We chose Maldives for our honeymoon and Meedhupparu Island was simply paradise.
The island never felt like a hotel, the beach bungalow we had was lovely and clean - cleaned twice a day! Beach towels provided, sun loungers outside bungalow (which we dragged few feet to the beach each day - although some on the beach anyway), staff were friendly but not intrusive, and no-one tried to flog us anything, which was a first for a holiday!
The restaurant was superb, we'd never stayed all inclusive before and had been apprehensive, but the 4 star food available each day was unbelievable. Apparently the food is rotated every 21 days - so you never really get the same thing in a 14 day holiday. Different fish day n night, rice’s, different bread (banana bread, tuna bread, garlic bread etc), lots of choice, always pasta dish too. Really first class food. Water villas just finished whilst we were there - and look absolutely stunning. Expensive, but wow.
Only small issue we had was husband is frightened to death of spiders, and we encountered 2 HUGE spiders in our room - on consecutive days, room boy sorted killing them for us - and was at end of holiday, so not a problem, but hubby struggled to sleep after this, coz he's petrified of them and they are really, really big, however, nobody else spotted them, and think if your not bothered about spiders you’d be fine (didn't really bother me). Think we were just unlucky.
Sea, fab - snorkeling in shallows or deeper was amazing
Food - fab. Beach - wonderful - no rows of sun beds, just paradise. Entertainment - band/music most nights, local stuff but quite pleasant, karaoke once/twice a week - good fun. Fire eating and things couple of nights. Great mix of Brits, Italians and German - although I’d say mostly Brits when we went (4th April for 2 weeks).
Sea plan transfer - just brilliant! Was dreading this, but brilliant. We traveled Star Class Premier with First choice - definitely recommend this for the 11+ flight. Really flew by and no delays at all.

Meedhapparu was brilliant. The staff was great and the island is beautiful. The buffet restaurant was great every day and I can recommend the romantic lobster meal. The deserted island and night fishing excursions were good fun. The beach bungalows were nice and always clean.
My only complaints would be the weather was rainy a few days but that can't be helped and we flew Monarch which is not a good airline.
Can recommend this resort to anyone and do plan on going back.

We have just returned from this holiday destination and we can only say what a great resort this is. No one to sell you anything or hassle you to go on trips. Just pure relaxation in a lovely setting .
Congratulations to all the staff Christmas Eve who put on a splendid celebration meal, it was very spectacular and delicious. Keep up the good work in running this hotel to the standard as it is being run as it would make a very good all inclusive couples resort.

My partner and I have just returned from a fantastic 11 night holiday on Meedhupparu Island resort.
We booked the holiday with Mercury Direct, who handled the booking efficiently. We also liked the fact that, through this operator, we were able to take advantage of scheduled flights with Emirates airline.
We were very impressed by the level of service we received from the resort staff, who were both efficient and friendly during the entire duration of our stay.
The food was of excellent standard, with a wide range of dishes available at each meal sitting. We would also recommend the romantic lobster dinner (at an additional cost - but definitely worth it) in which you dine under the stars on the beach. The numerous courses were delicious and beautifully presented.
The accommodation is all in beach bungalows, although they were currently in the process of building a small stretch of water bungalows - which looked very nice. Our beach bungalow was clean and pleasantly furnished, with an airy feel, due to the high ceiling and french windows opening on to your own wooden decked verranda.
The beach is lovely; soaking up the sun during the day, watching the amazing sunsets and star gazing at night. Personally one of the highlights was the snorkelling - seeing all the different types of fish including sting rays, only a couple of metres from the shore.
The only criticism is the presence of erosion on one area of the island, which has meant the sea reaches right up to a couple of the beach bungalows (currently not in use), which also meant that you were not able to walk around the island completely. However this was a minor issue, and was far outweighed by all the positive points about this island.
This was a charming island, with staff who demonstrated their utmost to ensure your holiday lived up to expectations. We'd definitely return and would recommend this island as a perfect holiday destination.

Whatever you do, pay the extra for a seating upgrade on the flight. It was such a comfortable journey and the service exemplary.
On arrival at Male we were whisked off the plane into air conditioned buildings to collect our baggage and pass through customs, all of which was very quick and overseen by very friendly locals. Non of the outrageous paranoia that you get on arrival in the USA!
After quickly checking in with the tour operator we were taken by mini-bus to the Air Taxi departure dock ( a five minute drive).Once there we were treated with great courtesy by the staff, one of whom took my partner to a seat in the shade as she has to use a walking stick.
Twenty minutes later we were called to our "taxi" and the real trip began. Though somewhat nervous as I had never been on a seaplane before the take off was both smooth and exciting, a credit to our Canadian pilot. The 40 minute flight to our island was one of the highlights of our holiday. All the pictures we had seen of these islands just did not do them justice, it is a sight that once seen, never forgotten. Truly stunning.
On arrival at Meedhupparu we were greeted by very friendly and helpful staff who took us to the reception area for a chilled cocktail and a chilled towel to wipe ourselves with. Both most welcome. Fifteen minutes later we were in our accommodation. A huge beach side chalet with 2 showers (1 outside), a large bathroom, plenty of wardrobe space a huge bed and most importantly, air conditioning. Open the patio doors and five yards in front of you is white sand and pure blue sea.
The resort facilities were impressive, tennis courts, large swimming pool, a diving school, a snorkeling and sailing instructor. An Italian entertainment team provided the cabaret most nights in their open air theatre and a local singer was on most nights in the open air bar. There was also a disco but I don't think it was used very much because people wanted to be outside. There is also a full blown health spa with massage and all the works in the resort. We didn't use it but others did and they all gave glowing reports.
Never in my life have I seen such a variety of food on offer. Breakfast was anything you wanted from cereal, toast, fresh fruit to full fry up, fresh omlettes, too much to remember.
Every day there was freshly grilled fish (locally caught) and meats including pork which surprised me as the Maldives are Muslim republic. Different pasta's and sauces, Maldivian dishes, English dishes, Italian dishes, Sri Lankan and Indian dishes. Far to many different types of food to mention but needless to say that what ever your food likes and dislikes, there is no way you will go hungry.
The staff at the resort were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. There is a full laundry service on offer at a very reasonable price.
There are four small shops at the resort selling gifts, clothing and other essentials like Mars Bars! Everything purchased is put onto your bill and you settle up before you leave so there is no real need for loads of cash. Just take enough to tip the staff, they do a great job and the tips top up their meager pay.
Do not take anything other than t-shirts, shorts and flip flops, you won't need it. Plenty of sun cream and bug spray, the bugs were a pain in the early evening.
Do try the "shopping" trip to Fisherman's Island but don't expect Marks and Sparks or the like, only local crafts on sale. Also try the sea fishing, there are some big ones out there !!
If you are really lucky you may see a turtle or two.
This was the most relaxing holiday ever, please if the chance ever comes up, go there, i promise you will not regret it
Oh! one last thing, treat your other half to a romantic meal under the stars, you choose from a full a la carte menu and your waiter stays with to make sure your every need is catered for.
Go for it.
