We stayed in this hell hole for 2 weeks, never again.
We knew the rooms where basic but this was a joke, small and pokey, the kitchen area was terrible, we had 2 forks and 1 knife and the cooker didnt work!
When you had a shower the water went everywhere, bathroom floor and kitchen got a clean!!
The staff where nice when we first arrived, but when we didnt go to there BBQ night or eat in there resturant they stopped speaking to us and became very rude!
Our room was right next door to where the family live, so you could hear them talking loudly all night and had to look at there washing hanging out to dry from our balcony. The son even told me off for leaving the outside light on to long, even though we where sitting out there!!
The area is nice, lots of resturants and bars, which is good as we didnt want to stay in the resort to long!!
Never ever ever ever ever again!

I am aware that if you get a cheap holiday you cannot expect the Ritz but Room 3 had no facilities in the kitchen that were usable. A rusty fridge, a cooker/grill where the door would not shut. utensils that I could not use!
The pool was very nice, but watch out for the local kids who make a game of annoying the visitors.
The snack bar was nice and the snacks ok but if you dont frequent it often Makis is not happy.
The cleaning is done but its only a quick lick, I like to keep my apartment clean anyway and had to buy bleach and cif, as well as toilet rolls, they only give you the first one when you arrive.

There was no rep on the coach so you had to guess where you got off.The makis appartments were a good way away from the drop off point. No sign of any help.At the apartments still no sign of help.We were given the infamous No 2 dont even consider it.Grugingly given another appartment, this as with all of them the oven ect was rusty, not that it was meant to be used re makis own cafe. The swimming pool is very good and is well kept.
The resort needs a decent beach as it is not very clean or very stony.
The rep told us that they dont do departues so it was everyone for themselves at the airport on our way home.I will not be returning.

The resort, Roda was nice, quiet and relaxing. Until we got back to the Makis Apartments in the afternoon and the night when it was taken over by the local children who were running around or shouting very lound until the early hours of the morning. Close by is a very nice bar which say they get numerous complaints about the cleanliness and condition of the apartments. When we got there we had to clean the utensils as they were all stained before we could use them and the worktop had a big hole in it. There were at least 2 other couples, one from Sunderland and one from Birmingham who were not happy with how things were. As a couple we would go back to Corfu.... BUT NOT the Makis Apartments!!!

Just come back from 2 weeks at Makis' studios. What a superb holiday! The most relaxing holiday we've ever been on.
Makis and Maria made us feel so welcome and at home. By day two, we we're having a good laugh with them. Nearly everyone we met had stayed there year after year, and some had been going there even before his pool was built in 2001!
The rooms are basic but above standard for usual Greek accomodation. The beds were comfy, clean and nearly new, there is plenty of wardrobe space and the kitchen area was spotlessly clean. The bathroom is smaller than you will probably expect but clean and well drained and ventilated with a big lit up mirror. Only thing missing is a shower curtain to stop the toilet seat getting wet. A minor point!!
The pool is possibly the cleanest we have ever swam in. Unlike other hotels that switch off their filters at night, Makis' run 24 hours a day and he checks the chemical levels every time he cleans the pool. Neither of us had that horrible chlorine burn at the back of the throat after a dive. The pool is big enough for double the amount of guests and the depth changes gradually for children or non-swimmers.
The bar, cafe and pool toilets are also spotlessly clean. The food is around the same price as other cafe's in the area but to a much better standard. If something isn't as you asked for, (remember Maki's english is good, but not infallible) they will happily fix it. The evening meals are also top quality. T-bone steaks, swordfish, kebabs, moussaka, stifado, kleftiko.... the list goes on. There is plenty of choice for the nights when you can't be bothered to eat out.
A few people have commented that Makis seems grumpy with guests. This man has a heart of gold. He is up at 0800 every day and stays up until the last person goes to sleep, usually 0300 or 0400, grabbing a two hour nap in the afternoon. I don't know about anyone else, but I'd be a little quiet sometimes living on that little sleep. He soon wakes up when his guests come down to his bar for a drink and is the life and soul of the place. I asked him last week "When DO you sleep?" He said "November!" What a guy.
I can wholeheartedly recommend not only the appartments and studios, but the family that run it. We're already hooked and will be booking for 2009 as soon as we can. We met a lot of lovely people there and made some great friends too, who we also hope to see next year.
You will NOT be dissapointed with this place.

stayed at makis in 2003 and 2006 never again makis was not very friendly to us.he did not like it because we did not use his snack bar .it was very noisey at night.we had problems with kettles and he said we had broken them when in fact they were broken when given to us.we were ignored for the whole 2 weeks we were lucky to get a good morning from makis or his wife.on the good side the cleaner was very very nice.kind polite and hard working.

We found Makis apartments great. It was close enough to the town to access the beach and all the restaurants, but far enough away not to be too noisy.
Maki was very friendly and our room was cleaned daily. Bed linen and towels were changed regularly. There were loads of great places to eat - Maggie's, The Roda Park the Mexican restaurant and Maria's were particular favourites. Crusoe's was great fun for its quiz nights and the breakfasts are superb. Alex and Sara were just magic.
It's probably not an ideal resort for singles looking for a wild night life, but is great for couples and families.

We drew the short straw and stayed in Apartment 2. Therefore we were unable to use our front balcony as it looks straight out on to the seating area for Makis' cafe. We also had to put up with the noise.
There were a couple of days during our stay when the apartment was not cleaned and the same dead insects were on the shower room window sill at the end of the week, as were there at the start of the week. The towels were not changed all week and some of the bed linen was stained.
There was no plug on the kitchen sink and the range of equipment was extremely limited. We had to do our washing up in a large cooker pan!
The good points were that Makis himself was friendly, the pool gorgeous and Makis' Greek salads were fantastic.
We would thoroughly recommend Smileys as the place to eat in Roda.
As for Libra, when the information on the board says that the collection at the end of the holiday is "over the bridge and to the right", what is actually meant is over the bridge, turn left, and walk about 100yards. This really ought to be clarified as we nearly missed our pick up.

Makis apartment are basic but clean - no privacy on any balcony as these are shared with another 2 rooms. Rooms cleaned daily but we only had two hand towels the first week and these where not changed despite several conversations with the cleaner who is English. We then asked the owner Makis, who’s English is very limited again, with no success. 2nd week we received one hand towel and bath towel and again these were not changed throughout our holiday despite several conversations with the cleaner, we had to purchase beach towels for our room.
We agree with the previous comment, Makis is only happy when you are purchasing from the bar and at times could totally ignore quests who where not spending money on the premises.
Roda is a very quiet resort suited to the over 50's. I recommend eating at the Odysseus and the Drosia. Beach is small but clean with safe bathing.

I have been going to the Makis apartments for many years, even before they had a pool.
The apartments are very clean and well maintained. Makis and his family are very friendly and make you very welcome. Makis apartments are close to the bars and there is a very good restaurant next to them called Opus.
I would highly recommend the Makis apts. My whole family have been to the Makis and cannot praise it highly enough.
You should also take a visit to Smiley’s Bar and the New Port (captains) restaurant, where you will receive a friendly welcome from Kostas and Adonis and Vangelis.
You will find all the shop owners and locals very friendly and Roda is a great place to take the family or if your holidaying alone. You will feel very safe.

Makis studios are a great base to stay in Roda. Very central and just a few metres from the beach.
Accommodation is basic but clean enough just as you would expect from Greece. The pool is spotless and the best thing about the complex. We did notice that Maki is not as friendly, if you aren’t using his bar as much as he thinks you should be!
Try to get out and about in Roda and sample as much authentic Greek hospitality as you can, none of this fish and chips malarky! Also weather in September still brilliant and the resort not too busy.

My daughter and I booked a last minute holiday here without really knowing anything about it. We had a lovely time, Makis and his team were very welcoming and helpul and the apartments are in a fantastic location, couldnt be better, a very short walk to all the bars and restaurants without hearing the noise at night. The pool was lovely and clean and not too busy. Have already booked the same place for next year.
