From the moment we arrived we were welcomed with more than open arms and truly enjoyed ourselves. We all loved the grub at the barbeque so we had to come back for seconds on our second week. It’s been a great holiday and happy days has been a big part of that. The rooms are small but clean, with A/C, telephone and nice balcony overlooking the 2 pools. We will definitely love to come back to Malia and happy days so the five of us would like to say a big thank you. Many thanks

All 10 of us agree this was the best holiday ever!!! 12 days in Malia in Happy Days 10 girls you can imagine what went on... The staff are really nice, mum's food was amazing, Little Chris's cocktails were out of this world and Demitri (the security man) is a kitten. Our room had a big balcony, my friends didn't but we were using ours. We didn't have any problems with the manager we didn't get told off once and on the occassions we heard complains from other guests were when they were causing problems and they were being loud at 4 in the morning. It's common sence to show respect to get respect. We are booking next month Happy Days again for seconds!!!!!!!!

To begin with, if you are planning a holiday to Malia with a group of mates, DO NOT book this hotel.
Upon arrival, the six of us were impressed with the apartments, they were clean and tidy enough for what you pay, a good size pool and what appeared to be friendly staff. However, we were quickly proven wrong.
After one of our party was injured on the first night out down the Malia strip, we returned before midnight for some first-aid and were threatened by the barman/owner (Chris) to shut up or pack our bags and "**** off". We thought this disgraceful behaviour considering all we wanted was a bit of help and at this point was not at all intoxicated or being loud or disruptive.
As the week went on, we found the staff became more and more rude over trivial matters. For example, our passports were confiscated from the first day. On requesting them back, the owner was very suspicious over why we wanted our own passports back. He questioned us continuously which we found strange and intimidating. We were even threatened with a $600 charge in return for them. This resulted in a phone call we made to the British Embassy as we wanted to know our rights! They then confirmed it was illegal for the hotel owners to keep our passports against our will.
We soon learned from other guests (all five of them...) that they held your passports in ransom for any slight damages to the room. This varied from a $10 charge for make up on your pillow, to $500 charges for lost cutlery, smashed glasses and damages to furniture.
We are a sensible, mature group of 23 year olds who know how to have a laugh and a good time without taking things too far. Each night when getting ready to go out, we were met with demands at 10pm to "shut up" and accusations that we were too loud. Considering the strip isnt lively until around midnight, we felt we had to leave our apartments early every night just to get away from the owners. We found drinking in the hotel next door (Sarpidon) a much more pleasant experience, especially after staying there last year and can definitely recommmend it with NO complaints!!
After a night out and returning to the hotel, you are met by a security guard who questioned you over and over about who you were, where you are staying, where you had been, and if you are bringing anyone back to the apartment. Lasers are shone at you and you are followed until you are in your room, which is disgusting behaviour espescially when there are girls in your group of friends.
By mid-week we were calling it Angry Days, and spent most of our time away from the staff. In general the surroundings were fine and we were lucky enough to enjoy the pool to ourselves as the hotel was empty. But the experience of having to deal with the staff and their constant unreasonable rules was far from fine.
Do not book this hotel unless you like being in bed before 11pm, spending all of your money in the overpriced hotel bar, and being treated like prisoners. We not once felt like guests.
It's the cheapest hotel on most search engines for a reason.
Alpharooms.com is currently reviewing our complaint (which we made half way through the holiday).

The hotel is based just outside from the centre of Malia, about a 10 minute walk from the main shops and bars. This suited us fine as it was quieter at night than in the centre.
The facilities are basic but that accounts for the price. It is not really possible to cook anything as not really got the space or equipment however not many people do on holiday do they? The bathroom is not great and no floor mats supplied so it can get slippy after a shower. It is however clean and looks respectable. Towels are only changed once a week which can be a bit of a problem if they are used a lot.
The family that run the hotel are very friendly and make you feel welcome. The drinks and food on site is varied but not very cheap in comparison to other places in Malia.
The pool and bar facilities are nice and it is a pleasant place to stay.
It was very quiet when we went but due to being near the end of the season, it was to be expected. All in all, if you want cheap, clean and good accomodation, this is value for money!

We've just got back from a week at Happy Days and we all absolutley loved it. The hotel is fantastic, the moment we arrived we felt welcome by all the staff .. there was 6 of us and we're all 20. The rooms were spacious enough for us, plenty of room for three girls to al get ready. Little chris at the bar makes the nicest cocktails in Malia.. nice and strong! The food is beautiful aswell.. Club sandwich is the way forward. None of us could fault this hotel or any of its staff. Its a 10minute walk from the strip so no need for taxis which was a bonus. The Saturday BBQ night is well worth going to.. nice food and the drinkin games were hilarious. The hotels perfect for people wanting a lively holiday even though its nice and relaxing during they day. I'll be booking up here again next year!

Staying at Happy Days was the best choice us 8 girls had ever made! When arriving we was greeted and they made us feel right at home from the moment we stepped onto the grounds!
Food and drink was amazing! Couldn't fault them on anything. Room sizes are decent and was very clean and easily livable conditions.
I would do anything to go back to Happy days! And if we return back to Malia Happy days is where we shall be saying! YOU WILL LOVE IT!

Happy days is a great place for a lads holiday the staff are friendly and the facilities are decent, me and my four mates just went and we never had a problem apart from the bathroom wasnt really up to scratch, there is a night guard called Dimitri who can be a abit of a pain if your drunk but he has a hard job and does take quite abit of abuse :/ your not allowed to bring outsiders back to your room and if you get caught its a 30 euro fine for everyone who stays in your room, this hotel does make alot of money on damages, we had to pay like 20 euros per towel we damaged and it wasnt our fault we needeed to put them down in the bathroom to soak up all the water from the shower, we ended up paying about 40euros damages in the end which is quite rediculous considering thats one towel and one sheet, some guys who we made friends with had to pay 500 euros for thier damages which included a window and a couple of chairs, So i advise if you go DO NOT BREAK ANYTHING! they also keep hold of your passports so you have to pay your fines before they hand them back over, other than that malia was th best week of my life :)

Malia is amazing. Happy Days? Meh, it's good but not as great as some people say. Well Dina is extremely moody and only wants your money despite saying 'it's like a family'. I got on karaoke and she insulted me and said she was shocked I was still there and that I 'have too much energy'... Dimitris the 'security guard' came into our room videoing us calling us 'big sexies of Malia' and wouldn't get out. I had a camp bed instead of a bed. They didn't clean our sheets or bin bags. Random girl having weird perverted photo shoot by the pool made me uncomfortable, we were swimming along when all of a sudden we noticed a 60 year old man taking perverted photos of his 16 year old 'thing'. I felt ill. Drinking games don't exist unless you're male or they like you - Dina is in charge and she's quite fond of the males getting drunk apparently. Atmosphere there though is brilliant! The customers were excellent and it was really fun other than the staff. Just ignore the staff. Pretend they're not there. We figured there was no pleasing them so we did that and had a brilliant time. I'd recommend it to anyone who wanted to have fun and didn't want to spend much time in the hotel at all. But seriously girls beware of Dimitris and everybody be aware of Dina's money grabbing obsession. Accomodation I'd score a 4 out of 10 because as I say it was dirty and I had a camp bed not a bed and they over booked so we had to squeeze into one room, but to be fair I've seen other rooms there and they were ok I guess they just hated us from day one. At night time it's buzzing when Dina's gone because the hotel join forces to run riot and there's not much Dimitris can do other than make perverted disturbing comments whilst random teenagers wander in gattered. You cannot bring people back to your room if they're not at the hotel btw. It's honestly not possible. They play music until god knows when so you have music to pre-drink to - which I'd recommend as it's stupidly expensive there - but if you get in at 7am, you're woken at 9am if you're room is near the pool area by the music starting off again.
- Advice: Pre-drink from the shop, don't talk to Dina, don't trust Dimitris, enjoy yourself and just pretend the staff don't exist.

Arriving the 28th June 2011, we were checked in quickly and made instantly welcome by the Owners and bar staff. throughout the week we attended the weekly BBQ and found the pools and bar area a great place to relax and chill out at before hitting the strip, being about a 10 min walk away. During out stay we had no complaints at all, and found that if you treat the staff well they will do the same for you. 10/10 and can't wait to go back next year! ooh ahh Malliaa!

We booked our holiday to Malia in February and by the time we were going in May we were very apprehensive as to the type of hotel and resort we were going to. This was due to lack of research on our part beforehand and reading negative reviews after the event. We also looked on Youtube. We were pleasantly surprised to find that we had made the right choice and were well looked after by all the staff at Happy Days. We are in our forties and our perception waa that the resort would be full of teenagers. Our fears were unfounded and we had one of the best holidays ever! I highly recommend Happy Days as a clean, welcoming hotel where you feel you can relax and the food was good too.
