This was our honeymoon - our first holiday together in over 10 years and we wanted luxury, to be pampered, and thought we'd paid for it. Costing around £3,000, being told we were getting a "bridal suite", and couldn't wait. The day we checked in, we arrived at our room... more

Goin Back!
Went to Sirenis in April of 2002 and we had a great time. The people where friendly and the service was excellent. The room and hotel grounds were well kept and very clean. Good news is that we are going back May 25th if I can get the time off work!.
OMG ThE bEsT pLaCe EvEr!!
I had the best time ever when I went to the Sirenis Hotels! I went with my family and a lot of my cousins on March Break. Everybody is so nice there. And everyone wants you to join in on everything like the dance lessons. Antonio, Carmen, Jimmy and everybody was awesome! I miss them so much. And Francisco (the bartender in the pool) was sooo nice. When I went there, there was a Spanish singing group called Inspiration, and they were really good.I had so much fun and I want to go back so bad!!
We can;t wait to go back
I went on an all girls only trip to Punta Cana, March 7, 2003, We can't wait to go back in three months. The resort was breathtaking, beautiful beach, swim up bars, the food was excellent you had many choices to choose from. The staff of the resort were the friendliest people we have ever met. They did not speak much English and that was part of the fun, we got to learn some of their language and they got to learn English. It was sort of a learning lesson for us and them. They were very patient and they apprieciated our patience with them. The rooms and grounds were immaculant and the service outstanding. We made sure to tip the staff that gave us good service, and left little packages for the housekeepers. We were catered to the whole time we were there.
Hotel in the sky
The Hotel Sofitel is situated on the top 20 or so floors of a 50 level building. Lobby on the ground floor is in the grand style with high roofs , hidden lighting and floor to ceiling windows looking out either onto the shopping plaza (checkin) or driveway (lounge/bar). Fast lifts take your to the rooms which are set around a atrium. Ground floor of the atrium (but about level 35 I think) has another bar in the centre and a cafe on the edge of one side and a french restaurant on the other. All these share along with the rooms fantastic views over Melbourne suburbs, parks and the MCG (football ground). Rooms are generally done in dark wood overtones with olive/cream carpets and bedding. All are good size. Windows have blinds and wooden shutters but part of the attraction is to sleep in bed with the blinds up for the view. This hotel also has the best toilets with a view in town with floor to ceiling windows (who is going to see you on level 35). Rooms service is fast and prices are as expected of a 5 star hotel. Afternoon tea on sundays in the ground floor lounge is great - about AUD$29 for a buffet with coffee/ tea/ cakes, scones/ cream/ sandwiches and hot nibbles. its help your self so getting money worth is not a problem (just your weight). Small shopping centre attached (in part catering to office workers) as is a arthouse cinema and for those that can't do without, a Macdonalds across the road. Its on a tram/ trolley car route, around the corner from Parliament Underground station and about 10 minute walk from the main shopping area of the city. Location is up near Parliament House at the top of Collins Street. All in, a great treat for a weekend away.
good all round place
On arrival at the airport the heat was great, glad we got our visas though there we big queues as 2 planes arrived together. The hotel was joint with serenis cocotal, all inclusive food was fine much better that the special restaurants there. We felt a lack of English language spoken. There were ponds running through the hotel complex which brought loads of mosquitoes day and night! Rooms were fine. Beach wasn't as clean as i hoped, but ok. Babysitting was available, but not mentioned in the brochure £6.00 approx per hr. Booze for all inclusive had a good selection and all coctails were included, better than lots of hotels. Good quality food available all day and night. The entertainment staff worked hard day and evening
Fantastic, Great, Wonderful!
Me and my family and some of relatives went there on March Break 2003. We had a wonderful time. You would never get bored, Antonio would keep you entertained the whole time! You can enjoy Spanish Lessons, water arobics, Volleyball in the pool, and a variety of games throughout the day. The food was fantastic. You could pick different restaurants, like Chinese, and the Steak House. Over all I had the best time of my life, and the only problem we had was that we wanted to stay longer!
Will never go back
Visited April 13-21 with my husband and 11 year old son. The worst travel experience ever!! The location of the hotel is terrible, right on the beach but the water is full of reefs. You can't swim in peace fearing you will hit one of the reefs at any time. Kayaking was risky, people got hurt hitting the reefs! As for the hotel, beautiful BUT!! Staff very unfriendly, always in a shitty mood, asking them something is the end of the world and their knowledge of English is terrible, the hotel must invest in teaching their staff some English. Toilet seat broken from day 1, never repaired, just put back on the bowl. Leaking roof. 2ice asked for wake-up calls, 1 was 15 minits late, the other never came. We missed a day tour because of it. Front desk staff not resourceful nor sympathetic. 2 buffet style restaurants, 6 A-la-carte, GREAT YOU THINK!? You have to stand in line at 8am to make reservations for that day only. You can't make a few at once. Overall, they have 2 kinds of service, EXCEPTIONAL for the spanish speaking, and NOTHING SPECIAL for all others. Unless a miracle happens, we will never go back to the Dominican!!
Great Place
Me and my family we spent the most wonderful 3 days vacation. We are planning to go back in a few months back. The place is good for the whole family including kids.
Pleasant overall
I spent 7 days at Sirenis Cocotal Beach Resort in Punta Cana DR with my best girlfriend. We are both living in Canada, and wanted to take a break from our jobs and just go on vacation. For the most part we enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The beach, and ocean was very lovely. Sirenis is a very clean hotel. The maid service was also very good. Sirenis is more like a 4* hotel. The grounds were pleasant enough, and very clean. We did not care for the stagnant greenish wading water that dotted the landscape. A couple of nice running water fountains would have been nice. The flamencos treading in the wading water didn't seem to mind however. I actually enjoyed the food. I love fish of all kinds and the had a variety everyday. My only complaint - some of the chicken and lamb were too under-cooked for my tastes. Not everyone enjoys rare meat, but if you were willing to wait a couple of minutes they would cook the meat on the grill to suit your tastes. I also did not care for the hamburger at the poolside. Not you typical beefburger. The main entertainment stage was comparable to even 4* star hotel. I did not care for some of the pre-show entertainment using audience members. If you sat upfront you would require a excellent sense of humor if they got you up on stage. Once the real shows got underway at 10:00pm they were very good. The disco was fun, if you like techno, and lots of meringue, with a sprinkling of rap and hip hop. Friday to Sunday was well filled up with staff and guests. The hotel staff was very amenable to showing dance steps and having a good time with the guests in the disco. Most of the staff was quite pleasant (especially if we smiled or spoke in Spanish or French). We had some trouble communicating that we wanted wash cloths or face cloths, but they understood and supplied us with some in short order (it is not regularly supplied). We do have some tips and recommendations that we think would help make you vacation more fulfilling: 1. Take a light plastic ra almost everyday on and off. The rain was mostly followed by the hot sun. When the sun was out she was out in full force. I recommend not staying out for more than an hour on your first day, work in your tan gradually, because nearly everyone ended up peeling, and there were lots of nasty looking sunburns. Apply lots of sunscreen to you forehead , nose and shoulders. Better yet wear a hat. The sun is hottest between 12 noon and 2 pm. 2. Take money to tip. One US dollar is = to 20 DR pesos. They'll do a one way US to pesos change at the Check in Desk (so don't change ALL of your money). Tip your room cleaner if they do a good job. Tip at the restaurant and bar if you like the service. Tip the bus driver if you like his driving. Tip the bar tenders if you want. Tip the guy who carries you luggage to your room if you like the service. By all means you don't have to do it all the time, but it is nice to do it sometimes. 3. Go on an excursion, just to take a break from the resort routine. We went to Saona for the day, and enjoyed it. We also went to Higuey and visited a couple of bars. Your tour rep might be amendable to taking you, wouldn't hurt to ask. If you go to another beach away from the hotel, take some practical shoes you can walk in the water with. We saw several people cut their feet or fall on rocks and hurt their shins in the water at the two above places. 4. If you speak even a little Spanish or French it will help immensely in getting what you need. 5. If you have a sensitive stomach, take some Imodium, and/or Gravol. The food is well seasoned, and if you are only used to bland food, you might find yourself just eating French fries and hamburgers (hence the Imodium). ALL the alcohol is inclusive, hence the Gravol, and maybe some Advil. 6. Take a few long sleeved tops and pants, as it may get cool after it rains, before turning crazy humid at night. Speaking of humid, take some mosquito repellant because after the rain falls the little buggers come out. 7. Take some goggles to se hotel of course, is on the Atlantic side, and has waves - it also gets deep rather quickly from shore. But the water was lovely, and the beach fabulous. 8. At certain times of day they do not allow you to saunter into the poolside restaurant in your wet bathing suit, so bring a sarong, shorts and T-Shirt. As expected at NO time can you go to the main restaurants in swimsuit gear. Dress nicely for the evening time. Try out one of the A La Carte restaurants as well - it's all inclusive. 9. If you like to work out the gym is clean and has just the right amount of equipment. It is also built so that it lets outdoor air in, making for a wonderful workout experience. There are also several tennis courts that you can book a day ahead of time. We went for a morning run on the beach 5 out of the 7 days we were there - it was blissful. Go on and enjoy yourself! Andrea
Great beach
We just came back today from Punta Cana. Great hotel and gorgeous beach. The nicest beach I ever saw. If you want to get room close to beach ask for sections S, Q or P. Whole resort was very clean. Make sure to wake up early to get reservation to special restorants. The buffet was good. Too bad it did not last longer
