Fabulous location
The Mercure Napoli Garibaldi is a clean, comfortable hotel, walking distance from the railway station, the metro station as well as the city centre Garibaldi Square. Which makes it brilliantly located! The staff at the reception is always helpful and well-informed. With classic Italian smiles :-) The breakfast in the coffee shop is substantial, and more than one's money's worth. The hot choclate should not be missed.
Excellent hotel – let down by the location
Excellent hotel – let down by the location Arrived after ten hours travelling to a warm and friendly welcome by the reception (the hotel is less than five minutes walk from the station) The room was clean and comfortable well up to the standard you would expect from the chain The hotel is located in a quiet residential side street in the shoe and bag district (next to the metro line) -- the room was notably quiet giving a good nights sleep The breakfast was of a good standard Eat at night in the Trattoria Da... more
Long Weekend Break
The Hotel is set just off Garibaldi Square in a small side street. We choose this location as it the main station is a few minutes away giving access to Sorrento / Amalfi coast and Pompeii using Naples as a base. 10-15 Minute taxi journey from airport. Expect to pay meter fare of about EUR17 including an additional airport surcharge. Dont let the drivers rip you off with a set fare in excess of EUR25. Bus to Garibalidi square 2 mins from Hotel is about EUR3 and ticket may be valid on other later day transport depending on which bus you... more
Stay away
Wow, not many reviews for quite a few months here...... must mean something, I'd say. We based ourselves in Naples for 4 nights to visit Pompeii, Sorrento, Amalfi, Capri and Ischia. Bad bad bad decision. The hotel property itself was not too bad - staff were pretty friendly, even if they were unable to correct understand some of the questions I asked them (I repeatedly asked if they had already charged my Visa card for my stay as there was a large transaction on my Visa card that I did not know what it was for. They could not... more
interesting location
this hotel is difficult to find and in a dark allyway which can be a little disconserting, but it is very close to the central railway station which can then get you anywhere in italy. the staff where helpful and friendly, we just went to pompeii, didnt see anything else in naples. the location is great for restaurants. the room was a little noisy with street sounds but tollerable. not a bad place to stay
Couldn't ask for any more!
Having heard some stories about how unsafe Naples is, it didn't help that the bus driver warned us when we arrived late at night to "look out" saying "bad company" in respect of the street this hotel was in! In reality there was no one about and we had no problems. The hotel is just off the main square, in an ideal location for the bus and rail links, and a very short walk from the historic centre of Naples. This hotel is excellent value for the 100-Euros odd we paid. We got a large room, nicely furbished, including a TV with Sky... more
Jewel in the dirt
I had read other reviews of this hotel all of which were largely positive. So is this one. In other towns this would be a good hotel. Seen in the context of the rest of Naples it is a jewel. Naples is a dirty town lacking, in my view, any charm whatsoever. It could be lovely but I could not see any sign whatsoever that anyone cares. And believe me I looked, because it was my idea to go there. One day more than enough then get out and go to Sorrento or Amalfi.
Oasis in a rather dilapidated town
In a rather dilapidated town, the hotel and rooms have a fresh and new appearance. The rooms are modern and soundproof, which is essential since it is close to the railway station. Bathroom is bright, with modern finishes and fixtures. Breakfast has above average fare, compared with typical Italian owned budget hotels. Convenient if you are coming by railway, and has a direct bus from the airport. It provides a free shuttle downtown.
An enjoyable stay
The hotel is located several blocks from the train station, just off the square and is very accessible. The staff is great and very helpful. Rooms are similar to Holiday Inn, and even though renovated only a couple of years ago, remain fresh and was a pleasant stay.
Nice Modern Accommodation
Nice, modern accommodation in the centre of Naples. A couple of streets away from Piazza Garibaldi and Napoli Centrale Train Station. We paid 90.00 Euro per night with Buffet Breakfast included in April/May 2003. Rooms are nice, modern and very clean - but pretty small! It's about 5 mins walk from Napoli Centrale Train Station and Piazza Garibaldi Metro. You can easily catch the train to Pompeii and Sorrento.
