" Worst holiday in 30 years "
Submitted By: MKW1)Hygiene-non existent-rooms dirty on arrival, spent 1st day cleaning with bleach and
disinfectant. Towels not changed for 14 days, toilet rolls not replaced for 14 days, had to buy our own. Caught cleaner brushing bed with floor brush - only came into room once in 14 days. Fridge unsafe - electric socket wires exposed.
2)Pool area - not suitable for children. Child aged six in our party cut foot badly 1st
day on a broken tile in children section of pool, had to get doctor, badly cut foot.
3) Thomas Cook representative - not in attendance all 14 days - no-one there at any of times advertised on notice board. Telephoned resort office on several occasions to obtain information especially about departure arrangements and reporting accidents and concerns.
Having travelled extensively over 30 thirty years this is the worst standard of accomodation we have ever stayed in - not even close to a 3 star rating in any classification.
Advice: Loud and dirty
Activities: Pavlos restaurant
" Really enjoyed it here! "
Submitted By: skh23The room was fine. There wasn't much storage space, and for three girls that wasn't that great, but we managed. There wasn't much to use if you wanted to cook, (we ended up boiling pasta in a frying pan!) but it was fine. we only ate in once, and the food by the pool is really good, and of course there are restaurants up and down the strip. The shower had a rubbish drainage, but again, we managed.
I would recommend taking your own loo roll. and possibly your own towels. The cleaner doesn't come in that often but as long as you keep tidy its fine. We didn't really spend that much time in our rooms to be honest. It was perfect actually for the price and for sleeping and stuff like that. Just careful that you keep your doors locked when you leave. And i would recommend air con and a safety deposit box.
The barman Julio is a legend! he makes the best cocktails and happy hour is really good and its cheap stuff. If you get a good rep i would suggest that you go on the booze cruise, and listen to what they say about the clubs.
This hotel really isn't the place for families. it was filled with young people when we went and there was one family and i think they felt quite out of place. but its really good fun. But girls, take a torch or find a nice guy to walk you back along the beach because that can be scary, especially if your drunk and don't really know what's a tree and what's a person.
I would recommend this place, its out of the strip so you can go to sleep if you want to, and if you're sensible, nothing will get stolen or taken. But we had such a good holiday here.
Advice: Really good clubs and music, definately one for the young and lively
Activities: Edelwiess Bar, 42nd Street, Buzz (but don't buy drink, they're a bit dodgey), TKD's for food
Good for: Beach
" DO NOT STAY AT KOLOURIS "
Submitted By: aussie-nicole-89" top holiday "
Submitted By: kay-cMyself and my boyfriend went for 14 nights at kouloris beach which has got to be the best holiday ive had so far. I must admit when we first arrived it was like 3am so very dark and quite scary going down dark dirt tracks at that time in a mini bus. The rooms are basic yeah but who goes on holiday to spend time in your rooms? hmmm. The people that own the place are so friendly we had a great laugh with them and still talk to them on msn messenger to this day. They played music around the pool (all the lastest tunes), games, watched films your name it it was ace. You are also basically on the beach, how much better can you get! the beach was clean and tidy with watersports on the door step and a stones throw into the main town which was amazing! So lively and something for everyone although i wouldnt say it was for families more 18-30s. Everything was clean and changed daily, the only downfall was cold showers but with sunburn wasnt too bad hehe.
Recommended place :-)
Advice: Great nightlife!!!
Activities: Cant remember what it was called but it was a mexican place on the corner of the high street yummy
Good for: Beach

The night life was BRILLIANT!

Submitted By: Miss A.S SeymourThe restaurants were really good and the food was brilliant. I've read the reviews but I think people are comparing the standard of living over here to in Greece. There is bound to be a difference! The only thing I would warn people about is the horse riding that is organised near by with a scottish woman, don't go I think she may be a bit dodgy and the ride wasn't very enjoyable either!
I would definitely recommend this hotel just remember not to expect anything as high standard as in England!!

Submitted By: Mr A SawyersFirst off the transfer bus took us directly from the airport to the hotel – yes, you have to go down a short dirt track to get to the hotel for about 2mins - no big deal.
On arrival I thought it was a bit odd that they took and stored all of our passports for the duration of our stay - the rooms were basic but adequate, we bought the air conditioning for 50 euros which you do need as it does get very hot. Our room was fitted with an electric hob, kettle, fridge etc. The electrics in the room don’t stay on 24/7, you need to have the key fob in the holder for the electric to work therefore if you have anything in the fridge/freezer it is going to melt when you’re not in.
The pool area is great, good music, very chilled and relaxed and the excellent (white sandy) beach is a stones throw away. The bar is open 24 hours you can get a drink or some pizza 24 hours also for when you get back from a night out.
Drinks are slightly expensive - but there is a good range of bottles beers/cider that you would be familiar with from home
The only way to Bar Street is via the beach (5min walk) and it does get dark at night as there is no lighting. We were getting in around 4/5am at which time it was getting light(ish) so that wasn’t a problem for us.
The mosquitoes in Kavos are horrendous - I don’t normally get bitten but I was covered from head to toe in bites so make sure to take repellant.
The actual resort of Kavos itself is ideal for young and lively - not for families at all (there was a family staying at the Koulouris Beach while we were there and it didn’t look like they were having fun).
There are a decent amount of bars along the strip most of which spill out onto the street - all with different types of music. There are a few clubs some of have nights where a DJ plays (Dave Pearce was on when we were there) these clubs also back out onto the beach and on night times and there are BBQs and beach fires every night.
After being to Malia twice in previous years I would say this hotel/resort is definitely on par and in some aspects better - would definitely recommend this place for Summer 2008 but not for families!

Submitted By: Miss H Foley And L EarleyThe coach driver taking us from the airport thought he was from '2 fast 2 furious' and got lost about 5 times before dropping us off in the middle of nowhere leaving 5 girls to walk down a dark track to the apartments. When we finally reached Koulouris Beach we had our passports taken away from us by the bar man Nikos and when we were shown into our apartment we were met with a broken wardrobe and a foul smell from the toilet which only subsided after four vigorous flushes!
The apartments are extremely basic and, as the maid had left the window open during the day, ours was full of mosquitoes and other creepy crawlies. The sheets were decorated with cigarette burns and were not changed during the whole week we stayed there. The place just looked run down and uncared for.
As others have said in their reviews, air conditioning is a must as it not only keeps you cool at night, it also keeps bugs out. It's definitely worth the 40 euros!
The pool area was fairly clean with a good number of sunbeds. Breakfasts and other food are cheaper and better in town although for late night drinks and chats with Nikos, the pool bar is the place to be!
The main town is a five minute walk across the beach. Don't attempt the road, it's far too far. The best thing about Koulouris Beach is it's location.
Kavos as a town is better for groups and definitely unsuitable for families. PRs are absolutely everywhere tempting you with drinks but just be firm and keep walking. Our favourite place was 'Rolling Stone' by far. A cool indie nightclub opens at 1:30 in the back and in the front, pop music gets everyone dancing!
To eat for lunch, we had fantastic chicken kebabs from a snack shop on the corner near the 'Barn' and for our evening meals we liked both 'Nikolas Taverna' and 'Aristos' opposite. Also if you get chance, try the greek night at 'The Great Britain'. We blagged loads of free drinks!
A great day out is 'Aqualand'. We booked a trip through a local travel agent and had a great day for a reasonable price (well it would have been better without the hangovers!).
Overall, Koulouris is great if you're on a budget but if you can we'd recommend trying somewhere different.
" This holiday was a total disgrace.... "
Submitted By: Miss K JonesThe toilets were covered on the outside with poo, and when ask if the cleaner could come to clean it Mary looked got a bit of tissue paper and wiped it away!
Our room was cleaned once throughout the stay and with one of our friends having had a nasty accident on her foot, the room needed cleaning as much as possible. The towels on arrival smelt and we ended up using our beach towels for the whole week!
The walk along the beach back to the hotel after a night out is awful. People sitting in bushes and weird men. You will really get annoyed with the sand!
As for the hotel., bed and breakfast is a waste of time. If you’re not up by 9am no breakfast will be served, bare in mind it’s only toast. Having a pleasant drink sat on the balcony before going out a rat ran across the wall above our heads.
The "security" man barged into our room at 8am and threatened all the people in there.
Kavos as a whole is a dump although we had good times out after meeting some lovely people. The PR's are annoying. Trinity is rubbish but Atlantis is amazing!

Submitted By: Mr A WoolleyOverpriced drinks with a beer or soft-drink priced around 4 Euro’s and upon arrival you are expected to pay 50 Euro’s a week for air conditioning.
Sheets are cleaned once weekly. During our stay we were not even provided with towels let alone having them cleaned, although I do know some friends were provided with them at the beginning of the holiday.
The cleaner comes in everyday whatever state you may be in with no respect for privacy. Although all she seems to do is empty the bin in the toilet and leave. When first using the shower each day you will be expected to run the water for about 5mins to let the brown water wash away.
The swimming pool is a green colour, and within a few days any white swimming shorts/costumes will almost certainly be turned green as well.
The Hotel does not have an excellent location, it is a way away from the nightlife but the walk home along the beach is not to bad. The sea seems clean enough, but the beach has quite a lot of debris left upon it.
I would recommend the nightlife of Kavos but I would not recommend the Koulouris Beach.

Submitted By: Mr Stephen Fergus & Amanda HillTo cut a long arrival short we were greeted by Mary and shown to our rooms. The rooms yes were basic but after some terrible experiences in Greece over the years I was quite happy with the basics of the room. They're ok for lads although Amanda wasn’t too impressed!
Aircon was a god send and well worth 50 Euros although don’t leave it switched on or it'll get confiscated lol! The security guard stories are true.
The water was only hot twice a day. At 9 in morn, which If you up late partying is a lil early. And at 7 at night for about half an hour. No clean linen etc either so try keep your room tidy and take your own towels.
Ladies don’t walk the beach path alone as its very dark, has strange local men wandering it late at night, and also dogs that scare the crap out of ya!
As I mentioned earlier I found the hotel acceptable for myself. Only want somewhere to sleep n wash.
The pool was great fun with a great selection of music. Ideal to chill out around and have a laugh.
Food prices were good too although drinks were extortionate. 3.75 For a glass of Fanta! Mary and Thomas were very friendly once you got talking to them too.
I enjoyed my stay here and loved the nightlife and was fortunate to have a reasonable room for so late in the season.
If the lads from Blyth read this then hope you had as much fun as I did (and that your ribs are better!) And also big hello to Rhianne and Joanne!
I'd definitely do Kavos again! Amanda says it’s ok to lol!
