We have just returned from the Sand Club. We booked it privately with someone who owns an apartment on the complex. The it was like a home from home. We were worried looking at the other reviews, but the owner said these apartments were the ones owned by the hotel company, but it seems to have gone bankrupt so they are not being used. This also means the Reception is closed not that this was a problem because were sent the apartment key by post and he emailed a very useful booklet.
The apartment was very clean and roomy. We booked it because it had a double bed. We also liked that it had British TV, which meant we could keep an eye out regarding the dust cloud. The welcome pack was a nice touch.
The pool area had just been renovated and is a good place to get your tan. It is really quiet and no fighting for a sun bed.
The complex is near the flight path for the planes but we soon got used to them.
There are plenty of bars & resturants nearby and down by the sea, but it looks like there were more because there were a few vacant spaces.
The local supermarket is a bit pricey and we would recomend you bring out tea & coffee.
It is funny because although it is n't "the real Spain" we found out that about a third of the people who live on the complex are Spanish, but you do not tend to them in the local bars at night.

Having read other reviews before we stayed here, I was, to say the least a little worried!!!
We went with the thought that we'd make the best of a bad lot,and enjoy the sunshine!
We arrived around lunchtime and on visiting the reception were mwt by a very friendly lady receptionist, who assured us that our apartment was lovely.
We were pleasantly surprised when entering the apartment, It was basic (what do you want with the prices we paid)? but very clean and bright.
There was no Kettle but we knew this when we booked so brought one with us!(they were only 5 euros a week to hire anyway) also you can hire a microwave for 30 euros and it arrived the same day, The staff were so helpful and friendly, they couldn't do enough to help.
The pool was clean and had plenty of sun loungers,The pool area was cleaned daily.
The pool bar was shut but that was probably because we stayed so early in the season and it was not a problem anyway.
The shops and restaurants were a short walk away and it was a lovely, safe and friendly atmosphere, we had no problem with rowdyness as the resort was very quiet.
The local super market was a short walk away also and had all you would need for your stay' Although more expensive than the larger one a bit further away.
I just want to put anyone's mind at rest if they are worried about staying here (as I was) as it was lovely, It was clean, friendly, sunny, andin a convenient location.
I would not be put off by other reviews as people tend to just find fault and not see the positives!
P.s we booked with onthebeach.com
ENJOY!!!!!!!

Stayed in nearby Sunset View apartments in November through same tour operator but was not available for February.Sand Club was the same design as the Sunset View and we loved the location ,so we booked it.On arrival we were pleasantly greeted at reception and taken by a nice lady to our apartment. It was very basic but we expected it due to price. It was very clean but lacked a kettle and a door was falling off.Water and shower was hot for the first day and then all HELL let loose NO water. On investigation I went to the water supply at the bottom of the appartment NO pipes,we had been cut off(the pipes leeding to the meter had been removed)Went to see the rep of Med Hotels (poor Girl)who was surronded by angry guest and she coped very well.We got transfered to 4**** GOLF PLAZA wow we hit the jackpot at no expense to us.Had a great time.

This is the first time we have been to the Sand Club and had an enjoyable week. We have stayed in Golf Del Sur before. We booked directly with an owner through the internet. The apartment was very clean and fully equipped; we had a free welcome pack which even included a couple bottles of wine. I know people do not go holiday to watch TV, but the wife liked the fact that the TV had BBC & ITV, which meant she could watch Emmerdale whilst doing her make up before we went out. The complex, although quiet, only has a swimming pool - there are no other facilities other than the reception. The sun beds have seen better days. The owner told me the pool was due for refurbishment in Nov, but because the guy who owns the apartments that are used by the holiday companies has not paid for his share of the costs, so this has been put back to next Feb/March. Apparently the complex is a mixture of privately owned apartments and those still owned by the original developer. It is these latter ones that are used by the holiday companies. We have read the other reviews about the complex and it looks like these people who end up in the developer’s apartments get a poor/bad deal, whilst those who like us go direct to the private owners - which are not used by the holiday companies get the good ones. The owner told us the private owners are not happy with the original developer and he is being sued by them for money he owes and this was before the credit crunch! This would explain why he wants to charge for everything in his apartments and skimps on the cleaning. We would say do not be put off by those reviews from those who got their accommodation through the holiday companies, but get your apartment direct from a private owner and book your flights separately, you will find that the costs are about the same. However, if you want a package from a holiday company - then do not use the Sand Club. We booked the apartment through Holiday Lettings - the apartment reference number is 3844. Oh and yes we would stay at the Sand Club again.

well where do i start??? Got there at 6am and were greated by the security guard who spoke no english and all he did was point at notices that were on the desk. After finding our apartment in the dark we had a quick look round before hitting the sack on a bed which was broken!!! The appartment was clean and it stated that the bedding and towels were changed once a week, we got there Sat and and they changed the bedding that day!!! the towles were changed later in the week when they came to clean the room, by clean i mean they gave it a cat lick they never brushed up they just ran a mop over it and never even went on the balcony wich was very dusty. After 5 days there we found out our flights had been changed, so we wanted to keep the room on so we went to reception which was ment to be open from 10 till 6. On the door there was a sign saying back in 20 minutes so we sat there for 20minutes with several other people 20 minutes came and went in the end we rang a number which was at another hotel a mile away and were told to go there luckly we had hired a car, (Oh by the way ensure you check the tyres!!!! we hadnt and went up mount teide only to find out that our tyres were bald and i mean bald the wire was coming out of the drivers side!!!! )
We got to the hotel to be told that the receptionist had gone to our apartments!! when she did turn up she was extermley rude and un helpful she said we couldnt keep the room on even though the apartments were empty, she eventualy let me ring the company who i'd booked with and they let me get in touch with a rep who sorted it out for us. On the day we were meant to check out we went to the reception to pay for the extra night and there was no one there so we rang the reception number to be told we had to walk up to the hotel There was a man there who wanted to check out and leave his luggage there and collect it later that night. The man ended up sitting outside the reception for hours to finally ring the number to be told that he would have to take his luggage up there he was not impressed to say the least, his family had gone off to do last minute shopping and he was meant to be meeting up with them! Any way we got up to the hotel which was up a hill to pay for the room which she did knock the price down for us after i complained about having to go to the hotel. I asked if the security guard would be there at 1am to hand our key in as he had a tendancy to go for walks and she ensured me he would be. We got to the reception at 1am to find nobody there and our coach turned up to take us to the airport there was no letter box so i just shoved the key under the door. So make note dont get a security box as you'll never get your deposit back with out having to make several phone calls and hanging about wasting your holiday!!!!!!!

after paying nearly £500 per person, for what we expected to be a great getaway, sun, sea an relaxation, we were greatly disapointed! upon arrival we were given our room keys and with little help on the direction of our apartments from the little english speaking receptionist we wanderd up and down steps to locate our aparments, one thing we noticed instantly was that the place was desserted which initially we thought was fantastic but once we opend the door to our apartment we soon realised the reason why!!!! the whole apartment hadn't throughly been cleaned, the beds were small, old and falling apart, there was paint and plaster pealing off the walls with a dim light that was of no use at all, the curtains were holey and faded, the bathroom was dirty with a shower that was unusable as the water didnt actually aim for you, it simply went in every other direction, during our stay we had an outbreak of ant infestation in the bathroom and kitchen, there was no tv, no kettle, toaster, minimal cutlery, no oven, broken freezer, no outdoor table or chairs, a bed in the lounge big enough for a small child, unfortunatly a member of our party was over 6ft tall and so as you can imagine this was very unappropraite. one of the apartments we rented had no hot water and so some members of the party were moved to another improved apartment??? although they had no lighting apart from the striplight in the bathroom. i cannot stress to you how truely awful these apartments were! The pool which was advertised as having a pool bar, was dirty, surrounded by holey, faded, dirty sunbeds, the pool bar didnt open at all and it really wasnt much better quality to the apartments. on the plus side the weather was fantastic and tenerife itself really is beautiful, we managed to make the most of our holiday but i really do stress to you that sand club!!!!!!! is not worth a penny, stay elsewhere.

Do not stay here unless you have booked privately! Upon arrival to our SELF CATERING (!) apartment, we found our kitchen to have just 2 electric rings, which never worked, no oven, no grill, the plug sockets were hanging off the walls, the freezer was almost warm, the safe wouldn't work so time wasted then waiting for someone to come & fix it, there was ingrain food on the kitchen table - Yuk! It was disgusting! We spoke to the decent English speaking Receptionist at the Reception who kindly arranged for us to move apartments. We moved and altho' this was a bit better it was not brilliant. As for the single beds, my husband went to move the beds together but the headboards were nailed to the wall!! My son got stuck in the bedroom for a while as there was a nack to opening it, one of the legs on the kitchen table came off, all 4 chairs were wobbly & nailed together with nails here there & everywhere, no fan or air con which is ludicrous in those temps, holes in the wall where the washing airer had been on the balcony, also the same in the bathroom no towel rail, no grill, very little utensils, not even a teaspoon! When we left at 830am Reception wasn't open,, there was no notice on the door saying what people are supposed to be doing with their keys & how they get their Safe deposit back when Reception are not open!! Luckily we had friends staying at Suuset View who took them back another time. Sunset View's Reception was manned by pleasant, friendly, English speaking staff 24/7. The pool at Sand Club had no shade at all, the bottom of the pool was dirty even tho it had just been cleaned, the sun beds were dirty & torn allong with the dirty little tables next to them, of which 1 had piece of dirty plaster on! We spent most of our days by Sunset View's pool with our friends and did not let this awful experience of an awful apartment spoil our holiday!

"My advise to other holiday makers is to book their apartment privately with the owners as the companies who rent on this complex do not appear to accept any responsiblity for the contents of the apartments."
This what we did after reading the comments from this site. We had none of the problems described by the others. We were sent the apartment key in advance and a nice information pack and excellent details on how to find the apartment. We arrived late a night and the welcome pack provided by the owner was welcome. The aprtment was very clean and tidy. It was like a home from home - it had British TV, Hi-fi, oven, dishwasher, freezer, microwave, washing machine and a safe, in fact we wanted for nothing. Other than stocking the fridge up with beer! Though owner said that could have been arranged!! The complex only has a swimming pool. There is no poolside bar or cafe. The sunbeds are a bit tired and jaded - but owner has told us that the pool and terraces are going to refurbished in November - so the pool might not be available - so watch out for this. We spoke to some people at the who were asking about the state of our apartment, who had booked through a holiday company and when they saw our apartment and asked what we paid - they were really upset - I will not use their actual words. They felt robbed.
There are plenty of resturants and bars nearby. Also the area is under the flight path to the airport - but we soon got used to the noise. If you are a plane spotter it would be paradise!
From reading the other reports I would agree do not rent these apartments from a holiday company from an owner. Just use Google or Yahoo and you will find plenty of sites.

The apartment was drab, equipment very minimal ie no kettle, no toaster, no grill, no teapot, no tin opener, no egg cups, no jugs, no bowls, no basins. Limited amount of pans, one very small frying pan, limited amount of cutlery and what was there had rust spots on them. When asked about equipment we were told that any equipment we didnt have had to be hired. This resulted in most of our meals being eaten out. When we complained to the company, we were told that as the apartment was described as having a kitchenette this was all they had to provide.
It will certainly be our last holiday there and with this company.
My advise to other holiday makers is to book their apartment privately with the owners as the companies who rent on this complex do not appear to accept any responsiblity for the contents of the apartments.

Hi after reading some of the reviews here before going to the Sand Club Apartments we were a bit apprehensive as to what we would find there but it turned out all our fears were unfounded. We were met on arrival by the security man and he took us straight to our apartment even carrying our luggage. The apartment was clean and tidy and the cleaners came round the apartments three times the week that we were there.Only thing we didn't like was that we had to hire a kettle and a hairdryer, but this is probably because previous Brits before us had stolen them so it was no fault of the Sand Club. The village nearby was very good for shopping , meals and entertainment. The Spanish shop was the best place to exchange money and made no difference if you changed Scottish or English notes. On our departure the security man again came up trumps by having a taxi waiting right outside our apartment for us at 4 a.m. Overall a nice quiet resort with nice friendly people. Found the sand club the same as many others... a disgace!
The doors wouldn't lock, the electrics weren't safe and any extras like fans, kettle they charged a premium for you to hire them!
We seemed to have been quite lucky we only had a filthy disgusting apartment with ants not cockroaches! The pool bar was there but not open and hadn't been for several months, the low flying planes didn't really bother us but the sheer substandard accommodation did, the last thing you want to do when you go on holiday is to start cleaning and scrubbing every room, Our first port of call was the Netto for 20 Euros worth of cleaning goods to clean everything down, cupboards, fridge and bathroom before we could actaully use any of it!
Word of warning! Book at your peril unless your not very choosy and don't mind sleeping in a hovel!

I had read alot of these reveiws and decided to book privately. The lady was very friendly and provided all the info we needed. The apartment was clean and fully functioning and even had a working sky box! The local area is very friendly and has very nice shops. The only thing i can pick at is that the pool is cold on a morning ... but other than that a great place and hoping to revisit soon.
