Parc Paradiso Hotel Reviews
" Top Notch!!! "
Submitted By: makepejsThe hotel was lovely, our room was kept very clean, was spacious (with a good sized double bed) and a nice sun terrace. We stayed half-board but still had tea and coffee facilities in the room and a mini bar (with complimentary fizz).
Both breakfast and evening meals in the hotel's restaurant were excellent. A wide variety of traditional italian fayre with something to suit every taste (plus a drinks voucher for every dinner).
Although the hotel was geared more towards families, the entertainment team ensured that all guests were made to feel welcome and involved in the activities on offer.
There was a free shuttle bus from the hotel into Peschiera, which we used every day. From the centre of Peschiera it was easy to explore Lake Garda and the surrounding area. The italian buses were both cheap and easy to use (we would recommend buying bus tickets in advance from local newsagents as it's cheaper still) and the boats on the lake were also easy to use (though more expensive).
The only slight drawback about the hotel was that two of the bars advertised were not open throughout our stay so we had to purchase drinks from the pizza restaurant (but this was no great hardship).
We would definitely recommend this hotel to couples and families alike - a difficult holiday to beat! (just don't forget the mosquito repellent!!!!)
Advice: Keep a look out for the local market, well worth a visit!
Activities: Wine tour organised by eurotours (booked through our holiday rep) and day-trip to Verona.
Good for: City Breaks
" I had a very pleasant and enjoyable... "
Submitted By: Mrs IW WARWICKall staff were very child-friendly. (I went with my husband and 3 children- aged 6, 7 and 12.) The maid service was punctual, and after a long day out visiting somewhere, we came back to very clean and tidy rooms.
One of the main qualities of this hotel were the swimming pools. There were very
many of them, large, not very crowded, and very clean.
Food was also delicious, with a wide range of options for breakfast and dinner.
The kids mini disco every night was very enjoyable for my two younger children,
they both learnt French, German, Dutch and Italian from the songs, as well as various
actions. Clubs such as aqua aerobics were very popular and frequent as well.
Nearby, there were adventure parks such as 'Gardaland' (which we did not
get time to go to unfortunately) but AquaParadise was very fun for the whole family.
There was also an extremely punctual shuttle service, train service, and ferry service.Trips we did included going by train to Verona (which I recommend- the city is
beautiful and train is much cheaper than the bus shuttle there)
The only downside I suppose was the kids clubs, which seemed to be unpopulated,
and we discovered there was only one kids club 'Mini Club' which did not
offer a great variety of activities. But we made do, and overall this whole
holiday was extremely enjoyable!
I strongly recommend it to any young families!

Submitted By: Mrs T WoodmanI booked about four weeks prior to departure, through Lastminute.com on behalf of Inghams and had a cracking half board deal where the children went free.
We took our two youngest children, aged 10 and 5. The Parc hotel is extremely family focused and provides several outdoor pools and an indoor pool/health spa/gym. There is a very friendly on site entertainment team, which provides the usual children clubs/pool entertainment and evening entertainment expected in a four star hotel. The hotel even has an outdoor theatre.
The restaurant is a buffet style with a good range of foods to meet most tastes. Plenty of salad/pasta, fish and beef/veal/pork based meals, and an array of desserts! The restaurant does get busy and it is worth going about 7 ish to avoid waiting for a table.
Our room overlooked the main courtyard where the outdoor evening entertainment was sometimes held. This was ideal for us as we could watch from our balcony when our children went to bed. However, I can appreciate, this may have been a bit noisy for some guests. Entertainment finishes at 11.00 p.m.
The hotel rooms were air-conditioned, clean, and with minibar/safe and tea and coffee making facilities. They also provide green pool towels and the rooms are serviced daily.
There is a free shuttle bus in to Peschiera, and the driver is very accomodating and will drop you at the train station, if required. At the station, you can get the free bus to Gardaland (a smaller version of Alton Towers), the Aqua Park and Movieland. You can also get a taxi here, if you miss the return shuttle bus and this costs approx 6-9 euros.
The station is on the main route from Milan to Venice and makes Pescheira a good base for exploring. We bought a family return ticket for Verona for approx 14 Euros (approx £11). Verona is stunning and well worth a visit with its amphitheatre, Romeo & Juliet's House, and designer shops. However, beware that the Verona station is a good 20 minutes walk from the main town, so its worth getting a taxi (approx 8 euros).
From Pescheria harbour, you can catch the steamer ferries to other towns on Lake Garda. Sirmione and Salo are well worth a visit. Make sure that you catch the right ferry back or you can end up on the lake for hours, if it does not go directly back to Pescheria, lovely as it is!
Overall, hotel is a great base for families with splendid views of the golf course. Probably not recommended as a romantic base for couples or for those families looking for a quiet retreat. However, this hotel is just a small part of a large complex that includes an exclusive golf hotel and self catering apartments. Found the staff to be very accommodating and their English was of a very good standard. This is also true of the locals. Met some lovely families from Swansea, Kendal and Ireland. Should have swapped e-mail addresses!
Finally, the Ingham reps, especially Silvia, were superb. They met us directly from the airport, met regularly at the hotel, were easily contactable and even escorted us to the check in desk in departures. Would definitely travel with them again. Well done and thank you.

Submitted By: Mrs G TaylorThere was a shuttle bus from the hotel that went to the centre every hour and returned back to the hotel on 10 past of the hour, the bus had no air conditioning, it was like getting into a sauna, there were no windows to open and at times was quite uncomfortable, the bus parked on the hotel car park but there was no shade where it parked, so it just got hotter as the day progressed. The temperature outside was 30 - 35 degrees.
We tried to get a drink on our last evening but unfortunately there was only 1 bar open in all of the hotel, which we were told was fully booked, and when my partner tried to get a drink from the open bar which was out of the building and in the Pizzeria, because the entertainment team were holding games of bingo, he could not get near the bar to order a drink, there were lots of children milling around and it was quite impossible. Surely there could have been a bar open in the hotel itself!
The restaurant was full of children and we were told we could use another room adjoining the main dining room but again on one occasion, it was full of children there,so it was noisy and dangerous because they were running around getting their food. It was stated that this room was for couples and people who wanted to dine quietly, unfortunately it was not to be.
The hotel is really only suitable for families with children as it's facilities mainly cater for that. The hotel is a couple of miles out of the centre so you had to rely on the shuttle bus times and these did not always match the times of the ferries so there was a lot of hanging around.
We also went on a couple of trips and one we felt was a rip off was the one to Verona, they did not pick you up from the hotel for your trips, you had a 10 minute walk to the gate where the security guard was, there was no shade to shelter from the hot sun or seats to sit on, so you had to stand, we waited for 30 minutes when the bus finally arrived 20 minutes late, it was a 40 minute coach ride to Verona and they then walked you to the square, where they then left you to fend for yourselves for 4 hours and arranged to meet us to bring us back to the coach. This trip was 30 euros each, we could have gone on the train or the bus much cheaper. The same thing happened in Venice but there were a couple of trips in the day if you wanted them - a ride on a gondola, and a ride out to the islands on a ferry and you could meet them later in the day to go for a meal, otherwise they arranged to meet 7 hours after getting you to Venice near St Mark's Square. On the return journey they actually returned us to the front of the hotel, so why couldn't they pick you up from there? If you were elderly or had problems walking, you would not be able to do it.
We would however, go to Peschiera again, but we would stay in the centre.
Be careful.

Submitted By: Mr G SmithLong story short - expect a loud PA system in the central courtyard area if the weather is nice, and no sleep til gone midnight due to said PA system. Upon asking for another room, to be told that one isn't available (even though you point out that people are checking out). Expect to be offered 2-star accommodation instead of the 4-star hotel you've paid for, and then to be asked to sign a waiver (in Italian) which would revoke all rights to any refund - partial or full, and agree not to contact the tour operator about the issue.
Not pleased at all.

Submitted By: Mrs E GilbertThe complex was chic and elegant, without being overly expensive. We ate in the on-site pizzeria (great ice-cream and pasta) and the buffet restaurant which cost around 65 Euros for all the families dinner. Food was good, although we were glad we were self-catering, because could be repetitious for a fortnight.
From the apartments the free bus ran to Peschiera (10 mins) around once per hour, and to Movieland/Aquapark 10 am out and 5pm and 7pm back. The bus stopped at the train station when requested, from there we visited Gardaland Theme Park (similar to Disneyland Paris) you can get a free bus shuttle. Also you can take a train to Verona (around 7 Euros each- you must validate your ticket in machine before boarding train, otherwise you will be fined) which is lovely. Juliettes House/balcony and arena are a must and cheap. Eat at Brek in Verona on the Square opposite Arena its great and cheap!
Peschiera has weekly market. So does Garda which can be reached by ferry from Peschiera (bit expensive) Garda very nice. Local wines great. La Plume fantastic restaurant in Peschiera, overlooking the lake. Went on coach trip to Dolomites. Unfortunately it rained all day, so view from cable car complete waste of time and money. But I am told it is beautiful when sunny. Had rain every other day, but only quick heavy showers which gave way to hot sunshine afterwards so did not affect our enjoyment.
Evening entertainment is good. Dancing in bars or at the poolside and Theatre Shows in ampitheatre (Lloyd Webber) from 10pm. Loved it, but not too full on, which suits us. Not many English Visitors, mainly Dutch, German - so don't rely on kids making lots of new friends. Can't wait to re-visit.

Submitted By: Miss E JacksonHowever this finishes at 11pm, which was a bit early for us. It also only goes every hour and there is no 7pm bus which meant we got the 8pm then came back at 11, which didn't give us much time out in the evening. All in all the staff were great and the half board buffet was fairly good, there was always a good selection.
However if you are not on a family holiday, I would recommend booking into the 'quiet' area of the restaurant as otherwise it was a bit like eating in a school canteen. We really liked the hotel, and would definitely go again.

Submitted By: Mr B R GloverIn contrast to the other review for this hotel, we found the staff in general to be unfriendly. The buffets were lukewarm, each day you had the choice of either pork or veal, queuing was normal, either to get in to the restaurant or for food. The one swimming pool intended for adults only was full of children.
Areas which could have provided some variety to the experience, like the espresso bar and other bars were closed at all times. Yes, the shuttle bus is a free. But only runs between 9-12, 3-6 and 8-11. In the morning rush hour it can take 30 mins not 10 mins to get to town (just in time to miss your ferry!). Many times it was too full to take everyone.
Many of the seat backs were damaged and collapsed. You could find quiet areas if you left the hotel. Every evening there was entertainment outside our room until 10.30 - 11.00 and if this wasn't too your taste you couldn't avoid it. Many times it was the same set each evening. This area also served as an unofficial crèche for noisy kids.
The hotel itself is only 2-3 years old and the rooms are satisfactory, but marred by the continual slamming of doors which shake the building. The shuttle bus or a taxi are essential since the hotel is outside the centre of the town and the roads have no pavements for pedestrians.
Overall recommendation: not suitable for couples without children - better suited for families with children (not teenagers since little for them to do).

The location on the southern end of Lake Garda is great. It enables trips to Verona, Venice and of course around the lake itself. If you stay further up Lake Garda, many of the towns are quite isolated so its difficult to travel far from base.
All in all a good hotel, Pershiera is a nice town to walk around. Thank you Inghams for a nice package.
Advice: Nice town with good access to Venice, Verona and the majority of towns around the lake.
Activities: Tour of the lake by road and boat organised by tour operator.
