Visited Corfu for the first time this month after recommendations from family.
Stayed at the Margarita Apartments in Ipsos after finding them through a cheap break on teletext.
Beautiful place nestled in the hills above Ipsos, lovely pool, always plenty of sunbeds, very friendly and hardworking staff for whom nothing is too much trouble.
Location is a little more remote but we found it perfect as we were after a relaxing destressing holiday which we definitely got. Beautiful views across the mountains from the bar area. Cannot emphasis enough how beautiful location is.
Corfu is a small island and everything is pretty easy to explore, we would recommend hiring a car so you can go off on your own adventures.
Boyfriend and I have already booked to return next June, only thing I would do different is book apartment directly with the family, you get more choice and better value than going through an operator.

The view from the balkony was nice, but that's about it.
Dirty crockery and mould in the bathroom. The room didn't get properly cleaned once, they didnt change our towels until the 6th day of our 1week stay. (The towels were small face ones btw!)
If you ever decide to stay there, towels are not the only thing you need to bring.
There are no way of washing the dishes unless you by your own liquid and brush.(Probably the reason for why we found dirty cuttlery with dried food on!)
YOU EVEN HAVE TO BY YOUR OWN TOILET PAPER.
And here I thought the word CATERING had to do with food.
If the light bulbs go out, do we have to by them as well?
I've stayed in self catering places before and my experience is that everything is as per normal of a hotel, but you have to cook your own food -hence the word "self catering".
If you just want somewhere to sleep, you can stay at the Margarita apartments. But don't expect the bed linens to be changed. Or clean.
Location:
quiet, green and lush. Beautiful views. Long way to beach! (Ipsos beach is more like a shore, next to very busy road.) If you are going to corfu for the beaches go to paleokastritsa or the cute Ilapades. west coast.

My boyfriend and I just wanted a quiet week away in October, we knew it would be quiet as it was end of season but there was nothing really open at all! But we didn't mind as the hotel was great, the people who own it are great they really made us feel welcome. We would have dinner there, the food was lovely especially the pancakes! The owners were so nice they even put West Ham on and watched it with us!! Overall it was a great holiday, cant wait to go back in the summer.

Arrived at the apartment Monday morning and was greeted my the owner's. The apartment was very clean and the pool was lovely to sit around.
The food was great but started to run out of things as it was the last week before they closed down.
Chris and Dora were a lovely couple and helped us if needed.
The evenings we spent at the bar but the big screen was only on for 1 day, the rest of the week we had a little TV but was only on sky news. The other TV was watched by their son and his friends who ran the bar at night so we had no sound on are TV ,only Greek.

Overall a lovely place. Next time we will go earlier on in the season.

Me and my boyfriend both 24 at the time stayed here for 2 weeks and it was fantastic!
We met lots of nice people there and the family that run it are lovely and friendly.
The night life in Ipsos was good - not too wild but not too quiet either. We spent most of our time in the hotel bar and around the pool as there was no need to move because the food and the company was so good!!
Of an evening they have the latest blockbuster film on in a separate room to the bar.
There is also a big screen in the bar that shows sport music channels, English progs etc. Katie who worked behind the bar was lovely and couldn’t do enough to help us.
Overall a great holiday and I would definitely recommend it to families couples and also single people!!
