Peace perfect peace!
I was worried about some of the reviews of this island but when we arrived was pleasantly surprised. True, its not one of the higher class resorts but we found it to be just what we wanted. The rooms were clean if a little dated, but hey - clean linen daily, a hot shower and quite comfy bed, and we didn't come on holiday to paradise to spend much time indoors! The restaurant was great, food lovely with plenty of choice. The chef's were great fun - especially Mooki whose omlettes are to die for! The bar was really nicely laid... more
Didn't quite like this place
I'm an independent solo traveller who went to Eriyadu last year. I wasn'n thrilled with the experience. Many before me have commented on the importance of getting the right location for the room. I don't see how it really matters as they all look run down. You'll have to maneuver your sun chair through the shrubs and onto a good stretch of sand regardless of what roomnumber you have. (Maybe except for a few "lucky" rooms.) The food was nothing to write about. The spa was nothing, compared to Komandoo's spa. On the bright side, the dive... more
Lovely Little Island - Would Go Back!
I booked this holiday just 3 weeks before I went. I travelled on my own, and as a girl it was a place I could go and not feel pestered. Upon landing in the Maldives, I was impressed by the lovely speed boat that collected me and took me for the 50 minute trip to the island. The island was smaller than I first thought, and I could walk around it within 20 minutes. However the staff are friendly, and they always greet you when they pass you. Its very much a "no news, no shoes" resort. Very relaxed. The rooms are very... more
Great diving, snorling beach & food, spoilt by ants & mosquitos
We stayed in Eriyadu in mid July as part of a two centre package. It is so close to being a perfect getaway location, but for us it was ruined by a few points – whether it suits you depends on your priorities I suppose. The introduction via a superb 40 minute ride from the airport on an immaculate, large fast speedboat ride on calm seas - even my wife, who hates boats enjoyed it. The return later showed that on rough seas the same trip is very unpleasant & feels like it takes forever. It all depends on your luck with the... more
Snorkelling par excellance...
We arrived in Male at 10.pm and were initially worried about how late we were going to arrive at the resort. What a lovely surprise to find that there was a 3 minute walk to the transfer speedboat, and within what seemed like moments (but was actually 45 minutes) we were walking down the pier to the check in at Eriyadu resort. They efficiently checked us in, and the porters carried out bags down the sandy pathway to room 118. We didn't really know what to expect from the room, and at first we were taken aback to find that the... more
More like a 3 star resort
This is not a 4-star resort as advertised on various web sites. On our first night we were given a room in the 161-169 double storey terraces, which almost made me cry. The room was small and felt like a cheap motel - and the view in front is thick vegetation and a huge sand mount to be used for making the numerous sandbanks that littered the tiny island. Thankfully they gave us room 145 the following day which is their second category of room (single-storey semi-detached chalet), which had a slightly better view and larger space. Still the... more
brillant island, as long as your not expecting it to be above 3*
Eriyadu 28 June to13 July 2007 We booked a last minute deal with First Choice, for a chartered flight, we were very impressed, with the flight and the food, apart from a bit annoying to have to pay for soft drinks, and pay to upgrade the entrainment system, so you can stop and watch any time, as well as more movies and games. They were very slow in serving the food, I heard a few people asking when food was to be served, but they did the drinks round first, asking if you would like snacks, as food would be a while, so I felt that was a... more
Fantastic Island, didn't want to leave
We booked with Kuoni for a last minute holiday to Eriyadu. We had been to the Maldives before but never this Island. The flight was with Airtours and because we were so late booking I was only able to upgrade to Premium on the return journey. The flight out in Economy was virtually empty which meant we both had a 3 seat row to sleep in. After a very comfortable flight during which we slept most of the way, we arrived refreshed. Transfer from Male to Eriyadu took about 50 minutes in a lovely speedboat. The sea was flat and we... more
Nice and cosy, maybe not for more than once.
Our 6th trip to the Maldives. We have already booked for april 2008!! Eriyadu? Small, very small. This is ok as long as one can walk around it, but erosion had taken most of the beach. The remaining beach is lovely. Very nice quality sand. In june rooms 154-160 are by far the best. Sunset AND big bulge of beach. Food was good but not amazing. Go half board. AI not possible. Good and cheap food in the coffeeshop. Bar great! Good prices and great service (thank you Hassan!!) beer 3 $, water 3$, cocktail 7-10 $, food 6-9$. Bottle of... more
Superb place - better than expected
The water sprayed up against the side of the speedboat as it cut through sea on its way to Eriyadu. This 55 minute thrilling ride was to be a prelude for a great holiday in the Maldives. My wife and I went to the Maldives as independent travellers (ie booked our own flights and accomodation). Booking direct with the hotel we paid $90 a Beach Villa, Full Board for both of us and return transfers were $90 each. It was off season. Anyway, we were really apprehensive as we had been really dissapointed by the last resort we stayed in... more
