Hotel Metaxa

A pleasant, quiet and spotlessly clean hotel. Good quality accom with modern well sound-proofed upvc doors to balcony. Our rooms were cleaned 6 days out of 7 with our beds being made up and the kids clothes folded neatly by the maids! We were given a choice of rooms for our party of 2 adults and 3 children by the helpful manager Stelios. Excellent pool. Full sun all day to the loungers situated poolside. Nice little play park for kids as well. Not too far from the beach which is sandy, gently sloping and shallow.
We stayed half-board, evening meals were fine but breakfasts were lacking in imagination and basic; cornflakes, bread and jam. A few days there were some fresh eggs presented - delicious!
Downsides were aircraft noise; very near to airport here but luckily no night flights. We also found that we couldn't sleep with fridges in room switched on as so noisy! Also this is very much a resort and totally lacking in any Greek authenticity. Still, we couldn't fault the hotel itself with prompt, polite and efficient service so a 7 out of 10!

Just got back from Hotel Metaxa, Zante. Very clean but basic.
Breakfast is so basic and unimaginative, not worth getting out of bed for. As for night life don’t expect any as the hotel closes most nights about 10.30pm.
Stelios the owner and his family are polite but the place is so dull and has no atmosphere so you can expect to go elsewhere for a good time, ideal if you don’t like to socialise.
