Lohifushi Island Resort Reviews
" A Wonderful Island. We had the best... "

A Wonderful Island. We had the best holiday ever and will go back to Lohifushi this year as well. If you are looking for a totally relaxing holiday then this is the place. The Staff were extremely friendly and efficient.
The service you receive is as good as any 5* hotel in Britain. The food is buffet style, catering for all tastes. There was always a local dish, Asian dish and European dish to choose from. We personally could not fault the food.
The Island is divided into two areas, with the Surf area to the South and the clear still waters to the North. Snorkelling is a must and Lohifushi has some of the best Coral anywhere in the Maldives. Facilities are basic but more than adequate. If you want ultimate luxury then you go to the Hilton resort etc and pay those prices. Lohifushi has a gym, tennis court, 2 swimming pools, table tennis, volleyball court and the Staff are always looking for guests to join them in their nightly football match.
In terms of what package to go on we went Half Board which we were more than happy with. If you like your drink then it will probably work out cheaper to go All Inclusive. Do not go Bed and Breakfast as you have no alternative but to eat on the island obviously! Prices are not cheap for drinks but no more expensive than other top class holiday destinations.
In summary Lohifushi is a wonderful island with first class service, fabulous beaches and glorious weather.

" Just had to clarify the previous... "

Just had to clarify the previous review. We went to this resort in December and had a great time. The food was great and the effort the Maldivians went to for things like the Christmas Eve dinner was truly humbling. The waiters and other staff on the island were fantastically friendly and again couldn't do enough to help.
I would agree that going B&B is an expensive option and half or full board is better but the island works on a tab system and you get a receipt and have to sign for every drink or meal that you have so you should know exactly what you are spending.
This means that you do have a receipt for everything you sign and so long as you keep a running tab of these there are no surprises at the end of the holiday when you pay for it all.

" I feel a bit mean saying that this... "

I feel a bit mean saying that this Island should be avoided, but it's the truth.
We booked B&B based on reading reviews on websites. Big mistake. This turned out to be a very expensive option. After 8 days I reviewed my tab and found that we had run up $1000 worth of drinks and food. This consisted of maybe 2 or 3 cokes during the day, 2 cokes & 3 or 4 beers and meals for two in the evening.
The food was a major disapointment. The food in the main buffet restaurant was barely edible most evenings. A better option was to use the other resturants and order from the menu, better choice and price. I must admit that I felt hungry for most of the holiday. You will also have a 10% service charge added to everything, even if you serve yourself from the mini bar in your room.
It's a beautiful island and the staff and very friendly, but if you are not a surfer I think you may feel a bit left out. It appears to be being sold as a surfing destination, lots of Australian and Portugese surfers.
Do not, and i really mean, Do NOT fly Monarch. Gatwick to Manchester then on to Male, 13.5 hrs. No leg room. Old Plane. Never again. We spoke to other people at the Airport when returning, they all had lovely time. So I'm sure that the other Islands are great. They were all Fully Inclusive and if I were to return to the Maldives I'd go to one of the Islands further from Male in the north of the North Atol. They transferred by seaplane but everyone that we spoke to who did this had a great time.
Lohifushi is too expensive. I thought it was about twice as expensive as central London. If you go here at least go fully inclusive, but then again you will have to eat in the buffet. Maybe just dont go to Lohifushi unless you dont eat or drink.

The island itself is fantastic I can not sing enough praises about the staff. We had flowers laid out on the bed, the table made up for a romantic meal in the restaurant, we were made a fuss of, as was everyone who was there as you have your own waiter. Our waiter always had our drinks waiting for us when we arrived for dinner, the bar staff were great too as was our room boy. They make a real effort to do different things to keep you entertained, such as disco's, lobster dinner on the beach, traditional Maldivian musicians, karaoke and more.
I loved this island so much, it had everything we needed without being an over the top spa hotel which is the same as all the others of it's kind no matter what country you are in. If you want that go to one in the UK it's cheaper!
The food was lovely, and we always took a little bit of bread back from dinner to take up the jetty and feed to the sharks at night! The scuba diving school is also worth a look as are the day trips. Do not listen to previous comment. The island is fantastic. However I don't recommend going B&B or half board to any Maldivian island as it works out more expensive.
I will definitely go back there again and again!
