Hotel Description:
The Zodiac Studios are a clean, traditionally furnished property set back from a main road, just enough to be able to relax when you want to, but only a 10 minute walk from all the nightlife. A supermarket is just 20 metres away neighbouring swimming pools all have free access and are just a few minutes walk away. The Zodiac staff are very friendly and will assist you with your every holiday need fifty metres from swimming pools, 400 metres from the centre of Malia and just a short walk to the long sandy beaches of Malia. loading...

Hotels not great, good cocktails though. Wasn’t the cleanest hotel either.
The bins (kitchen & bathroom) were only changed about 3 times in 2 weeks.
Food wasn’t upto much and wasn’t as cheap as food on the main strip.
The hotel is not only 5 mins from the beach, its about 10/30 in the blazing June sunshine.
I advise you to get a quad from Hermes motors, they're ideal and dont need alot of petrol... get full insurance though.
Don’t use the hotel phone, it is not only $1 a min. That’s what they will tell you.
And as for the weekly bbq! Not very nice, not worth $10 and they make it almost immpossible for you to say no!! Although I did say no... And noticed a change in the hotel staff's attitude towards us.
Malia though as a place is amazing!!
The beach roads amazing and packed with pubs clubs & restaurants.
Newcastle bars the best with 4 spirits & mixers for $5. Most places are the same but... Newcastle bar rules!
And the bar next door to it plays some great tunes and the drinks are great.

Club UK... for banging tunes!
Camelot... for great dj nights and the foam parties! (The foam parties are so dangerous though! aha)
Apollo... great night.
Zigzag... for a great R&B night! Pr’s for here give you some great deals.
The road house bar's pr's give you some amazing drink promo's.
Remember! Go to bikini beach and go on the Jet Ski’s & the flying fish, it’s a good laugh.

Zodiac studios is an amazing place to stay, like all places in Greece it is basic but that’s all you need.
Unlike most of the big hotels this is a small friendly family run hotel where they will do anything to help you. Nothing is too much trouble. The rooms were clean and the bathroom was adequate. We had no problems at all and all members of staff were happy to help us with our problems.
We stayed for 2weeks and had the time of our lives. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion and this is mine! Thanks Zodiac.

This holiday was great, not only because of the people we went away with, but the zodiac studios and the staff made the stay even better. Situated in such a great place a short stroll back from the main night life and with 3 free swimming pools around it that you can use it was in a great location.
For being only just a 2star rating, I thought and so did the rest of the party think the accommodation was great and it was all we needed.
All these bad reviews people post on here don't give the zodiac the credit they deserve. The staff are youthful and fun and we even had Yanni up on the pool table singing and dancing one night. If you treat the zodiac with the respect that you would treat your own home then they will make your stay a great time.

I simply cannot believe that there are so many negative reviews around about Zodiac. I have just returned from two weeks staying there and I can honestly say the rooms were the cleanest I have ever seen in Greece, the staff were excellent and would do anything they could to help you (including giving out loads of free shots!) the location is perfect, the BBQ is really nice and good value.
We had no problems with fines, using the balcony at night or any of the things that others have mentioned in their reviews.
All I can say is treat people with respect and you will be respected, behave like a pack of animals and you won’t!

The Zodiac is a really nice place. Very welcoming and friendly. It was very quiet in the Zodiac apartments during our stay, but it was early season. The rooms are basic but very clean and comfortable. It was cleaned every other day. You only had one toilet roll, and had to supply any more that you needed. The only bad thing was the air conditioning. It never actually cooled the room down much. And if you’re paying 45euro for air con and safe, you expect it to work.
The beach is a ten minute walk away and really nice. Also, being that short walk away, meant that it was fairly quiet night times.
I would definitely consider staying in the ZODIAC again, if the air conditioning worked better. Over all, very nice. xxx

Zodiac Studios was the perfect place to get away from it all and have a great time! The staff was amazing and really friendly.
They were always willing to go out of their way to make sure you were happy! The rooms were very clean and had a/c which was perfect! You are a mere 5 minute walk from pools, the market and every little type of store you could imagine!
At Zodiac you felt like family and their Greek potatoes that are served at their Sunday night bbq are to die for! I would with out a doubt return!

Zodiac Studios is an excellent place to stay in Malia.
The staff were extremely friendly to us, and made us feel welcome as soon as we stepped in the reception. They made the ground rules clear to us from the start, and we felt it was absolutely fair. These people who moan and groan about local laws should get a life. We respect other countries laws. Guests in rooms could be a practical joke, but if you leave yr door unlocked then it's going to happen. Do these people leave their front doors open at home?
Anyways, the hotel was exceptional. Basic, but everything I needed for an enjoyable holiday. 5 minutes from the bars, 2 minutes from local shop, and 2 minutes from decent swimming pools.

Zodiac Studios in my 3 years of repping are excellent quality for self catering accom in Malia. Cleaned every few days very modern rooms and air conditioning. The staff are great and friendly and helpful. The BBQ provides good food for 10 euros and I eat there a few times during the season to know.
Drinks are fairly priced for a hotel bar, people think prices are a rip off as the expect to pay 10p for a pint or they go down the strip and find the 2 for 1 or other buy 1 get 94 free deals where u get next to no alcohol in your drink.
Or surprisingly enough they buy it from supermarket cheap and think its expensive in the bar.(isn’t this true anywhere can o lager in Tesco 69p same can of beer in a pub in UK £2.50 etc etc)
Air con is also cheap and non compulsory and serves to cool you down. Fort the people that moaned on the price don’t bloody get it then its an optional service but you try sleeping in a hot country without it. Also the only places you get air con free is large 5* hotels etc. This is self catering remember! It also costs a lot to run the air conditioning and this is why there is a charge. Also to the person who thought "they" turned off the air con when she opened a door I think you will find its on a sensor and when the doors are opened like that it goes off so the air stays in the room rather than cooling a balcony.
Good location near to the strip, close to a main road but set back I used to have my accom near to Zodiac and never heard the road traffic. Also again for the women who complained about half built buildings this is Crete and the Greeks start building and sometimes don’t finish and leave it they don’t build during the summer and leave this to the winter and is it Zodiacs fault that a neighbour builds a house next to them and doesn’t finish it????
The place doesn’t have a pool but has quite a few nearby.
For the people that give the place bad reviews have a look at yourself and think that maybe its you that’s causing the problems.
Overall all the staff are brilliant and friendly a big HI!! to Marco, Mikey, Carissa, Kat, Yiannis and ze pets (Oh yes cant believe that women complained about a dog that barks - I’ve heard that Mikey is currently train it to speak English so if you visit again it will greet you in a Olde English)

This was the first time we have ever been abroad and we had a WONDERFUL time.
ZODIAC STUDIOS was so WELCOMING and COMFORTABLE that we honestly had troubles leaving. The staff are great, and they do an excellent job running the apartments. Not much was open in Malia so we spent some of our evenings at Galaxy Bar and of coarse the hotel bar.
We have already booked our holiday at the Zodiac for 2006. I cant wait! SEE YOU SOON MALIA!

The standard of cleanliness was appalling at Zodiac Studio Apartments. Rooms were only cleaned twice in the two weeks we were there. When entering the studios there is a notice at reception stating that a charge will be levied if the walls or towels are dirty upon departure. The rep raved on about how clean the studios were in comparison to others in the area all I can say is I cannot imagine any worse than this place.
When we entered our studio the walls were filthy (I have the photos to prove it) we actually cleaned them for fear we would be blamed for getting them dirty.
The air conditioning was simply recycling the air in the room rather than drawing in fresh air and cooling it, this is known to be a very unhealthy method of cooling down a room (gave me a very nasty sore throat and chest problems for about two weeks afterwards, I spent most of the holiday in bed sick) a fact which the rep only admitted after we complained about it.
The room was on one side over looking to the side a main road with traffic noise going on well into the night. Straight ahead of us was the site the street cleaners left their rubbish carts after their days work and all around us were half constructed buildings. The decor in the room was outdated, bland and dull.
All in all it was the worst holiday I have ever experienced. Both the rep and the studios were appalling.

Malia is a bit slow at this time of year. Thank God we were at Zodiac Studios which really made us enjoy our holiday. There was always something to do, even when you couldn’t suntan because it was cloudy. From movies, to games, to an amazing Sunday night bbq.

The staff are very friendly and helped out with anything we needed. It felt like our second home. I would recommend Zodiac Studios to anyone wanting to have a good holiday in a safe and comfortable environment. See you next year! <br>

Staff proceeded to rip me off wherever possible be especially careful if trying to exchange travellers cheques, also staff I agree are cheerful and helpful until you actually ask them something relevant to your holiday, they then seem to lose interest.

Fantastic place to stay, really close to beach road, but also far enough away, fantastic bar area the staff all genuinely very very friendly people. Room was more like a mini apartment. You did have pay extra for aircon but didn’t need it so I don’t know what it would be like if it was 35+. Would love to go back again, there’s plenty to do off beach road as well, old Malia beautiful as are the mountains make the effort to have a look.

Our 2 weeks at Zodiac Studios was excellent. We haven’t felt this welcome while abroad ever. The staff are very friendly, the food was great, and the rooms were very clean. Their BBQ is a must and was the best meal we had for the whole 2 weeks. Malia in general is a great place but it was the accommodation that made our holiday great. We had troubles going home. Many Thanks to Yani, Carissa, Mike, Marco and Cat. We will see you next year.
