Good experience
from keentotravel
Reports of this hotel on this site had been a bit varied so we went with an open mind. We went for Christmas from 24 - 31 December and there were four of us including an 80 year old and a 13 year old. We had read that the nightclub could be noisy at night so, based on information we gleaned from this site, we E mailed and faxed the hotel before departing to ask for rooms in Le Palmerie block which is facing the swimming pool, and well away from the nightclub . There were no replies from the hotel. However when we arrived we were given two rooms - 354 and 356 both with balcony. Good sized rooms and the sanitary ware seemed brand new. Everything was scrupulously clean. Bed linen was regularly changed and so were the bath towels. The maids were lovely and we came back to the rooms one evening to find rose petals scattered on the bathroom floor. There are no coffee/tea making facilities in the rooms but no problem because we had taken a travel kettle and tea bags with us. A big plus for our group was that the air conditioning was very effective. The nights were very cold but we were able to come back to lovely warm bedrooms and had the heating up at 30 degrees! We found the staff efficient and friendly and the food good. The guests were predominantly French. Some of the reception staff had patchy English so it was best to try and communicate with waiters and reception staff as far as we could in French. The hotel is in its own grounds about 10 minutes by taxi from the town. The immediate area outside the hotel complex is very patchy and I would say not suitable for promenading - we always used taxis. Grand taxis always waited just outside the hotel complex. There is a hotel minibus which took guests in and out of the new town but we used taxis. The cost for a grand taxi was 50 dhs. There is a very big outdoor swimming pool which we didn't see being used because it was cold. However in the summer it would be super. Guests had access to an indoor heated pool which was part of their spa centre but the big bug bear was that the pool was only accessible between 11-3 and guests had to change outside. As it was cold outside this is quite an impractical arrangement in winter. The spa centre had a variety of treatments on offer and seemed very well staffed. My mother had her hair done there and prices were comparable to the UK. There is a Zanzibar bar for the evening with live music. It was very smoky and a bit gloomy but the music was sometimes very good. We all thought that the hotel was of 4 star standard. We were pleased with our choice of hotel and
nice hotel
from RehsI
hotel is clean and lovely with well kept gardens. The rooms are clean but not 4* standard, but still nice. The food is plentiful, though being a vegetarian bread and salad on a daily basis can get a bit boring! Though it would prove difficult to eat outside too! The only thing that is off putting is the miserable fellow guests. No negatives about the hotel, though i did think we paid too much considering we booked it last minute for what we recieved. On a diffierent note, when in marrakech, must vist Les Bain des Marrakech - and have a spa day - amazing experience, which is very well priced!
Brilliant Hotel - Great value for money!
from GTBillie
I stayed at le Tikida Garden hotel in November and had a great time. The reviews we had read were very mixed so we were a llittle sceptical before we arrived but we were pleasantly suprised. The hotel grounds are beautiful and very well tended with orange trees everywhere. The staff are very polite and we received great service. Yes - they do whip your plate away as soon as its empty but thats only because they expect you to pick up a clean one for any second-helpings! ! The food was great - brilliant choice with a different theme every night. The rooms admittedly are very basic but they look exactly like they do on the website so we weren't expecting luxury. Very good value for money - I booked the hotel through Thomson and it was very reasonable for Half Board. For a 3-night break le Tikida Garden was perfect and I would definitely return if I were to travel to Marrakech again.
Good hotel in lovely gardens
from sunworshipper22
We were very impressed with the Tikida garden. After reading some of the reviews we were a little curios about the hotel but on arrival discovered that it was very nice. The pool area was quiet and spacious (although the flies were a little annoying!), our room was large and clean (cleaned every day) and there was a good variety of food in the restaurant. The hotel staff were on the whole very friendly and most spoke English. At times is felt like there were too many staff and not enough jobs for them! Overall our stay was very pleasant and despite the fact the hotel is a fair distance from the centre of Marrakech, it was nice to have a break from all the hustle and bustle.
Could do better

Just returned from a week at the Tikida Garden. It claims to be four star but in all honesty, I would say it barely reaches 3 star status. Good points - nice pool, plenty of sun loungers, clean rooms with ample hot water and quite good food. Down sides - rooms are very basic, only 2 English language channels on TV (BBC world and CNN) and no tea/coffee making facilities. Main gripe is the attitude of the staff. Reception desk operates on the basis that information is provided reluctantly (seems to be on some sort of "need to know" basis) and from my experience was frequently inaccurate anyway. Waiters have perfected the technique of avoiding eye contact when you try to get a top up for your coffee at breakfast, but will whip away your plate the second it is empty in case you might nip back to the buffet for a second helping! Only time they showed the remotest interest in our needs was on the morning of departure when they suddenly became most solicitous, enquiring as to whether we were satisfied with the service! Cocktail bar was something of a joke. Supposed to stay open til 1.a.m. but staff practically kick you out at 11p.m. and the "cocktails" bear no relation to the descriptions on the menu. We ordered three different choices and all turned out to be identical - we queried one, supposedly containing Calvados, and were told "Sorry - no Calvados". At the fourth attempt we managed to achieve something that was a different colour but of very uncertain pedigree! OK for a cheap few days away, but don't expect any fancy trimmings.
dont miss the tikida gardens

Having read some of the reviews i thought i would give my opinion of our stay. the hotel was booked on the internet with no fuss, but of course we were wary, because we had not seen any pics ect,we need not of worried(when we finally arrived, but that had nothing to do with the hotel) the hotel is situated in beautiful gardens with lots of things to do ,tennis, archery ect which ,when we were there were free!, the rooms are of a comfortable size with heating and air con ,i have stayed in a lot worse. we ,there was four of us,found the food very acceptable ,in fact there is so much you tend to eat a bit more than normal ,no complaints there. The service was friendly ,if your nice to them ,their nice to you, even if the waiters did want to take your plate away before your finished, but nothing too bad,the beer was a tad more expensive but what hotel isn`t ,BUT the nightclub as the rest of the reviewer have said is VERY noisey(i`m not a old person 40's) and it did stay loud until 5.30ish (lucky i took earplugs) we went to the club one night and it is geared up for the locals ,not the hotel guests ,we were in room 235 and any of the rooms on that side of the hotel would be affected. The hotel is situated in a very poor part of the city and its not a nice area to walk ,but you do see the real side of marrakech ,which is not pretty. You can get taxis outside the hotel but be wary as we hired a guide to take us to the souks but did not realise we had hired him until he got in the taxi with us!!! ,as it worked out this was the best thing to do as it was cheap enough 100 dh and he took us to parts of the market which we would not of gone to on our own(two 15 stone shaven headed blokes with wives in tow)but every one we met was very friendly with out being pushy ,negotiate a price you will see a lot more with someone who knows where to go. we were only there for 3 nights and had a great time, try it!
Good Value

My partner and myself enjoyed a wonderful 10 day break at this delightful hotel. Considering that it included half board it represented very good value for money. We ate off peak i.e late breakfasts and dinners to avoid the rush and the food was of a good standard. The lunch time menu at the pool bar was somewhat limited and dissapointing - the menus are entirley in french so take a phrase book! Service was very hit and miss and the staff ranged from polite and friendly to down right rude and miserable. The pool staff and supervisor were the worst, inflicting all sorts of petty rules and regulations on guests which would be tolerated one day but not on another! One day while we played tennis we were instructed by the pool supervisor to sweep the tennis court at the end of the game! Of couse we did not and I complained at reception. I was assured that guests are not expected to sweep the courts and I was assured a manager would contact me later in the day or the following day at the very latest - no manager ever made contact. The rooms are spacious for the catagerory and the house keeping excellent. The hotel is well located on the edge of town and the city is easily reached by taxi.
Not bad, but not great
from moomin_papa
I stayed here with 2 cousins on a very short 3 night trip to Marrakech on 12 Nov. I work in the travel industry and so I cannot give any objective appraisals on value for money as our trip was subject to staff concessions, but I can offer an opinion on the general quality of the hotel. 1) Rooms The room we had was of a decent size and had an L shaped balcony. However, there seemed to be no working aircon. There was a control panel but this seemed not to have any effect, which was frustrating because the temperature was still high at this time of year and the bathroom/separate WC had no natural ventilation. This was of course a problem when the toilet was used! We did not take this up with reception. 2) Service Reception was helpful and the staff were multi-lingual. Service in the outdoor tarrace was slow and inattentive. Our bath had its drain hole blocked by the drainplug while we were out (can't say if it was the maid or not). When we noticed on our final morning at 3am, we called for assistance and were told that a "technician" would pop round shortly. He never appeared. Had to make do without a shower the final morning. 3) Hygiene & Cleanliness Birds (we decided they were sparrows for some reason) were spotted eating the food outside by the pool. Needless to say we didn't touch any of that stuff. One bird made it all the way into the main dining room one morning. It was just flying around with no attempt by the staff to get rid of it. The room was clean. 4) Food Pretty poor when compared to other breakfast buffets I've had. The omlettes were not good. We did not stick around for the evening dinner because we wanted to eat real food outside. 5) Area A taxi ride away from the main attractions in the city. This should cost about 20-30 Dh for a trip to Djemma el-Fna. The area is supposedly in the green area to the north of the city, where there is a golf course if you're so inclined.
Excellent Value for Money

We have just returned from our stay at Tidika Hotel and being the fussy couple that we are, we wasn't expecting too much for the price that we paid. BUT we were amazed at the size of the hotel, the staff were very attentive, and the grounds and the hotel is very clean. Our bedroom was room No. 119 and unfortunately you are close to the nightclub which goes on until early hours of the morning, so if you are a light sleeper and are given this room, I would personally request a room towards the back of the hotel nearer the pool. The pool is of a great size, although this was pretty chilly and one thing that I would recommend which drove us crazy is fly replient, as the flies by the pool land on you constantly and bug you. They also have a Spa in the complex, which we took advantage of and the prices and the service is excellent. For example I am 6 months pregnant and had a full body massage which costs £32 and lasted for 1 hour. They also have a gym and this is at a cost of 100 Dh which is approx £6. The food in the hotel is very good quality. Breakfast is served in the main restuarant and this is a catered for all internationals. They have a cooked buffett breakfast or cheeses and salami or fruit and yougert. Lunch is served by the pool and you have a choice of Sandwiches, buffett salad or they have a BBQ each day too, which is yum! Dinner is served in the main restaurant and again this is catered for all internationals. Meats, Salads etc. The market is a Taxi ride away, expect to pay anything between 50 and 100 Dh and be prepared to be bombarded by people, they are everywhere..... it's very busy!!! It's good to tip the staff as they show there appreciation very well, and they all survive on a bare minimum anyway. Speak to the hotel for restuarants outside of the complex, we were given some great choices and enjoyed the different dishes. Have a great holiday.
Beware of the Night Club!
from stopathome
This is potentially a lovely hotel set in the Palmerie just out side Marrakech. The rooms were comfortable, and staff helpful. The pool was large, clean and in pleasant surroundings, although you need to get up early as guests (mainly French clientelle) tend to place their towels out on loungers to reserve them. The buffet food was varied. There is a shuttle bus, but is goes to the new town and not the Medina. Taxis are easy to obtain. The main problem was the night club which seems to operate mainly for locals almost every night until 5.45 am. The music is so loud that the windows in our room were vibrating. The hotel did move us to a room further away where the noise was not was not so bad. If you do stay here make sure your room is as far away from the night club as possible!
