Tivoli Lisboa Hotel

We arrived at the Tivoli Lisboa by taxi and had the door opened for us by a white- gloved gentleman dressed in Tuxedo. The hotel itself is lovely with a very large lobby with many sitting options. There is also a station with two free computers complete with printer. After checking in, the elevator whisked us up to our room on the fourth floor. A good hotel in a good location. Right next to a metro and bus stop (which is also a bus stop for the 91 Aerobus to and from the airport AND the sightseeing bus). 5 minutes walk to the main shopping area. Reasonably priced cafe just 2 minutes down the road for snack lunches and a more expensive restaurant a little further. Hotel food is good but hugely overpriced -4 Euros for a pastry you could get for 50 cents down the road! Excellent buffet breakfasts. This may be the best city hotel I ever stayed at. For the price it really was incredible. We had a nice view form the good sized room. The rooftop terrace was absolutely awesome, great bar. The pool was an oasis-felt like you were at a resort--a great place to relax after a hot day of sightseeing. The breakfast was great, the staff nice. It's on the Champs Elysee of Lisboa but lots of restaurants were ten or fifteen minutes away by foot.

Just returned from a 4 night stay at the Tivoli Lisboa. I travelled with my partner and daughter. Really impressed with hotel. Great breakfast (bucks fizz nice touch!), great pool and great room. For the price paid I think we got a good deal for a 5 star hotel. The pool has to be one of the nicest areas of the hotel - like a calm oasis in centre of Lisbon. One down side of our trip is that we had to watch England losing the footie with lots of Portugese people - but hey you can't have everything (and beyond hotel's control)!!

Overall, I enjoyed my experience at the Tivoli. Generally speakinge european hotels are more expensive, have smaller rooms, less amenities and poorer customer service than American hotels. However, I believe this hotel was high in value for the price. Overall, the staff was friendly; the bathrooms were large, modern and had plenty of towels; and the rooms (standard double), though small, were clean. We very much enjoyed our four day stay at the Tivoli Lisboa. The staff were very helpful, rooms and public areas were very clean and comfortable. The buffet breakfasts were well presented, fresh and had an abundance of choices for every taste. The location is perfect for exploring in any direction! Only a ten minute walk from the main square or there is a bus stops outside the hotel travelling in both directions. Myself and my husband stayed here on a 4 night city break in February. The Tivoli is in a great location only a 5-10 minute walk to downtown, alternatively there is a metro stop nearby or numerous buses stop outside (incl the airport bus). There are some good local restaurants and a really nice cafe/bar a few doors down. Our room was huge and spotlessly clean and little touches like robes and slippers, umbrellas, an in room safe and the turn down service (with chocolates) made our stay even more enjoyable. Comparable to a good Hilton / Hyatt hotel with all the amenities. Breakfast buffet was excellent for all tastes. Room was spacious (~400 sq ft, huge by Euro standards) and the pool was a nice respite from the hot Lisbon summer. Location is the great and walking distance (5-10mins) from sights. TIvoli is a safe bet at a reasonable price. You will not be disappointed here.

I stayed at Hotel Tivoli for three nights in March 2006 with one of my good girlfriends. We were two females traveling alone and felt totally safe with the location of this hotel which is excellent. We only ate in the restaurant for the breakfast buffet which is free, but we found this to be adequate. However, we missed one morning b/c we didn't realize that it was included in the prize. This is a decent hotel - not pehaps as luxurious as one would hope, but also very good with all the basics and in a great location. To some, this hotel would need a few more fancy facilities and a bigger (and more accessible) pool. It does need a bit more rennovation and a better colour scheme would probably help the sense of a slightly faded, 1960s modernity. The room was likewise good without being stunning - again, it feels like it needs a good renovation. Definitely ask for room with a view down the hill and over the old city centre.... more
