Lovely views
After reading the previous reviews, I have to agree that the views from our roof terrace were wonderful. Beware of the walk to town , seems closer than it is, especially in the heat. There is a courtesy bus from Hotel, but last bus to town is at 5 O'Clock and as a family of five we required 2 taxis, and up and down everyday can dig deep into your holiday money. The apartments were not the cleanest I have stayed in but to be honest I went out and purchased some cleaning material and after that I was happier. You really need to keep everything of the floors and surfaces or the ant's will come a crawling. Entertainment was pretty poor, we only ventured the once to listen and the price of the drink and a clown with with 2 poor poodles was enough to put us off the rest of our stay. Having read reviews about the Oasis (unfortunately after we had booked) and a problem they were having with break-ins the first priority for us on arrival was to hire a safe deposit box. I am so glad we did. We heard of 5 separate apartments that had items stolen, money, I-Pods, etc, and even a mother with 2 children awakening to someone in her bedroom. The strange thing was no sign of forced entry.. Having been to the Oasis I do not think I would venture back, but I certainly loved Tenerife and next time will stay a bit closer to town.
Poor resort.
We booked a two week holiday staying at the Oasis Golf Resort for July 2006. The resort was advertised as a Four Star Plus resort by First Choice. I would rate it as a Three Star overall but nearer One star for cleanliness. We wanted a relaxing holiday with our ten week old son. The resort looked lovely and relaxing in the brochure and First Choice Holidays recommended it as a place for families. We arrived at the resort at 23.15 and was shown our room. We discovered that out welcome pack which had cost us £15.00 was not there. So I had to go to the bar to purchase 6 small bottles of water to allow us to make bottled milk for our baby. The bar closed at mid-night so I only just managed to scrape in to buy some water. We started to unpack and when I'd put five shirts on the rail in the wardrobe the rail collapsed bringing the shirts with it. Just what you need after a long journey! We awoke at 5.45am due to my son wanting some milk. My Wife went to the kitchen to make some milk and discovered that the kitchen was covered in ants. The management were informed but didn't seem to care. The general cleanliness of the resort is below average and the response by management is to ignor any requests to see them. We asked at 06.30am and 10.00am and 12.00pm but they still did see us. First Choice eventually moved us to another resort, The Tenerife Sur, which was even poorer. Do not even consider going there!! The service by First Choice was good but we felt that our holiday was ruined by the fact the we had to move to three resorts overall. I do not recommend this resort for families with babies or self caterers due to the hygiene issues.
Sad to leave
We have just returned home from two terrific weeks at Oasis Golf. Mum, dad and two girls aged 7 & 8 all had fun and were able to chill and switch off. We had a two-bedroomed apartment which was on one level, very spacious, had two shower rooms, full sized kitchen appliances and a huge balcony which faced south so we had sun all day. We saw duplex apartments which were lovely but I would be concerned about the marble steps? We had gorgeous trees outside but some were home to tiny red ants which were harmless but did get in and around especially if any food was left out! Think Scottish midgie without the itch! Housekeeping gave us a huge tin of spray which we used daily. We found the shower cubicle to be small but not a problem. The pool areas are gorgeous and during our first week there was no problem getting a sunbed but a lot of tourists arrived at the start of our second week and getting a sunbed became a case of towels down at dawn, unfortunately. We did walk into Christianos using the 'new' roads which have no traffic yet (turn left at end of road & go uphill) and this took 10 minutes because it was all downhill after the initial bit. This was where we found Hiper Trebol which was an enormous supermarket with a gorgeous bakery dept tucked in the back! Carry on past here and you reach Christianos. The reps were telling people to head towards Las Americas (right) through the carpark of the grey & yellow building to Mercadonna- we found this longer and not such a good shop? We did eat at the hotel Bar-B-Q nights and found the food lovely if a little expensive but those nights we had no taxi fares ( about 5-6 euros each way). The courtesy bus was great and drops you exactly where it picks you up again- beside Americas Plaza in Santiago area, which has some gorgeous shops and eating places and you can easily reach the beach from here. Check with the driver at what time he will pick you up because sometimes he doesn't! Unfortunately for this gorgeous resort there have been some break-ins so keep patio doors shut or bolted partially open. The doors are operated by card entry and have a double turn bolt mecanism on the door. We found the maids to be brilliant- they constantly changed towels and did wash floors ( 15 euros at the beginning helped maybe?) We also found the reception staff very helpful who confirmed our flights and transfers no problem. The card system where everything is charged to your account worked well for us because we paid some cash in initially but when we neared the end of our holiday and wanted to keep cash to spend elsewhere we gave our visa details and this was charged when we left. The kids club ( First Choice) was great and our girls loved it. It cost us 42 euros for each child for 8 x 2hour sessions because we had not booked through First Choice. The hotel also have activities going on throughout the day. We really enjoyed our time at Oasis Golf and would recommend it and we may return soon.
all inclusive nightmare
Just arrived home from a supposed all inclusive holiday to the oasis golf. I say supposed because it took us 5 days to get an ice cream out of them for my daughter.!! The manager himself pulled me to one side and told me off for taking bottles of water to my room. In every other all inclusive holiday ive been on, water is supplied in the fridge. not here !!! After that , if i asked for water i was given a small plastic cup .It gets worse believe me. The poolside bar menu was not extensive to start with, but we were told that all inclusive people , are only allowed to eat 5 things from the menu. These 5 things being hot dogs, cheeseburgers, hamburgers, fries, pizza and spaghetti. My husband wanted a chicken baguette at 4 euros, but was told he could not have it, as it was not one of the '5'. So he ended up having to have spaghetti at 7 euros, therefore costing them more. crazy system, and most people were complaining about it. The bar staff are all rude, except for rosa, who is lovley. The other all inclusive people all said they were made to feel like lepers, when they asked for anything, and i encountered tutting each time i went to the bar.! This place has only been offering an all inclusive option for 4 weeks, so i think its trial and error with them. Its worth mentioning also that you cannott get anything at all to eat after 9'oclk, and the bar shuts dead on 11. The entertainment is practically non-existant, and of as poor quality as the food. I was only there for a week, and i saw the same fashion show 3 times. ! the actual complex, is very nice, and the room are well equipped and spacious. The pools are also lovley, so im sure if you are going there on a half board or self catering basis , it would be fine. But if you are going to this hotel on all inclusive, then take plenty of spending money with you, as all inclusive it is not !!!!-
Good hols
Just back from a great holiday staying at the Oasis golf hotel, found the hotel very clean and tidy good maids service. We had no problems, pools very nice. A bit of a walk into town, but will keep you fit whether you like it or not. If not a taxi ride in to playa de las americas is only 5 euro. The only negative would be hotel shop and drinks are expensive. The rules also state by the pool, that reserving of sun loungers is not allowed but everyone does it and by 9am they have all gone. But all in all a good hotel.
Nice Place
Left Oasis Golf Tuesday 11th July. A very nice stay, clean and comfortable apartments, and pool area. We didnt find the card system too bad, but you do have to keep track on your spends just incase of added extras. Breakfasts were quite nice, not too cheap but good variety, evening meal VERY pricey, only stayed once and wouldn't stay or pay for it again! Shop on site ok but expensive, pool side bar good selection of snacks, but dont be in a hurry for food. We had a 9 year old child with us, who was quite happy to play around the pool, and spend time with us, which is a good job as the reps for the clubs were no where to be seen. Nothing compared to what the brochure says about kids clubs. Have your 30 euros deposit ready to hire a safe, and it's around 2.50 to hire per day, Night time entertainment was quite poor, too small an area in which it took place and ended quite early, We spent most of our time using the hourly bus to take you in to town, that was very handy, although a taxi only cost around 6 euro, and the bus ran you back up at half past the hour, Reception staff very helpful and spoke English well. We took the trip to Loro Park, around 130 euro for the 3 of us, a nice place but you can feel a bit rushed to get back for the bus. Aqua Land was great! we took a taxi there for around 8 euros, you get to stay longer. On the whole we had a fab time, and would probably return again some day, as it was friendly clean and comfortable, with beautiful views.
fantastic place
Have just spent two weeks at oasis golf what a great place. accomodation spotless. friendly staff. complex has got three great pools plenty of sun beds. food was great. shop on site. ten to fifteen minutes walk into las americas or los cristianos. some places to go taxi to torviscas beach 8 euro great place shops and on water inflatables for kids(well 40 and think there great). between 4-6 euro in taxi back from las americas or los cristinos. if you holiday here you will have a great time.
Holiday from hell!!!
We arrived late at night and got given our room key, went to our room which was surprisingly close to pool, we got in the room was not very clean (may have been start of season) but still ....not good enough!! We checked the bedrooms out all 2 of them!! (there were 6 of us)!!!! two had to stay in double bed 2 in single beds in double room with babies cot in (no space to swing a cat) and the other ADULT!!...had to stay on pull out bed in living room. At night we were eaten alive by tiny ants!! and lizards!! When we woke the following day and went to have a shower (now i am not fat but aint a stick either) i couldnt even get in the shower, then when it came to showering the baby it was a complete nightmare water everywhere and i couldnt even get half in to be able to wash her. The food wasnt great but was ok if you were desperate & BE VERY CAREFUL WITH SPENDING ON SITE!!! everything is charged to your room key they will not except any cash on site just be careful of bill at end of holiday. Didnt go to evening entertainment as didnt think much of what was on offer and high prices of drinks, food etc. ALSO PLEASE, those of you taking children please be very careful there is alot of steps, the floor is terracotta tiled and gets very hot in the heat. I lost count of the amount of small children and adults i see fall down the steps in a weeks holiday. I dont think this resort is as child friendly as the brochures make out, for example the kids clubs, the wave length for older kids consisted of one game of water volleyball per day yet the brochure offers it as a free all day activity, and as for creches these are not free and are very expensive at a cost of app£10 for one, one and half hour session per day, by the time you could walk to main rd it would be time to collect. Unfortunately i was also a victim of crime whilst out there and had my card details copied and all my spending money stolen out of my account. Trying to pay my hotel bill at end of holiday (which was when money was stolen) was definately not a pleasent experience but highly embarrassing, the coach that had come to collect us drove off with my 18month old baby on board and 12yr old sister!! The hotel or first choice rep were not helpful at all instead they would not let me leave hotel, airport, or country and threatened to cancel my flight home tickets. I finally had to get a relative to phone up and pay the bill over the phone using there card details!!!!!! NOT SAFE AT ALL!! WOULD NOT BE RETURNING IN A HURRY~!!!! although view from our balcony was very nice and watching sun go down was great too!
Nice Hotel
We stayed self catering and thought the apartments were great nice decor and nice size. The 3 pools were great and best of all we never had to fight to get a sunbed even at 11.30 am. We did try the food at the hotel on a couple of nights and all i can say is i am glad we were self catering. The entertainment was OK but it finished far too early. The staff were all freindly and helpfull. Some reviews we read before we went suggested that the hotel has a problem with security and breakings but we did not have any problems or hear of anyone else having problems. To summarise great holiday and we will go there again.
excellent place
arrived back from this complex friday after 2weeks,we were abit worried at first as we were changed at the last minute,i must say the place was excellent and i would recomend this to anyone, apart from the 15-20min walk it was fantastic, the pools were great and it has internet games room etc will deff think of going back there next year.didnt have any problems at all with the place.
