Delfino Hotel

Myself and my girlfriend spent a few days in Venice recently, staying at the Delfino Hotel. From the description that we were given, we were under the impression that we were staying opposite the train station in Mestre, Venice. This was not the case!! The truth of the matter is, the hotel is in fact a short walk (5 minutes) from the station.
To enable us to get to the ‘numerous bars and restaurants in the heart of Venice’, we had to catch the train at Mestre for a 15 minute journey, which for the princely cost of 1Euro was a bargain!
The Hotel Delfino was what you would expect for a 3* hotel, basic, but comfortable. The reception staff could not have been more helpful, allowing us to check out 2 hours later than stated in the brochure, and then keep our bags in a safe room within the hotel whilst we went into Venice, awaiting our flight later that night.
The only gripe that we do have with the hotel, is the poor service in the hotel bar. Every time I went into the bar to try and get a coffee to take back to our room, I basically had to go into the kitchen to find a member of staff to help me (in fact on one occasion, I had to instruct the maid how to make a coffee !!).
Before I forget, if you are going as a couple, try and make sure you get a ‘double bed’ and not what we had, two single beds pushed together!!
All in all though, we did have a lovely time, and whilst we may not stay at the Delfino again, we would certainly return to Venice.
