Atrocious and abysmal. Never again will I go to Hotel Karanne. The food was disgusting. The room was gross, no running water in wash basin. No hot water. Towels when changed were threadbare. Never again. Overall service very poor rating a very poor 1. The food in the breakfast room was so bad I ate there twice in one week. The juice was watered down everything was appalling. Complaints were ignored. It was one of the worst hotels I ever stayed in.

Great bar called Peperone round the corner ran by Irish couple Sharon & Liam....brilliant, superb friendly people where nothing was too much for them to do for you!!!
The staff at the Karanne were helpful and friendly but the day to day running of the hotel left a lot to be desired and is not used to its full capabilities.... don’t think I would ever go back there.

Do not go to the Karanne Hotel, their food is awful. The Rooms are not Clean and the Public areas are Dirty.

We visited here a couple of years ago and overall were very impressed. The pool is fairly spacious and is located on the main roof and even with the number of rooms we found it uncongested. There were also plenty of sun loungers for free however, its worthwhile getting up a bit earlier and finishing breakfast so you get a good spot. Only thing worth remembering is that because of the height of the hotel it does get a bit windy up there at times.
The meals were good with a fair range of different options. For breakfast there were the usual cooked options e.g. sausages, bacon, tomatoes etc... as well as toast, cold meat, cheese and cereal and for drink there was plenty of tea/coffee/fruit juice. It was mostly self service so really you can have as much as you like. Evening meals served upstairs on the roof near the pool - can get a bit cool up there, so its well advised to eat fairly early. Each night the food varied again with partial self service for the main meals, along with salad and similar. An example of a meal we had would be beef served with veg and gravy.
Pool bar and the cafe in reception serve drinks and cold and cooked meals at fairly reasonable prices and good quality.
We stayed in a hotel room on HB basis so had two twin beds and a convertible chair to provide the third bed. Room was spacious with tv, fridge etc... To save electricity the hotel has a system were you have to put the key ring of the room key in a special holder near the door which allows you to turn on the lights and air conditioning etc...

All in all the hotel compared favourably to others we saw on our holiday. Our twin room had a balcony, an en-suite shower as well as a separate bath. Unfortunately the view from the balcony was other walls of the hotel - at least it was not a building site!
There was the freshwater rooftop pool as well as Internet facilities which proved very useful.
However there were little things that could have been improved a great deal. Breakfast finished too early at 9.30am, and the general standard of the food was not amazing, although it was pleasant enough. The chefs seemed very friendly but the standard of the waiting staff was appalling.
Nice café with friendly staff, although a long wait for food.
Overall a pleasant stay, room was cleaned daily, fridge and TV worked, air con was experiencing some problems but out fan worked. A pleasant home for the week!
