Nice apartment, near beach etc from apersianboy
I think that the apartment was nice and clean, obviously you have to self-cater as its an apartment.. Don't be surprised when you get there and its called "Sun beach apartments" they've apparently changed the name!!!! As you can see from my pictures its pretty basic with one bedroom that has two beds, a bathroom, kitchen which also doubles as lounge/dining area and has a sofa bed which can sleep two people, and theres also a small balcony as well. The location of the apartments are great though, only about five minutes away from the beach, and theres loads of restaurants ranging from Chinese to Mexican as you come out the hotel on your left and right.. theres also a McDonalds and Burger King nearby as well. Shopping-wise theres loads of grocery shops around (but avoid going to Casa Pepe as it's really expensive go anywehere else but here!!!!). Theres clothes shops around and even a Lacoste retailer but if you want to do some real shopping with loads of shops you can get a bus/taxi to Palma city centre which is only about twenty minutes away and theres loads of nice restaurants and shops there too. All in all a nice location.. however theres a club next to the apartments and its got really loud music playing from night until two am so if you've got any children then make sure you get a room at the back of the apartment (it has seven floors!!!!) but don't worry theres a lift. Great holiday destination.. will definitely go there again for holiday.. however the locals said the best weather is in June/July with scorching hot sun.. make sure you check the weather before you go here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?world=4742

We stayed at the sunbeach in june 2005, there were four of us, all young and lively, we got good apartments we were on the 7th floor and had a lovely terrence which was great, the view was just brillant we could see everthing, i taught that the apartments were fine, they were kinda small but still had no problem with that. i din't feel safe walking alone at night through the apartments though, but sher i shouldn't be walking on my own anyway. it was located just over a busy bar and right in the middle of all the partying going on in the strip but as we were on the top floor i didn't hear anything i don't know about the people lower dowm, they have a nice pool area that seemed very clean at all times , the restuarant was quiet niceand the women that ran it was very frindly aswell, we went back to santa ponsa again this year but we didn't stay in the sunbeach because we wnated apartmentswith air conditioning this time round but otherwise i would have no problrm going back to the sunbeach anyday, good hioilday overa all.
Hell on Earth at The Sun Beach Apartments! Someone walked through our room! from fanatical
We stayed at The Sun Beach Apartments in August 2006 for two weeks. It was myself, my husband and my 12 year old son. We are not old only in our 30's and found this place awful! It is a PARTY hotel for 18-25 year olds that NEVER sleep during the night only during the day. The bedroom is set at the back in a claustrophobic room right next to the corridor with a tiny window with bars on it. The first night we arrived we were shattered from traveling and needed sleep. There was no chance of that. All you could hear was a party going with very very loud techno music on in one room. Then there was the constant door bell ringing and banging by drunken idiots. Then came the arguing and shouting. And finally the girls crying and screaming. We didn't sleep at all and felt wrecked. Our good neighbour said he thought it was like being in Beirut! We thought so too. The sheets were filthy, ripped and even had lipstick on them to show that they were not washed. The towels were the same. We were on the 6th floor so we thought the only solution to get any sleep at all was to physically move the beds from the bedroom to the front room and leave the sliding doors open to get some air. It was better not to hear the awful corridor noise. But, you then had the loud bar noise underneath the hotel. One morning around 6 am I was half-asleep and someone walked right past me! I thought it was my husband but I looked over and he & my son were still in bed! Someone was in the room. I sreamed to my husband and he tried to chase the man out but my husband was half-asleep and didn't catch him. The man got out the front door and ran down all the stairs. He was running from the police because we were told he had hit a woman at one of the bars. A few days later they had eventually caught him. We reported it to the staff at the hotel and the man at the desk just said, "ugh..idiots! I hate this season! So many idiots in this hotel!" The staff just looked utterly fed up as were we. You had to take 2 seperate lifts just to get up to our room. Big huge giant cockroaches adorned the stairwells. Bullies surrounded the pool with loud techno music so you could not even go to the pool. I watched one guy lift someone else's child in the air really high and then dropped him crying into the pool fully clothed. He was so upset and frightened. I called security which is a total joke. It is only one guy who does nothing at all. A family with a disabled little girl in a wheelchair had to move three times because of all the lifts and stairs and noise that was upsetting the child. It was so sad. The resort is lovely though but very very Irish and Scottish and I would go back but to a different hotel on the other side of the resort. The best bar is Bar Code 7 with terrific entertainment every night. The beach is gorgeous but do NOT BUY WATERMELON OR SOFT DRINKS ON THE BEACH. They conned us out of £18.00 for two tiny pieces of it! Get it from the supermarket. Fat Sam's has the very best food but get there early as it is always packed.

we have just returned from a holiday in santa ponsa staying at the sun beach apartments for 1 week. the apartments are basic but we found them clean and most of the staff friendly and helpful. the surrounding area is very busy and therefore noisy it didnt bother us but maybe in high season it cud be bad. after reading the bad reviews we were surprised that we enjoyed our stay at this hotel. maybe be best avoided in peak season

I was told this was three-star accommodation - no way! It was not very clean and accommodation was basic. Reception staff varied from the helpful/friendly to taciturn/ brusque. No air conditioning, no cleaning (although I did get a roll of toilet paper everyday, so built up quite a stock!) I would only recommend this place to stay if you are planning to get completely out of your face every night and don't care too much where you sleep. Bus service to Palma is okay if you get to the bus stop early enough and don't mind fighting to get on the bus....

A group of friends and I travelled to Santa Ponsa for a long girlie weekend. The hotel was in a brilliant location - not far from the beach and surrounded by excellent resturants and Bars. Santa Ponsa is really clean and the scenery is amazing. For a lively entertainment bar I would definitely recommend Strings - full of fun. Daniels Corner is also an excellent bar where the staff are really helpful, friendly and fun. I went the first week in May and the weather was fantastic - I enjoyed my stay so much I am coming back in two months time - absolutely excellent. Taxis into Magalluf were cheap so for those who want extra party atmosphere this is the ideal place. The resort offers fun for both couples, groups and families.

The Sun Beach appartments are well situated in Santa Ponsa, with restuarants and bars very close by. The only problem with the appartments was the lack of air conditioning. So you will probably spend as little time there as possible! , though the pool is decent. Okay for a place to crash but would not recomend for families.

Just back from a week in Santa Ponsa, we stayed at the sun beach apartments. We had a great time and the apartments were lovely, nothing 5 star but great for a week in the sun. Our apartments were right in the middle of all the bars and restaurants and just across the road from the beach. Would certainly stay here again, staff are friendly and helpful and it wasn't too busy. Perfect time of year to go as it's not too mad.
