If you ever stay at this hotel and...

Aug 2008, Miss K Ly

If you ever stay at this hotel and they put you in room 408 - refuse to stay there! its not fit to be let out to paying customers. It was filthy, the walls were uneven and not even painted properly, the only window the room had, was on the other side of the pool/table tennis area, so you can imagine the noise and not to mention the curtain didn't even cover the entire window so someone sitting on the seat on the outside could see right into the room. No privacy at all!! The bathroom was disgusting, we had garden furniture in our room!!! We were eventually moved to another room after complaining, which was better than the room we were in (nothing could be worse) however this is in no way a 3 star hotel! I don't think the bed sheets were ever changed, our towels only got changed because we caught the cleaners and asked them to!! Was not impressed with the food it was the same thing everyday and therefore we ended up eating out, everyone we spoke to had something to complain about. Our Rep didnt even turn up, which was a common thing at this hotel (fed up of the complaints!) The reason this hotel gets a 1 out of 10 is location, it was at the end of a great strip of Bitez.

I was sorry to hear about the last...

Jul 2008, Mrs W E WILSON

I was sorry to hear about the last two people's comments. My Mum and I are just back from the Kassandra, and we found the staff to be helpful and friendly. One member of staff was 'over friendly', which did make us feel a bit uncomfortable. It was clean and in a great position for the beach. The food was fine, although very much the same, so we did eat out a few times. As others have said, we did have to ask for clean towels on a number of occasions.
Our fav place was the New Season. Great food, staff made us very welcome there, it was like our home from home!
We also enjoyed the Turkish Bath. We went on a boat trip, which was great value for money.
All in all it was a great relaxing week.

recently returned from cassandra...

Jun 2008, Mr Dc Welty

recently returned from cassandra hotel rooms very basic no fridge no tv.enjoyed the holiday until the last day had 70 pounds 25 ytl and my mobile phone worth 200 pounds stolen from my room.when i reported it to reception they called the local police and the cleaners were questioned.the reception made the cleaners out to be the victims as i knew it was them who had robbed me. i kicked up storm everytime i saw a hotel worker or a cleaner and i screamed shouted swore at them to let other people in the hotel know what had happened.if i did not have my three kids with me i would have resorted to violence as i am a taxi driver and had customers numbers on my mobile phone.the ratings on this site do not have 0 i would rate this hotel 0.next year i will go to a hotel near the cassandra so i can even things out with the cleaners if they are still there .i would not recomend this hotel if it was free.i feel very angry that this has happened to me.

The hotels staff are very friendly and always willing and on hand to help you with whatever your needs whether it be within the hotel or arranging trip out. The food was excellent. The overall hotel was very well mantained, it was clean at all times and if you had any problems with your room it was taken care of with a matter of urgency. The rooms where some what basic but you got what you paid for, you had everything you needed; bed, dressing table, large mirror in bedroom, wardrobe, small bathroom with a good shower, we where one of the rooms without a french balcony, but to be honest we did not miss having one, as with french balcoys there was minimal space. The rooms where clean everyday. The only thing i would say that was not up to standard was the lack of clean towels, but as long as you have a word with one of the hotel staff, there is nothing to worry about. The hotel is ideal for couples and familys, its in a quiet area right next to the beach and within a 2 minute walk of a large number of restaurants and only a 5 minute bus ride away from the gumbet and bodrum where all the bars and clubs are. A very well run hotel under its new management.

Nov 2007, Miss H Cumming

The hotel was basic, but that was what we paid for. It was clean and the staff were very friendly, we had a slight problem with one of the windows not locking and it was fixed straight away. It was a great place which did what it said on the tin, it was a nice friendly, clean place to sleep and have breakfast.
The location was ideal as that part of the beach was only used by other guests and wasn't too busy. Plus it was a 30 second walk to the marina where you could catch many a boat trip. We never once ate dinner in the hotel as there were plenty of reasonably priced restaurants along the strip - the furthest was 10 mins walk away.
If you plan to spend you entire holiday in the hotel, I would say go for a better one. However, should you wish to only use it as a place to sleep and explore the wonderful area - this is ideal.

On arriving at the Kassandra Beach...
6 / 10
Oct 2007, Mrs S Knight

On arriving at the Kassandra Beach Hotel the place looks great, there's a lovely swimming pool, with a bar, clean and tidy reception area with safes, and polite well spoken reception staff, and the hotel is opposite the beach.
It’s when you arrive at your rooms that the problems start. The hotel was built approx 15years ago, and they seem to have the original doors, that are splintered, patched-up, the room was small, two single beds which although clean had basically had it! There was a filthy dirty carpet on the floor, yes I did say carpet! which has not been cleaned for a long time, a wooden table and two chairs.
Between the bed was an old radio console with a light that didn’t work and off this was a small en-suite, with mould running up the shower curtain, and broken/mouldy tiles, the toilet roll holder was held on with bits of paper and the lovely new hairdryer didn’t work, and we only had warm water once during our stay.
The breakfast/evening meal which is served out by the pools was excellent, even my father who is hard to please enjoyed it.
My main complaint was the cost of the drinks from the bars, they seemed to make the prices up as they went along, and a beer was anything from 4ytl to 9ytl so be warned.
Certainly would not choose to return to this hotel, but for what we paid £6.50 per person per night we cannot complain.

This seems to be a tale of two...

Oct 2007, Mrs P Bradley

This seems to be a tale of two hotels. We found the hotel to be basic but that was what we had expected based on the price we paid. We stayed for 28 nights and had clean towels on 24! There were some people who told us that they waited 5 days for clean towels so there do seem to be some anomalies. The beds were changed 3 times a week (even the bed that we were obviously not using as we had a double and a single bed in our room) and the room was cleaned daily.
The hotel is somewhat tired and in need of updating - and it would be a good idea to get rid of the carpets as they looked grotty even after being hoovered. There are no cupboards or drawers - just a hanging wardrobe and small bedside table - so we had to store our clothes in our cases.
The staff were friendly and helpful and we found the two problems we did have were dealt with inside an hour.
Breakfast was the usual Turkish breakfast and that suited us but some guests did seem to expect more of an English breakfast. Dinner was good to very good for the first 3 weeks but did deteriorate on the last week as there were fewer guests and the hotel was winding down. Had the food been the same standard for the whole time I would not have been too impressed.
The biggest problem was the cats - and the guests who insisted on feeding them in the restaurant!
All in all, for what we paid we got good value and I would go again - but only at the same rates, I would not want to pay any more.

Although the hotel is very basic and is looking very tired, the position is fabulous.
You can walk from the pool to the beach and you are looked after for drinks and such; the staff are very friendly.
I have been many times to Turkey but if it was my first visit I would expect more from Goldtrail as they are very absent.
I would not hesitate in going back to the Kassandra as it is extremely good value for the money and we had a very enjoyable time there as did most of the people I spoke to. Have been in better hotels but then I have paid a lot more for them.
Great all round hotel

Jun 2007, Mrs J Stone

We booked via the internet and was caught out as we ended up flying to Izmir instead of Bodrum. The taxi fair two and from the airport was more than our spending money for the entire week.
Hotel staff are really nice and helpful, they made our holiday. Rooms were very very basic. Aircon didn’t work properly and the ants in the room came for free.
Beach was dirty, rubbish everywhere. This hotel needs a revamp. Find a better one elsewhere.
Breakfast was awful, hard boiled eggs cucumber, bread, cereal, uht milk, dried fruit, and salami. It’s the only hotel on that strip that serve cocktails with no ice.

Jan 2007, Miss S L Nolan

I disagree with a few people that have left their reviews. But people do have their own opinions.
Myself and a few family members went to Kassandra Apartments in Sept 2006 for two weeks. It was the best two weeks I had for ages.
The hotel is basic, they do explain to you that they dont have proper balconies, but not many hotels do in Turkey.
The hotel was very nice. It wouldn't have been a good holiday if it wasn't for the staff. They did some nice Turkish dancing for us, also taught us some moves, Well tried ha ha. They were fantastic, very helpful.
The food was very good, Turkish breakfast, eggs, honey, jam, bread, cereal etc. There is also some nice restaurants up the beach front.

The beach is very close to the hotel, the pool and the pool area are clean. Drinks and food aren't that expensive. The dolmus bus to Bodrum goes by the apartment every 10mins.
All in all I will give Kassandra apartments a 10 out of 10. Looking forward to going back in 2007.

Oct 2006, Mrs C Roberts

The rooms at this hotel are very basic and shabby, but are kept spotlessly clean. There is a very small balcony (no room for chairs on it). We were half board and really could not complain about the Turkish breakfast, the evening meal was edible but nothing special although their soups were delicious. The pool and bar area had an idyllic setting overlooking the lovely beach. Bar staff and waiters full of fun and very helpful. Each restaurant/hotel owns the beach in front of it so the Kassandra did not charge for the sun beds. The bar staff would come to the beach at regular intervals to see if you required drinks or something to eat.
Bitez bay is lovely, there is a selection of places to eat along the pedestrianised sea front, many of them had hammocks and beanbags on the beach under the palm trees. If you bought a drink at their bar you could stay all day on their bit of beach. I think prices of food and drink are a little more expensive in Bitez compared with Alanya which we visited earlier this year but the setting is gorgeous. The best restaurant was New Season with the lovely Daniel, Charlie, Mat and Orhan. Lovely food, (try the Amphora Kebab and fried ice-cream, delicious). Happy hour was between 10 and 11 pm officially but as soon as we arrived happy hour began and finished when we left.
On Sunday morning we were going to have an English breakfast there but they also put on an Open buffet. I have never seen anything like it, cereals, eggs, sausage in sauce, fried potatoes, about twelve different cheeses, cold meats, olives, jams, savoury and sweet pastries, selection of bread and rolls, orange and cherry juice, coffee and tea as much as you can eat and drink for 12,50 lira. No contest, we had the buffet and stayed there for two hours eating and drinking. We also liked Manuelas which most evenings had some sort of entertainment. Each establishment would give you a card as you walked along the seafront and try to tempt you in with special offers like a percentage off the bill, free bottle of wine and free garlic bread.
It is best to organise trips through the local agents. I can't remember the name of the agent but it is along the main strip by the Golden Spoon, he is called Usso. Very charming, and we booked a ferry trip to Kos for £7.00 each and also a market trip to Turgutreis for £2.00 each. Didn't spend much time in the market, we preferred to explore the resort which we liked a lot. Of course there was the compulsory stop at the gold centre, although as several people wanted to visit a leather shop the rep organised for some to be dropped off there and the leather shop arranged for them to travel back to the resort. We spent one evening in Bodrum. We didn't use the dolmus because of the recent problems, but the taxi prices were reasonable. Glad we chose Bitez over Bodrum.
For a relaxing week away Bitez has 10 out of 10. If I return I would not stay at the Kassandra but would probably go self catering or bed and breakfast. Manuelas apartments are good and Daniel in the New Season has villas called Villanaz which are absolutely top class and we would probably try them.
