What a great long weekend. Venice, if you haven't been there, it is definitely worth a visit!Take your best walking shoes and go for it and a credit card with lots to spend.
Ryanair is fine as long as you are able and do not expect any special comforts. It is a great cheap flight and I would use them again. BA have been disappointing and so I thought I might as well just get value for money!
The hotel was pretty basic too. But we had a twin/double en-suite overlooking the St Maria Formosa Square. It was clean and spacious and the lovely staff made up for any shortfall in furnishings and lifts.
But my 75 year old mother managed it all, and because there was so much to see, do and shop for, she found a re-newed vitality! And might even want to go again, I certainly would.
And remember, even though we Brits are lousy at speaking the lingo, the Italians as well as the French appreciate you having a go! So, take the Phrase book and practice a few bits on the plane and just say it!
The Service and friendliness is really worth the effort, and 'hell...why shouldn't we? It also adds to a few laughs and I think you might get a true feel of the place.
I did and we had a fabulous time...even if there are more pigeons in St Marks Square than Trafalgar.
