We've just returned from a week in Marrakesh, where I took my 12yr old daughter.
The Royal Mirage hotel was lovely, with its gleaming marble floors to its shiny chandeliers, it looked & was spotless at all times. This standard was throughout including the rooms.
The food was ok we ate every evening in the hotel there's a choice of 4 restaurants Las Palmerie is your typical holiday buffet style restaurant. The food here wasn't very hot only tepid which was mentioned to our rep & was soon rectified.
NOTE: If you're half board, your meals are only allocated to Las Palmerie not the other 3 restaurants.
Marrakesh itself was okay but I certainly wouldn't recommended it as a holiday with children. There isn't the facilities inside the hotels or outside, its very much a culture experience
The souks can be very much a daunting experience, as you totally get mobbed by the locals especially the women trying to put henna on your hands, my daughter became very distressed here as they where very forceful & demanding.
French is there 1st language & English isn't very widely spoken, which doesn't help if your not fluent. Most English people I spoke to where only there for 4 days, which I feel was ample.
I went for a week and was struggling to find things to do or places to go.

Just got back from 5 nights here.
This is NOT a 5* hotel as we in the 'west' know it, however it's not too bad.
It's on the way into town from the airport, a 5 to 10 minute drive - however you'll be lucky to get a petit taxi for less than 50 dirham!
Hotel is focused on tour groups/conferences and little information is available for the independent traveller.
Rooms are large but with little frills - safe in the room, but you have to pay 25 dirham a day for a card to make it work. Empty minibar fridge (useful for your own drinks!) in the room, you pay a deposit of 1,000 dirham to get it filled.
No robes, small but adequate towels, soap/shampoo etc. provided, hairdryer. TV with some English channels.
Go out main entrance, turn right, 20 minute walk to Menara gardens (not that special).
If you turn left, follow the main road towards the fountain/mosque tower and that's more or less the main square (30 mins or so walking) - however the fumes can be bad and you need to be very careful crossing the roads.
Turn left and turn left again straight away into Avenue Mohammad VI, a few minutes up this road there are some nice restaurants within a 10 minute walk at about half the price (or less) of the hotel.
Good selection for breakfast (choice of 3 restaurants in the hotel).
Overall, it's adequate to good, but nothing special.

At the beginning we were worried after reading some of the false reviews, enough fuss, and our experience magical, we got more then we could bargain for.
On a very busy week, during a huge soccer game; Morocco VS Algeria, the whole place was packed like crazy. What happened after the game 4-0??? No incidents at all. Amazingly, every thing went back to normal, the night Managing Director was all over the property shaking hands or hugs with both Algerian and Moroccan fans. A tremendous effort to make sure everyone calm and satisfied regardless of the score.....
Outside we still could hear a loud celebration, Yo-Yo’s, whistling, horns of cars, but inside the hotel, it was peaceful and quite.
The Hotel is basically a 4 * not a 5*, Mr Hussein explained to us that the resort is going trough a spectacular transition, with the new CEO, the new patrons are spending colossal fortunes, and they are still doing a lot of improvements and refurbishing for future enjoyments. And the buck doesn’t stop right here, the staff itself is going trough a continuous training and evaluations… as he put it, Roma-City wasn’t built on one day!!
The rooms, really we didn’t mind at all, we just needed a place to crash and shower, now that we’re back home, we felt we couldn’t be more grateful to Moroccan hospitality, we can’t think of the slightest inconvenience…
We love you people, and think you for the splendid memories, which we will cherish for years to come, we definitely go back, and most certainly recommend this hotel to our families, friends, and colleagues.
To tourists who are still hesitating, Go on; witness for the true Moroccan hospitality. If you will have a concern, the leads or managers are there to assist you, no doubt about it… they have an open door’s policy….
