms were serviced twice a day with 2 large bottle of free water. I know there were previous comments about the staff coming in when you are there but if you are on such a small island you are mainly lounging just outside your room on your bit of beach, so this really was not a problem. Our room man was so nice a friendly; he even showed us the other room (Deluxe Villa) which very nice to – not right on the beach though, but near enough! The Spa is great, I had a facial and my husband and I had a massage together, around £45 per treatment, fabulous. We also went diving, which was really good, but to be honest snorkelling is just as good, and we saw everything from turtles, sharks, dolphins, moray eels, eagle rays – it was amazing. As this was out honeymoon they treated us very well, a complementary bottle of $125 bottle of champagne, a candlelit private dinner on the beach, a trip to Male and they even left us a present on the bed, of our last night which was a lovely touch. Overall this island was fantastic and perfect for our honeymoon, as this is the first time we have been to the Maldives, so I appreciate I have nothing to compare it to, but we were very happy here, I have travelled all over to various countries and as my husband would vouch, I am the first to complain and I had absolutely no complaints here. I would go back tomorrow!!!
It has now been 2 1/2 years since we visited Baros and no other place in the world seems as idyllic, as perfect, as amazing as Baros. We couldn't recommend it highly enough. From the minute we were greeted at the airport to the minute we left, we were treated amazingly... more
