A good base from which to visit Venice. Local bus not far away and frequent (ask at reception for details)or take the hotel shuttle (dearer and not as frequent) Modern clean rooms but some parts beginning to look a little shabby. Go out of reception, turn right and about 50 yards on there is a great pub, BeFed, which serves good, cheap lager, brewed on site, and great chicken and chips. We stayed in the Laguna for 4 days, during August 2006. The hotel is situated in the quiet seaside town of Mestre 10 minutes by car to Venice. It is modern, with spacious rooms, true 4 star services and very good value for money. The hotel consists of 2 buildings facing each other connected by a huge transparent roof made of glass. From Spanish hotel chain NH, this hotel is modern and located in Mestre (mainland), a mere 15 minute trip to Venice. For those who want to avoid Venice's never-ending crowds this is your hotel. Frequent bus service to the main bus stop in the island, or take a taxi for Euro$10. This hotel has a marina and offers 3 departures to Venice for Euro$15 per person round trip. Breakfast was plenty and of good quality. Rooms are a bit small but with many ammenities included (toothbrush, shave kitt, etc). Would return on my next trip.

The hotel is so out of place - too modern looking - I could have been in Chicago or New York rather than in Italy. Staff was very helpful - particularly the Front Desk. The water taxi to Venice was very nice. The hotel was chosen for the conference facility services and that was very good. Just disappointing that the decor and design of the building was so stark. Rooms were very clean.

For a new hotel it was good , very modern, typical dark wood and frosted glass type of modern. Outside of Vencie proper about 20 minutes by bus. Had to stay here for New Years Eve since everything in Venice was sold out. Staff were rude and let you know it, they would only give "yes" or "no" answers to your questions which was very, very annoying and typical in my opinion of hotels in Venice. Would I stay here again? NO WAY.

We didn't like this hotel because of the stark and cold atmosphere. It felt like staying in a prison - no plants, no pictures. The internet kept crashing and the showers plugged up. All the amenities were very modern - quite unique, but they didn't make up for the unwelcoming atmosphere of the hotel. We were on a group tour and most of our group felt the same way.

Although this hotel is not on Venice Isalnd it has a very good courtesy bus and boat service that more than makes up for it's location. It was a great hotel for the money. It was my 10 year olds favourite hotel of our whole European vacation!

Laguna Palace was the nicest hotel we stayed in our 3 week trip to Italy, in terms of facilities and food. The room has good amenities, high tech/modern, and clean. The toiletries provided was consistently with a 4 star hotel here in the US. The breakfast is outside in a patio area near the boat slips. The room was large and very clean - stayed two nights with a Globus tout. Took the bus (4 blocks walk) into Venice in the evenings - easy enough - only two stops before you reach Venice! Make sure you catch the bus back at Piazzelle Roma before midnight when it stops - taxis are not cheap. Buy bus tickets in advance - no problems.

Superb hotel in a suburb of Venice and very close to the airport. Very high tech ambience and super marina that has a glassed in canopy!!! I have never seen anything like it. Modern rooms with lots of glass and stainless steel. Immaculate and also has a fridge which is nice for keeping snacks cold. Cheapest in room internet anywhere for about 5 Euro/24 hours..... For a nominal fee, there is a water taxi that will take you into Venice. The city bus is only 1 Euro!!!!! Found a huge supermarket only a block away and bought superb... more
