Sep 2008, Mr M.G Rashad

we stayed in turkey, gumbet.i have to say this is by far the best holiday that i have been on with my family.the apartments were very clean and we had the best view from the balconies as we had two aprtments.all the staff were really nice especially hasan the manager.he communicated with us on the first night and as we stayed for two weeks we got to know him more better.the pool area was very clean , the apartment hotel itself was amazing.we got what we had payed for and that was self catering.we knew there was no tv, no towels, no toilet paper,no micro wave etc as we got told from the company we went through.there was loads of entertainment in the town center the roxy, smileys, planet yucca etc the food was great especially our house the staff and waiters were very kind and they treated us with respect, this restaurant had the best quality food and it was worth every penny .the beech was 2 min walk from the apartment and so was the town center my children loved it.if you go to turkey you get what you pay for. i will definitaly be coming back next year with my family to gumbet poseidon apart hotel as i reccommend this hotel 10/10
regards shad and family

This place is amazing. The Staff are INCREDIBLE...especially the manager Hasan...what a guy!!! He made sure everything was ok for us, anything we needed we could always approach him and ask. Our apartment was beautiful with the most beautiful view I have ever seen. I would and will be staying here again. Also if you stay here you must visit Planet Yucca. This place is fantastic, staff are so friendly and you will have a fun filled night. They get you up dancing and have singing til the early hours of the morning. Also food is great. Ask for Ayhan, the best manger!

I stayed in these apartments Aug/Sep 08 i would highly advise people not to stay here they are not 3* i wouldnt even class them as 1* the apartments are filty they only change your sheets twice aweek we booked a 2 bedroom apartment tinkin it woud be on d bottom floor bcos we had a young baby 10 mnths old an a 5 year old with us but it was on the top floor we had to climb 10 flights of stairs der was 1 air conditionin unit in d bedroom which cost 50euro for 2 weeks 1 thing good about it d resturant waiters were really nice especially *(ANTO and NORMAN) and (MEMO) in d bar we stayed in 1 night out of 2 weeks nd had food here and it was disgusting it was ok for for snacks in d day but not for a meal at night wen we arrived here d manager was so ignorant after a long journey all we wanted was to a have a sleep but we had too face him roaring and shouting at us for a 50euro safety deposit for d filty apartments dat we had to buy bleach nd disenfectin ourselves to clean dem d pool was great for d kids n clean the sunbed were filty we had 2 wipe dem dwn ourselves. we new der was no towels so we had to bring 10 towels with us nd buy our own toilet paper the people dat own dis place are putting nothing into it and the staff are run of there feet it is just 1 BIG DISGRACE it shoundnt be aloud on d market for tourists.

really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. staff are great(anto is the best!), apartments are a good size and clean and air con is available for those who want it at an extra charge and def worth getting as it gets very hot during the summer months.safety deposit boxes are not in the rooms but in an office in the hotel shop which may sound a bit dodgy but they are very safe. Resturant is ok, fine for lunch but better off heading into the centre for dinner as there are some great places to eat there. There is a taxi and bus sevice outside the door and both are very cheap so very easy to get around. would def go back again

Jul 2008, Mr C Coxall

A group of 6 of us went. all male between ages of 19-25. The accomodation was basic, but clean, the swimming pool and bar area were very nice. always full and people seemed to be enjoying themseleves even if at times we may have been a little loud! there are alot of steps to aprtments, especially considering we were right at the top of them! but it kept us fit and worked off the Efes. very handy for town centre, only a 2 minute walk. but far enough away to not hear the music. i would reccomend Poseidon to anyone. being a hotel manager myself. this is basic accomodation for a beach holiday. if u want to spend 12 hours a day in you're hotel room, this is not the place for you. but if you use it to sleep in and get changed, you cant do wrong here. the staff are friendly and helpful, especially Jack on the bar. a top lad!! enjoy poseidon, will definitely return!!!!!

Jul 2008, L Mckenna

*THIS HOTEL IS UNSAFE*i have never written a holiday review before but i feel so strongly about this holiday i feel compelled to warn people. me and my sister stayed for one week and i will never go back to turkey because of this experience. the smell of the hotel is awful, the only way you can descibe it is sewerage. there is no air conditioned areas around the hotel and the week we stayed for was 40 degrees all week. you can pay extra for the air conditioning in your room but there was only one unit on the wall in the bedroom. there were no towels which we were not expecting as they sell this hotel as 4*. the resturaunt in the hotel was a glorified greasy spoon and was over priced which meant you had to go out to eat (which i love!!). the first 4 nights were ok walking across a very short distance (2 mins) to the restaurants and bars to eat and drink. they are all very competitive and lots of fun! the men in the shops arent so, they do not leave you alone and the locals are just as bad. one evening walking those 2 mins back from the restaurants and bars we were attacked by 4 turkish men. they stole our bags, money, valuables etc and then dragged us onto a bushy area and tried to sexually assult us. we managed to get away but as we ran into the hotel reception for help nothing was done, we sat in reception for over an hour asking why and no proper explanation was given. we were injured and bleeding and no doctor or police came. we later came back to reception the next day to try again to see the police which was then done (some 6/7 hours later). this ruined our holiday as this all took place right outside the hotel. it is definately not safe for females to stay in this resort. the other things about this resort you can put up with for a week but we will never forget this experience. but to end on a positive note, a few of the hotel's staff are a credit to them, without them we would not have had any one to help us.

We stayed here for two weks. The complex was very clean including the appartment.Lovely views from the bar. Swimming pool was kept very clean. On the down side there was no entertaiment at night,we found this dissapointing as we had a 6 year old with us and could not go to far at night. Otherwise it was a fantastic holiday. The people were very friendly, and the scenery was magnificiant. Do not buy nuy anything in the markets in Bodrum, it is just as cheap in the shops in Gumbet

Jun 2008, Mrs K ANAMOUSE

hi i stayed at these apartments in june o8 for 1 week they aer very basic the rooms are spaciouse but our shower had green mould and black spots in the corners the cleaners do come once a week but only with bed linen as you dont get towels here . the food in the resturant is just ok. there is no entertainment at all here and at night the place is like a grave yard .they do have a lift but this only goes 1 flight which is horrible if your on the 4th floor as there are about 30 steps up before you make tour way up the rest to your room some of the staff are ok but you will find that on your departure there attitude can change also on your departure day they make you leave your room about 2 hrs before pick up time so they can check your room our pick up time was 04.45 and we had to be out at the latest 02.30 which made our return home journey feel longer . if you do go to gumbet there isnt a lot to do with children or young teens as i did but do go up to mr. frogs and ask for aero he is lovely we booked with budget but obviously they havent checked these apartments lately as i dont think they would put there name to such bad apartments i know the sayin you get what u pay for but i have booked with budget a lot and never got this type of accomadation

Turkey is either a place that ppl will like or dislike!!
On my first visit first sight i wanted 2 go home! But d min i stepped inside d poseidon i felt at home! D staff r so nice. d food is good! D pool is spotless!!
4 those who didnt read up on the brouchure then u didnt know about the no toilet roll and no towels! its not as if they r expensive over there!! again it also states about d steps and u can c then in d pics!! what i always do is ring ahead and book d apartments i want a12 and a13 r good durin d summer months as they r close 2 d pool and not much walkin!!
D staff r just brill there, heard toni is now workin up in Bitez but alex is still workin away there!!!!
ive been 2 turkey over d past 3 summers and last summer i changed and went 2 kusadasi its good but a lot more livelier than gumbet! i missed some of my fav restaurants when i was there, like china town and turkish delight. d bars were similar but a lot bigger than what u c down bar street!! d market in bodrum is way better than d 1 in Kusadasi!!
Now this yr i shall b visiting both resorts!!
Ill say it again Turkey is a place that u will get mixed reviews from ull just have 2 go and experience it!!!!

Overall we found the Poseidon...
4 / 10
Sep 2007, Ms K Herbert

Overall we found the Poseidon Aparthotel to be basic but clean. Showers were only luke warm all the time. We had a fantastic view of the bay from a top floor apartment with a huge balcony, but this was not the norm and I think we got it because we stayed for 2 weeks. Most apartments had a small balcony, some would have no view.
The pool area was nice enough and well kept with loads of sunbeds. Music played all day though, which got a bit painful as they seem to only have the one CD... Justin Timberlake etc... The staff were pleasant in general, though we did find a couple of reception staff to be a bit intrusive and pestering. We thought the food at the apartment restaurant was poor. The little shop there was really handy and the couple who run that were extremely nice. The safety deposit facility was not in our room but down next to the shop, which we were a bit concerned about, but we had no problems there at all. We didn't leave much money/valuables in our room, and we were quite conscious about safety - we got the vibe that we needed to be.
The apartment location was good, about 5 min walk to Gumbet main street and to the beach. The beach in Gumbet was awful, looked like they had got trucks in to dump a load of course grey 'sand' down to make a thin beach strip, which was covered in sun beds, backed by restaurant/bars playing load music all day and night, and was filthy. The 'sand' was never cleaned/swept so was covered in cigarette butts and rubbish. After our first day there we never went back.
The noise level in the apartments was only ok. You can hear load music, dogs barking etc... (which you expect I suppose going to a resort like Gumbet) well into the early hours, so bring your ear-plugs if you can't handle noise.
The resort of Gumbet was ok. The hassle you get from the Turkish people is unbelievable and gets really annoying. It is enough to make us never return there. We ended up walking the long way round to get places just to avoid the hassle of the restaurant/shop owners. It's painful, and really unnecessary - they'd get so much more custom if they just left people alone and let them look at the menus etc without being harassed.
The best food we got was at Planet Yucca, and the live music there and staff there were fun. Annalivia was also reasonable for food, and China town ok (but not great!). Paddys restaurant and bar was our best find. It may not look the best from the outside, but there is a really nice owner/manager, very friendly, entertaining, no hassle, comfy seats etc. Food there is ok (best pizza in town) and worth it just for the peace and quiet you get there compared to other places. It gets all the soccer/rugby matches and we spent many evenings there.
We did a trip to Ephesus, which was brilliant, well worth going there. Also, smoking is permitted everywhere and is everywhere so if you can't handle smoke then go somewhere else.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend Gumbet unless you want the partying, drinking, clubbing, out-all-night scene. If you do it's probably the perfect spot for you. The Poseidon was ok but we won't be going back there either.

Where does one start with this...
1 / 10
Aug 2007, Mr P O Connell

Where does one start with this place?? We've paid less for our holidays and got better places to stay by far. Off the bus and the 1st thing is the smell of sewerage.
The apartments themselves are so shabby (over 100 steps to reach ours with a 6 yr old).
No TV, toaster, proper cooker, towels, dish cloths, even sink plugs(water is scarce??). Once the toilet roll is used in the apt you have to buy your own for the rest of the holiday.
The cleaning service was a joke. Our sheets were changed twice the first week and only once the second. They only give the floor a quick sweep and a lick of the mop and this with the same regularity as the sheets. We had to do it ourselves after they had just done it.
There is one air conditioning unit in the bedroom and you have to pay to turn it on. Surely if it’s already in the room you should be able to turn it on yourself!!
We were told by people of sewerage leaks, anthills and cockroaches in their rooms. Also that some people having gone to the doctor that were told not to go near the pool (filthy) and not to even use the shower in their room (bacteria).
My wife has a rash all over her due to the bacteria in the shower!
A couple of the lads at reception and one or 2 in the bar were grand lads but the rest were really ignorant. Safety deposit boxes in the shop is really suspect I think. Location was the only thing going for this place, near the beach and town.
Gumbet itself is a great place for those who want late nights etc but not really as a family place. The Bacardi beach bar is great to relax. That was down to Charlie but I think he's going to live in Manchester now! Ah Well!! And watch out for the airport and don’t get fleeced. Don’t stay at these apartments.
