Honeymoon Heaven..............!
My (new) wife and I have just returned from Cocoa Island after the most amazing and fantastic week of our lives. We knew the hotel was going to be special, however never knew it would be as nice as it was. The staff were excellent, the standard of the water bungalows was way beyond 5* and the restaurant served an excellent variety of dishes. If anyone is looking at Cocoa Island as a potential destination then I could not reccomend it more highly - if you are looking for a Honeymoon destination, then it was heaven!
Fantastic!!
We have recently stayed at Cocoa Island for 2 weeks on our honeymoon, the island is totally fantastic. It is so peaceful and relaxing. We hardly saw any other guests, some evenings we had the restaurant to ourselves, pure bliss! The food is incredible, at least one thing on the menu changes daily and we found plenty of choice available. On one of our last nights the chef made us up several different curries, rices, breads and chutneys and we had free drinks all night courtesy of the restaurant manager. The lime soufle is the best pudding... more
why did we wait so long?!
We chose Cocoa for our honeymoon retreat and were not disappointed. This was one of the most beautiful/peaceful islands we have stayed on - perfect sands, warm crystal waters, fantastic sunsets and a real hide out oasis from the rest of the world! Rooms are wonderfully clean - this is the first time that we didn't have to inspect the rooms for insects - there were none (a refreshing change!) The food is amazing - true that the menu could be changed occasionally, however almost not worth mentioning as there are too many plus points... more
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
My partner and I have visited many luxury resorts around the world and Cocoa Island is now among our favourites. We are not the easiest people to please but rarely have we found so little things to fault. We tend to choose Four Seasons resorts as they always deliver a good product but we found Cocoa Island to be at the same level of quality. We chose Cocoa over the many other luxury resorts because of its small size and the good food reviews. The island, and especially the sea around it, is a true paradise. No photo justifies the... more
little island aradise
it was just like a dream...imagine paradise and you will return to Cocoa. Our third trip to Maldives lead us to this tiny island where perfect discrete service, wonderful spa-treatments, great food and gorgeous sunset cruises top a wonderful landscape. Perfect for anyone who just wants to relax in a family atmosphere without having to dress up all the time (you may leave your shoes at home -won´t need them!)
What more can you say?
Although I have written several reviews for Trip Advisor this year, Banyan Tree Seychelles, La Residencia Deia and Prestonfield Edinburgh, this is the first time that I have little to add to the comments made by other reviewers. Cocoa Island is a very special place. We choose it after reading the reviews on this site, and I can now tell you that they were all accurate. This is not a place to go for entertainment, it's somewhere where you can escape from...well everything really. Of course, you can wind surf, canoe, sail, fish,... more
Wonderful Experience!
I agree with all the positive reviews and want to add a some thoughts: 1. A factor in the choice of this resort was that it is not located underneath the flight path of planes coming in and out of the Maldives. I've heard this is a problem at other resorts. Imagine how annoyed you'd be! 2. We wanted somewhere we could get to and from by boat, not small plane. Less expensive, and sort of comforting in a wierd way. Did not feel this detracted from any sort of privacy. 3. Even thought the maldives suffered from extensive... more
Perfect for relaxation
This was a resort that to us was heaven on earth ! - The proviso being this is a place you come to RELAX - although there is plenty of daytime activity, ie snorkling, scuba, sailing, fitness & hydrotherapy suites and massage. Do not go for evening activity - it is wonderfully low key and non existant!. The food and service is fantastic - we booked full board for 14 nights and found it too much! - half board is more than adequate. Be aware that, as in hotels of this quality and in this part of the world, wine is quite expensive ( between £20-30... more
Fantastic
What an amazing place! The best place I have ever been to. The food is out of this world. Very relaxing indeed. Perfect place for a honeymoon
Great resort, with food a surprise hit
We stayed the week before Christmas 2004 and the tsunami. We've been to the Maldives a few times now and this was clearly the best by far. While the houseboats on which you stay are less private than some of the garden villas of the Banyan Tree for example, the rooms are larger and nicer and most likely more private that the Banyan's beach front rooms. With only half the villas standing after an earlier fire, the resort really feels empty all the time. The only time you become conscious of people is when everyone suddenly decides to go for a... more
