Friendly staff and lovely weather
I stayed at the Jason Hotel with my boyfriend in June/July last year on a bed and breakfast basis for 11 days. On checking into reception, the receptionist did not tell us anything about what time breakfast was or how to get air conditioning in the room, she was not friendly or helpful. Another girl who was on reception, who we found out was the owner, Jason's sister, was lovely, very helpful and gave us a lift on a few occasions down the steep hill into Ipsos. Our room was basic but we were happy with it, we had a balcony with lovely views. The room was cleaned and fresh sheets and towels were provided practically every other day. The hotel bar was fantastic and we had many enjoyable nights there meeting loads of lovely people. The bar man, Florian was extremely friendly and helpful and recommended many places and trips to go on in Ipsos. The pool attendant, Festim was very, very friendly- such a lovely man, he gave us lifts down the steep hill quite often too and came on many a nights out with us which was a laugh. He even gave us a lift to the airport on our last day! We also met Jason, the owner on quite a few occasions, he was a friendly man and even joined us for a few drinks in the hotel bar and on a night out in Ipsos where he gave me a lift down the hill in his Audi TT! Cannot fault the staff, they were fantastic, very nice people and very helpful! The only downside to the holiday was the mosquitoes- there were so many and it has put me off going back to Greece. Make sure you are equipped with lots of good repellant as we got bitten so many times we couldn't sleep at night. Also, ask about the air conditioning in your room, we only found out on the last day that you could pay for it- apparently it is on automatically in August but all other times you have to pay for it yourself- not sure how much it is though. The hill up to the hotel is a killer, especially during the day in the heat. There are steps at the back of the hotel but they are just as bad! We hired a quad bike after the first few days and that was brilliant and reasonably priced- would definitely recommend that as we explored practically the whole island and there are lots of lovely hideaway beaches worth visiting. The breakfasts are very basic and not really worth getting up for to be honest. There are lots of lovely restaurants in Ipsos and well worth trying them all if you can. Hotel Jason is a very friendly hotel and we didn't want to leave on our last day there! Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
great location
Corfu, Ipsos, Hotel Jason: "Great location" Date: Oct. 12, 2008 Reviewer: liesenluc, Bruges, a TripAdvisor Member Stayed 1 week in Hotel Jason in May 2007. The hotel is situated in a very quiet and green environment, high on a hill with nice views over the mountains and sea. The walk uphill is a bit of an effort, but that is good for your condition. The rooms are basic, but clean and we had a terrace with lovely views. Breakfast is basic too and every morning the same. In the environment of the hotel are some simple but good resto's were you can enjoy the kitchen of Greece. Ask at the reception the way to these resto's. They are at walking distance, about 10 minutes walking. Take a light with you for returning in the darkness. The best is to hire a car to explore the beautiful island. And with a car, you do not have to do the walk uphill. If you do not hire a car, you can take the local bus to Corfu-town and even to the palace of Sissi. The busstop is downhill, at the sea. A tip, take the bus to Sissi's palace, and after the visit you can walk back downhill to Corfu-town and take there the bus back to Ipsos. It is a very nice walk, about 7 km. After walking in a green environment, you arrive at the sea and following the sea you arrive at the dam and the little islands. You cross the dam and you walk into town and find a busstop there to take the bus to Ipsos. When you are looking for a quiet and small hotel, away from the crowds and when you don't need luxuary, then is hotel Jason a good choice.
"Just a Basic Hotel"
The Jason is pretty average for a 2/3* hotel but is impressive to look at. Hotel staff not very helpful except Florjan the pool bar manager who was brilliant and saved our holiday. Breakfast is well worth a miss as it is awful and not worth getting up for and certainly has a poor hygeine standard. Look out for the wasps as well!! The "Hill" made our evenings a real nightmare as there are no dining facilities in the hotel which meant we had to eat out in Ipsos every night, but we found a diamond restaurant in the 'Odessy' where we eat most nights. Breakfast at 'Tiffanys' was also well worth a go. All in all a dissapointing holiday. "Where was the Rep?" Elizabeth, Surrey.
Management response from jameCorfu 19 Oct 2008

It Is unfortunate when guests arrive at a hotel with negative attitude. As I can remember these guests who have written this report started their holiday with a terrible attitude. They were given the best room in the hotel with views of the sea and asked to be moved. They criticized the hotel in front of guests who loved it.I am certain that they realized the hotel did not serve food and that it's location is on a steep hill when they booked it. What did they expect? If they calculate the price they payed for their holiday they probably paid less than a breakfast would cost. It is just the way some people react. 99% of clients love the hotel and the location. It is unfortunate when a bad start and a negative attitude can make a wonderful holiday full of unnecessary problems. As far as the wasps go, what go be done. in Corfu wasps start swarming in August due to the grapevines becoming ripe. There is very little that we can do about this part of nature. It is basically beyond our control. And as far as my staff is concerned, I am very proud of them as they are well trained and always helpful to guest. So my conclusion is maybe these guests should book a 5 star hotel on their next holiday or realize that they got allot more than what they paid for..

Bit of a Climb
the hill up to the JHason can be a killer but its worth it its a nice friendly place to stay which was made better by the staff (Florjan) in the bar and the other guests all were friendly and socialised round the bar one of the only drawback with the Jason is the lack of a drcent food munu there is only a pool bar food munu Pitza burger and toasties pretty basic. Can i just say dont play Florjan at chess for money as he is a shark(dont tell him i told you)there are some dood bars in ipsos Dirty Nellies The Hideaway all in all a good place to go to chill and recharge your batteries(my only moan is)freedom flight going bump
Good value for money
Me and my husband stayed at the Jason hotel for 1 week from the 8th September. The hotel is very attractive, very clean and in a good location ( apart from cardiac hill) steep walk up to the hotel, it gets easier as the week goes on honest. The rooms were very clean, linen changed every other day. The breakfast is drastic, cold boiled eggs, warm milk for cerial, dry bread to toast and this vile looking white creamy thing that people were eating by the bowlfull. We bought a box of cornflakes and kept the milk in our room fridge. As for Ipsos itself, its probably the worst place weve ever visited, nothing going on at all. We hired a car for 4 days and travelled all over the Island. Paleokastritsa is nice, if you go there go to Nerieds for a meal its fab. I had a query one day and asked reception to help, she wasnt really interested and a little abrupt but thats our only complaint really. The pool was nice, cleaned every day. All in all well worth the money.
Brill apart form hill
Just come back from a week from this hotel ,Very much enjoyed it the only bad part was the hill .(ok down worse on return) Clean hotel but a basic breakfast , Lovely views from all sides Met some lovely people from lemington Spa & Jarrow Would use the hotel again
Lovely Hotel in a wonderful setting (The hill's not that bad at all ! )
Recently returned from Jason Hotel after a 2 week stay. What a fabulous location and must say the hill isn’t bad at all. The hotel is set behind the main strip and it takes about 10-12 minutes to walk down, probably 15 minutes to get back. It’s up a meandering lane which gently slopes, apart from the last 200-300 yards which is fairly steep. Our room had fabulous views of both the hillside and the sea, we could watch the cruise ships sailing from Corfu town and see the mountains of Albania. The hotel was very clean and the staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was simple: meat, cheese hardboiled eggs, toast and jam, peaches greek yoghurt and honey, Madeira cake and cornflakes. The pool area was immaculately clean and very peaceful,. loungers and umbrellas were free and the pool bar was available for snacks and drinks. If we were returning to Ipsos, we would certainly go back to this hotel.
Great Hotel!!
We Stayed at Jason Hotel for 1 week in July and we loved it!! The views were amazing, the pool was lovely and the staff we're very helpful. The rooms were basic, but thats all you need. The hill to the hotel was steep yes, but the view you are greeted with at the top makes it all worthwhile! It also means its away from the noisy streets of Ipsos, yet close enough to go in and enjoy. The breakfast was very basic, and not really worth waking up for. But the pool bar opens at 12 and they sold toasties and pizza's etc. The bar is open all day and serves the best cocktails!! We are booking again for next year, can't wait!!
Jason Hotel - Nice but steepish hill to access it
We stayed at the hotel Jason in Ipsos for 11 nights in a family room which consisted of 2 twin roos, bathroom nd balcony. The rooms were funished in the usual Greek Pine furniture, the bathroom however was above average for a Greek hotel bathroom, it was a modern suite with a corner bath with a mixer shower and a fully toilet paper flushing loo! The room was clean and comfortable and serviced daily by the maid except on Sundays. The breakfast was very basic: bread, jams, cold boiled eggs, cereal, yoghurt, peaches, luncheon meat and cheese but it was fine for us and saved us some Euros. The hotel is locted about a twenty minute walk from the main bar/restaurant which doesn't sound too bad but the walk is uphill towards the hotel and the road is poorly lit on an evening. I felt quite nervous walking up their with my husbnd and would defintely not have ben comfortable had i just been wih another girl. The hotel is accessed by about 40 steps or a steep hill so not for anyone with heart problems. We got a taxi a couple of times when we couldn't be bothered which was just 5 Euros. We found Ipsos to be a nice resort, although it was quiet as it was end of season so may be different earlier in the year. Not much to see, just one strip of bars and restaurants but wejust wanted arelaxing holiday so weren't bothered. The beach is a pebble beach which we didn't know if we'd like, but the sea was lovely and clear and we found it quite nice not being covered in sand for a change. Best restaurants were: Odyssey and Moby Dick. Homers boat trips run a trip to Kassiopi everyday including BBQ and caves/beach stops for 15 euro which we really enjoyed and found to be excellent value. I'd definitely go back to Crfu again it was a lovely island, but I think I'd try Sidari next as I've heard some good things about that resort too.
Amazing staff, great location with a picturesque view what more can you ask for?
Spent 2 weeks there in the summer of 2003 and returned in for another 2 weeks at this hotel. The staff are amazing there, there's a bar right by the pool with a HUGE selection of alcohol. Relaxing atmosphere and right below it is a street filled with nightclubs and the beach across the street, I would say its the closest as I've been to paradise and I've been around!
