Just back from a fantastic break, lived up to what we expected.
The resort is Italian run and used by Brits, Germans, Italians, Swiss and probably others. The dive centre was excellent really look after you, the staff are great, know what they are about and all equipment carried to boat for you.
The entertainment is pretty good considering the mix of nationalities, as to be expected it is biased towards Italy but what else would you expect. All the staff really looks after you, nothing seems too much trouble.
The only minor problem with was the variety of food, bit again that was being addressed while we were there, an Italian chef was actually out in the resort looking at how to improve.
It was our first trip to the Maldives and I really do rate the resort.

My wife and I were overwhelmed by the personal welcome afforded to us by Madi (The lady who appears to be in-charge of the island) and the rest of the senior staff who met us personally from the Seaplane and then saw us off at the end of the holiday.
The food was varied and beautifully made...no complaints whatsoever....There was plenty of choice to suit all tastes, even as awkward as ours. (You know the sort.. we visit a tiny island in the middle of the Indian Ocean, and we don’t eat fish)
My wife also did a PADI Discover Scuba Diving session, which she absolutely buzzed about for weeks after our return.
Ali, the chap who took her out scuba-diving was absolutely fantastic and reassured her throughout, despite her nervous nature.
Even the fact that we were the only two English people on the island for 5 days out of our fortnight stay (on this predominantly Italian tourist resort), we were treated like royalty..
The waters were clear and very calm allowing us to see a fantastic array of sea life, complete with the local friendly Stingray, Nurse shark (who swam silently around the island each evening around dusk) and several trigger fish, Parrot fish and many more besides.
A visit to the local Fisherman Island, included in the holiday, gave an insight into the uncomplicated life of the Maldivian people. We were escorted by Marizio for an informative and interesting guided tour. Noting also that this was one of the islands badly affected by the tsunami back in December.
A dirt road for a main street really brought home the "different world" that is this island..
The "Restaurant boys" and "Room Boys" were true Maldivians brought over from the neighbouring fisherman island, and they appeared to work all day and most of the night...all of them very cheerful and hardworking.
We made many friends on this tiny island, including every single member of the staff, Italian and Maldivian, plus the few Indians, who were all keen to speak the best English they could.
Giann-Luca was the "guitar man" who sang many songs in English, often dedicating them to my wife Mandy, or to the lads behind the bar. Sadly he left the island 20 days after us to take up a post elsewhere.
This is not a holiday for those who have young children, or for those who need constant activity....this is a holiday for those who want to get away from it all...have a real good relax in sweltering sunshine, with the only disturbance coming from the passage of Dhoni boats and Seaplanes.
We were so happy with the holiday that we have re-booked to visit again next September, exactly a year after this one.
We only have fantastic memories and cant wait til we return.

This is our second visit to the Maldives. We found Dhiggiri Island to be wonderful, beautiful and very relaxing. The staff on the island are very friendly.
We stayed in one of the water bungalows - they are on the edge of the island on one side and do not really stand out in the middle of the ocean on stilts. The sun deck on the back of the bungalow was lovely and it also had a cool water shower (not sea water!) to cool yourself off with or wash the sea salt off with.
There are two wooden sunbeds and a small table and towel rail on the sun deck too. The rooms are quite small but just big enough. All the furniture in the room is wooden. The plug sockets in the room were British so we didn’t have use an adapter. The bathroom is quite basic and could do with an update.
The coral around the water bungalows is dead, you need to snorkel out about 100m then its great. I also took the opportunity to do the PADI discover scuba course on the island - my instructor was Ali, very good and looked after me well - saw some brilliant stuff, shark, turtle and thousands of beautiful fish. Beware of the trigger fish!!!
The bar is lovely and sandy, so too is the restaurant - we didn’t put shoes on for the whole week!! The all inclusive package includes the cocktails, beers, spirits and soft drinks etc - I think we drank far too much, we made good use of the all inclusive!!
The food - breakfast - juice, tea, coffee. Toast, pastries, bread. The only hot food at breakfast was the omelettes the chef cooked in front of you at the buffet table if you wanted it. Lots of fruit!! Lunch - I think was the best meal - loads of pasta, salads, fresh fish, roast meats! yummy, buffet - help yourself. Dinner - set meal which they bring out to you very nice. But the best food of the whole week was the Maldivian curry night - wow!
Evening entertainment - starts at 10.30pm - quiz nights, karaoke, dancing, Malidivian - ok, better than the last island we went to - Villivaru. It seemed that on our holiday all the Brits stuck together and we had a fantastic time. Lots of Italians and Germans on the island. Its not really the place to take kids, they will get board easily.
The phone calls were very expensive at the hotel. There are no phones in the room either. There is only one at the main reception desk, you don’t get privacy and the clerk sits in front of you with a stopwatch. We found it cheaper to text or use our mobile phones!! Good reception for T-mobile or orange users.
There are two resident ducks on the island, which roam around freely - lovely. Can you believe it, when we went in august there were no mosquitoes!!! I usually always get bit!! The rooms also have air-conditioning, which is a godsend.
Please feel free to e-mail me if you have any other questions

p.s the island is quite small, only takes 3-4 minutes to walk round!!! and only half of the rooms were occupied so there were only about 25 guests on the island in august. We had no rain, wall to wall sunshine and no clouds!

This was our second visit to the Maldives - a sanctuary from work and the pressures of the Western world. All aspects have provided us with the most excellent of memories.
Our welcome and departure was personal and sincere. Restaurant , Bar, Beach, Accommodation, Kitchen and behind the scenes staff, smiled, spoke and were genuinely sincere. Anna, the island's PR, was super. Multi lingual, she shared her time brilliantly amongst the island's guests.
The Dive School with Franco and Chantal was simply the best. Professional and friendly, efficient and thorough, they supported and guided my personal desire to qualify as a PADI Open Water Diver. Time, patience and 1-1 attention were genuinely provided. My husband (already qualified), gained his Advanced.
Sun, sea, shade and snorkelling - bliss. The Maldives are unique.
The only negative, was the need to buy bottled water ($4.50 a litre) to take back to our water bungalow (superb position near reef). All inclusive should cover adequate amounts of drinking water in accommodation - a health issue. Small quantities of water were given freely if carried in a plastic cup from the bar.
Dhiggiri isn't an option next year as it is not in the Kuoni brochure. My husband and I were either the only two, or two of the only four English on the island during our stay. This apparently had been the trend over the season.
Life can open new chapters. Ours is to keep fit, keep healthy and keep diving.
