Submitted By: Mrs P CunninghamVery clean apts, great views of amadores beach, large balcony good tip buy a parasol and a couple of blow up lilos and sunbathe on the balcony all afternoon, does get quite intense the heat though so be careful!!
Rooms were clean, towels changed nearly everyday only left when maids not around on sundays, sheet only changed twice on a two week holiday which was the only bad thing, could do with fans in the room, as at night when getting ready to go out, it was a bit hot.
Pool bar was great and the bar man Jose was fantastic, there every morning with a couple of cups of coffee, he always has a smile and works really hard!!
Restaurant food was ok not bad for a cheap meal, great garlic bread though, not so good Sangria! Some of the restaurant staff a bit miserable but the big guy (you will know who i mean) is great good laugh and always gives a free honey rum (a very large one) at the end of the meal.
Best place to visit for breakfast is the London Pride in Amadores all English product great to cure a hangover!
Bit of a walk but it is all down hill to amadores but a great beach, one tip get a taxi back about 3 euros.
The Duke of York at amadores great for a meal then a short walk around the coast line into puerto rico.
Best restaurant for a special occasion is the great restaurant near the beach in Puerto Rico, it is called the Rhodes Palace, it is upstairs from all the electic shops that try to sell you cameras for 10euros!
This restaurant is fantastic we go back again and again every year, very authentic greek cuisine , and you get loads, make sure you dont eat all day, before you visit, as the starters are as big as the main meals, its slightly more expensive than your normal run of the mill places but as i say it great for a special occasion and you do get what you pay for! By far the best Sangria in the whole of puerto rico, and a great hostess that remembers us year after year.
Europa centre 10 mins walk up the hill from the hotel, great for entertainment, especially Turbos, and the Blaney stone, avoid Yates if you are over 30!
Mary D good pub with great entertainment.
Would return to this hotel, having tried a few different ones, this is my 8th year with my husband and over twenty times being back in GC, cant wait for next year!!
Best place in the world!!

Submitted By: MrsYoungThis was a cheap trip for us, which I booked after reading reviews on the apartments. I wasn't disappointed. It has a fab view over Amadores Beach, whereas many other hotels in the area overlook rubble or shops etc. Our balcony was big and pleasant to sit out on.
The staff weren't very friendly, don't think I saw any of them crack a smile even once!! But on the rare occasion we needed help of some sort, we were dealt with promptly
The apartment was spacious enough, with basic cooking facilities. Maid was round most days, but the bedding was only changed once in the 2 weeks. Also we purchased toilet roll, just to be safe so we never got caught short, thus the maid didn't leave us any toilet roll until the second week when we hid our own stuff.
The onsite supermarket is expensive for most things (but not all), worth taking a walk down to the Spar on the way to Amadores beach and getting a taxi back up. Or the Hiper Dino in the centre of Puerto Rico
No probs with noise, but we were on the 6th floor and I always take earplugs away with me anyway. It was the last Spanish holiday week-end while we were there tho, and I wouldn't go near the pool as it was mobbed and fairly rowdy
Would definitely recommend these apartments, great value for money

Me and my fiancee stayed at this resort 09-16th August 2008- all I can say is i'm quite depressed to be back in the Uk - think that says it all
the weather was amazing and the Island was a great getaway
The appt was very clean and spacious with regular changes of bedding and towels.
It had all the basics such as toaster kettle and did it's job perfectly well over the week- no complaints whatsoever
the balcony was amazing to sit on from first light to sunset
Had one meal at the hotel restraunt but to be honest it wasn't that great - real shame but the place was empty - needs the Gordon Ramsey touch !!!
the pool and facilities were top class especially the bar and special mention to the barman there - top geezer.
The pool was always busy but was big enough to handle it
Puerto Rico it's self was great - would be better if they got rid of the timeshare brigade, even the looky men are better to deal with than them....just be on guard for scratch card scammers....albeit that was at Maspolomas beach
my advice don't even give them any indication your interested just walk away or you'll soon find your held up with endless questions
Best bar to visit is the hoops bar / Dicey Reileys in Puerto Rico main centre - great entertainment and service
another word of warning - watch out for jellyfish - I was unluckily stung by one on my last day in the sea at Amadores beach.....but still not enough to take the shine off an amazing holiday
thanks to all - can't wait to return !!!

Submitted By: Mr C SmithThe hotel offers fantastic views over Amadores beach and for quite an old hotel it is clean and basic Our rooms were on the fifth floor, there is no air con so the bedroom gets quite stuffy but there is loads of space and a massive balcony, there is all the basic self catering stuff toaster, kettle etc.. again i have to mention the view from the balcony was fantastic, looking down over the Amadores beach.
My experience of the Palmara Mar was unwelcoming but that was down to the spanish families staying there and not the hotel it's self. Reception was only open from 9-1 and 4-9, there was also a shop but very basic and watch the sell by dates, there are more supermarkets in the Europa Centre up the hill or there was a spar at the bottom of the hill.
Rooms were cleaned each day except Weds and Sunday, towels and sheets got changed! Only saw 2 cockroaches one in the balcony and a huge grand daddy sized one that had decided to move in with us it really was that big infact it was that big i thought it was going to throw me out the room instead of me throwing it out...
The pool was lovely and clean, and always plenty of sunbeds but the sun beds were a bit cramped around the pool, My only moan is that there was no parasols - the only shade was under the trees, but other than that the pool area is in the sun from 10am-8pm. The pool was a overun with lots and lots of Spanish people! Pool bar was ok, food and drinks where fine and the prices generally ok but the bar closed really early it was never open any later than 5pm.
Just to warn anyone reading, We like to go for a couple of hours sleep from about 5pm-7pm before going out.. BUT .. were woken several times throughout that time for the whole holiday by the spanish kids running riot and basially not showing any consideration for other guests as i said above there are alot of spanish families that holiday in this hotel who seriously have a lack of any consideration for other guests.i found them to be quite ignorant and the hotel was extremely noisy from about 4pm to late from them in the end we just avoided the hotel and spent the time down at the beach. The hotel did not offer any entertainment, but I hadnt expected it too.
There is a restaurant at the top of the hotel but to be honest it looked a bit rubbish and was alway empty so we never ate there.
The Europa Centre is a short walk up a steep slippery hill and the crossing by the taxi rank is a bit lethal as most drivers don't stop to let you cross at the zebra crossing, up there there is loads of bars, restaurants, shops, etc. We ate in Barbacoa a couple of times but found the prices a bit expensive and feel we were ripped off! DO NOT eat in the chinese, eurgh! Drinks and food were lovely at Amadeus, Pickwicks bar is fantastic for drinks, Fryer Tucks is good for take away if you get the munchies. There is a larger centre in Puerto Rico but we didn't go there at night. we ventured down one afternoon there was touts everywhere, it drove us mad!
I will also point out there is also bars, restaurants & shops on the Amadores Beach, we found like lovely little place called the Irish Cottage a few day before our holiday ended the food was really nice so we ate breakfest and lunch from there the final few days.
Amadores beach is lovely only cost 8 euros for 2 sunbeds and a parasol, it's a short stroll down and if you don't feel fit enough to walk up the hill it's about 3 euros back up again, sea is lovely and clear. You could stay on the beach until at least 7ish if you wanted too.
With all the above said, I wouldnt choose to stay in the same hotel again but we will definetly be coming back to Puerto Rico it really is a fantastic place to go on holiday!

Submitted By: Miss C HislopPuerto Rico is a really hilly place and this apartment was in the perfect. It is half way up the hill. About -10 mins walk downhill to the beach then 5 mins uphill to the Europa Centre.
It was really handy. We'd walk down to the beach then it was a few euros to get a taxi back up. As the Europa Centre was so close you could walk it and it wasn't a problem.
Due a baby and would even take the baby there, the hill wouldn't put me off
Amadoris beach was lovely. Had really good bars along the front and good public toilet/shower facilities (about 25cents to use)

Submitted By: Mrs M&G BrownI had to ask for more pillows as they were hard and lumpy being washed over and over so many times. I was in my room for 8 days and had never had my sheets changed. I was told they get changed once a week. I went to see maid when I noticed my sheets still not changed. I was given clean sheets from a different maid for me to change them myself. Then 2 days later at 9am my maid brought in sheets but we were not up. I left them for maid to change next day. They were still there when we got back to our room so on Saturday I stripped my bed and left the sheets for the maid to make beds.
Rooms very hot and stuffy with no airconditioning or fans.
The girls next door was not getting there sheets changed either so on the 9 th day they stripped there bed and maid had changed there sheets. I asked other people if they were getting there sheets changed and if your room was below reception your sheets were changed every few days but if you stayed on right side our maid did not bother. I don't know about anyother floor.
The reception is only open from 9am-1pm and 6pm-9pm everyday and staff never smile. Check the dates on food as people next door bought bacon which was 2 months out of date and smelt bad and had already bought salami and was 1 wk out of date. The girls got there money back.
Our flight was at 23.20 and was picked up at 8pm. We were able to put our suitcases in a locked room and was able to shower down beside the pool but the water was freezing and the recetion told me there was nowhere else. I managed to get a shower from our kind neighbours who was in next room. I have never had a problem from any other hotel to get a hot shower. In the rooms the water cools down very quickly and there is not much pressure.
I bought a MP4 player from FOTO SAI in the Europa centre.
BEWARE------DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY
I was told it costs $20 for 30 songs. They told me to get a better one. I paid $30 for 1000 songs but the lying pigs sold me the one for 30 songs and got $5 for the adaptor which I probably should have had included. They are all sly dogs. You go in and enquire about something and they try to sell you more.
I overheard someone when walking down the hill that there video camera was not working. I bought a video camera from FOTO SAI 10 yrs ago and had no problem but Tony looks like he is liar. I did not think they would be so horrible. In future I will buy in uk.
The beach is 15 mins walk down hill to Amadoris beach then 20 mins from beach to beach. It is unsuitable for people with difficulty in walking as hills very steep and pavements very slippery.

Submitted By: Mrs L PrestonThe hotel had a nice pool and the beach wasn't too far. There was lots to do and the bars and restaurants weren't far, was just the steps coming home that were hard as very hilly there, but the beautiful weather made up for that.
We went in April and couldn't believe how hot it was! Overall a lovely holiday made by a lovely resort.

Submitted By: kdlomaEven though our flight was delayed and arrived at the apartments 9 hours later than we were supposed to at 8am, our key was their waiting for us and were able to go straight to our room with no problems.
First impressions were that the room was very clean and spacious. Limited kitchen appliances but not needed as we ate out all the time. There was a spacious fridge to keep beer in which is all we needed. Balcony was massive with table and chairs to take in the amazing scenery...it was breathtaking. Never had one with as good views as there are from here.
The apartments were slightly out the way for us as the main nightlife is down at the commercial centre but as many people say which is true...only 3 euros in a taxi and well worth it. We got taxis up and down all the time as too hot to walk.
Europa centre is only 5 mins walk away and if you’re after a quiet night out or a few drinks then there is plenty to do there with quite a few restaurants and bars to choose from.
Commercial centre is excellent for young and old. When we were there half of it had closed down due to electrical faults but there were still lots of bars and restaurants about.
All staff in Palmeramar and out and about are extremely friendly and the rooms were cleaned at least 5 times in the week we were here.
Cockroaches were seen a few times but to be expected really with the heat.
Overall a fantastic holiday.
