Magaluf is amazing!

i stayed in Sol y Vera for ten nights in july with 5 other girls, and had an amazing time. The apartments were really big and clean The maids gave us new towels every other day and if we needed more all we needed to do was ask. We were worried that we would need a safe because some reviews said that they had things stolen from their appartments, but we locked all our stuff in suitcases and it was fine. As long as you doublelock the doors no one can break in anyway. Andreas at reception was lovely.. the pool was really nice and clean. it was so close to the beach anyway. the strip and bcm were a 5 minute walk and resturants and shops were on your doorstep! Its an amazing value for money and a really good atmosphere. I would reccomend it to anyone going to magaluf for a party, and not familys!!!

The hotel from the outside isn't very attractive to look at, but the rooms inside are of a good size, slightly old fashioned decor. It was in a good location to the beach and bars and clubs. The pool area was one of the only let downs as its not attached to the hotel, and its not a very sociable area. so we just went to the beach most days which was really nice.

This hotel is in the perfect location. It's right next to all the bars and the beach, but not right among them, so it's not too roudy and not too noisy.
The rooms are really spacious and there's plenty of drawers and wardrobe space. They have everything you need in there. Though they're decorated proper 70's style, but who cares, we were just using them to get ready and sleep in. The view from the balcony was lovely, sea view. It's only 2 Euro's a day to hire a safe.
I don't think our room was cleaned once though, so after a day the floors were covered in sand, but we were only there for 4 days so we weren't that bothered.
The lobby and pool was quite clean, though most of the sun loungers were broken and there wasn't much for round the pool, but we spent most days on the beach anyway.
There was no restaurant or bar in the hotel, but right under it is Susie's cafe that sells drinks and food.
It's probably best for young girls or lads going away to party. But I think unless you fall into that catagory Magalluf isn't the place for you anyway. I just don't understand why other people would want to go there when it's obviously somewhere to go just to party. Go somewhere else in Majorca.
Magalluf itself is a lot of fun, even during the day there's plenty to do, if you go anywhere in Majorca you should definatly go and see the Pirates show and if you're at Magalluf it's within walking distance.

I went with 3 friends (all 18) to Magaluf in June and as we were on a tight budget, we decided that Sol Y Vera was the only option for us. We pulled up at the side of the road in our coach and i was stunned when the driver announced that we were at Sol Y Vera. I was like, "Where is it?!" But after you realise that the hotel is actually above the Spa Shop the horror of what you think you've let yourself in for really kicks in! After dragging our suitcase around the back of the shops and up the endless stairs to the reception (we found out on the last day that there was a ramp near the front haha!) and struggling to understand the receptionist we finally entered the dreaded lift to get to our rooms. The lift has got to be the worst part of the hotel. It takes aprox 10 minutes to get to you, 5 minutes for the doors to close when you get in there, and then 10 minutes to get to where you want to go. Its ridiculous!! We were in histerics for the first 2 days, taking photos of us alseep in there etc, but after a few days, the humor of it wears off. And before you say "climb the stairs" you must understand that the building is like the empire state building and we were gasping for breath when we tried it. But anyway, after the 25 minute saga with the lift, we finally got into our apartment. Please don't be too put off by the other reviews because to be honest, they really wasnt that bad. If you're expecting luxury, don't even bother considering Sol Y Vera, but if like us you just want somewhere half decent to rest ur head at night then the rooms will be fine for you. It was a little disheartening to be facing a hotel that was clearly alot nicer and cleaner than ours but oh well. The rooms lack air con, and we relied on a small fan which was as much use as a chocolate teapot! Honestly, it was too hot so come prepared with hand fans or something because you'll need it. The cleaners were useless and we had to almost fight the receptionist for clean towels, so bring some extra jus incase. The pool was dirty and freezing, but lets face it, if you've been sunbathing all day and sweating your head off, it wouldnt matter if there were wild crocadiles in there, you'd still get in. The hotel is full with youths and they're loud, but if you're as drunk as we were everynight you will hardly notice. This hotel is for clubbers on a budget and certainly not suitable for families AT ALL! Location was flawless for pubs and clubs & no taxis were needed. x

The sol y vera apartments are great...
8 / 10
Jul 2008, Mr J Holiday

The sol y vera apartments are great value and provide you with a cheap room to lay your head during your stay in magaluf. You get one bedroom with two beds, a small kitchen, a dinning area with a sofa that folds to be two beds and a balcony. The only flaw i could find with these apartments was that air conditioning would have been a nice, but you can live with out it.
Sol y vera apartments then are pretty good, however magaluf is let down by a few things:
It is not a family resort! it is aimed primarly at young groups going out to drink and party.
It is full of blokes easily a 85:15 split! so if your a bloke its hard to pull and if your a girl be prepared to get harassed reguarly.
On the plus side BCM is an amazing club, free drinks after 30 euro entrance.

We wanted cheap and cheerful for...

Jun 2008, Miss J Jackson

We wanted cheap and cheerful for Karens hen party .. 25 of us in total. It was clean and basic but the fab thing is its close to everything. BCM is a must! Pool is great for chilling out and we had such a laugh.
Beach is close by as well as all the bars. We also found the best place that serves brekkies til 5pm. Opposite McDonalds, next to the chemist (also handy to know!) called the Cottage. Meals at night , as we did not surface til after 5pm most days, are fantastic and the ladies there are real mother hens... advising us to ber careful etc... Sunday roasts just like mums! Wish someone else was getting married soon for ano hen party!

Four of us girlies went to the Sol Y...

Jan 2008, Miss Kate Birch

Four of us girlies went to the Sol Y Vera last July and it was ace!! Full of young lads and girls, groups and singles! The rooms are very basic and contain 2 beds and 1 sofa bed with another bed underneath so we only had 1 room between 4! which very spacious. The shower was ok, there was hot water which is good! ha!
We heard rumours the maids robbed a few people but this didn't happen to us! hahaha the security man dunno wat he was called is funny...but you don't know when he's being serious or not! He used to encourage us to bring lads back so no complaints and didn't have to pay for any guests!
The only downfall is no air con which is a nightmare getting ready! You can get fans but they don't do fak all really!!! The pool is a bit small with no shade when it gets too hot! The cafe downstairs is minging ahah so don't go there!
There's a McDonalds down the road! Go to Bennies at the end of the road for a rub on tattoo on your bum!!! Sol y Vera is no joke... a stones throw away from BCM, 2 secs! Go on pirates such a laugh and you get free sangria to get leevred on! hahaha had a good time but I don't fink I would go there again as I've seen better ones xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Me and 8 mates have just returned...

Oct 2007, Mr T Gill

Me and 8 mates have just returned from a funny weekend in the Sol y Vera. We went there to celebrate my stag party.
The rooms are quite basic but really good. The pool area was clean so we spent most of our time in their having a laugh! Also the beach is only 5 min walk. The staff are very friendly.
Would recommend it for parties and we will definitely be booking to go again next year as the nightlife is really good!!!

The accommodation was very basic....
6 / 10
Oct 2007, Mr D Mayall

The accommodation was very basic. Cleaners only changed your towels every 3 days. No cleaning, no beds made/changed, no floors cleaned or swept etc. Just change of towels and bin emptied.
The bath was painted white to cover existing damage. My father fell backwards in the bath, knocked out cold, slamming the tap on (father terminally ill - not drunk), the bath almost overflowed as plughole blocked with peeled paint coming off bath - my father could have drowned if I hadn’t found him in time!
Noisy I completely agree, lovely hotel across the way - put us lot to shame really! Cleaners were out all the time, polishing their windows and cleaning the rooms daily!
Disabled ramp far too steep, almost needed stairlift installing - not recommended for wheelchair users or carers thinking of staying at this hotel.
In a nutshell, it's suitable for Freestyle/18-30's party goers rather than anyone else. Don't let the name 'Sol' fool you - because it’s NOT the Sol chain hotel linked in any way to this basic box standard holiday quarters.

The hotel staff were really friendly...

Oct 2007, Miss J Macaulay

The hotel staff were really friendly especially downstairs in the bar.
The rooms were very basic but clean. A lot of people said they had stuff stolen but we never had any problems. Just ensure valuables are in the safe.
The rooms were cleaned regularly. Had a fantastic view of Magaluf from the balcony.
I would consider staying here again.
