We went to this hotel March 2010, it is an hotel for old people, it caters for long term winter breaks of 6 weeks or more for pensioners to have a winter break from the UK coldness, nothing wrong with that. Unless you are under 70 which is the problem. a] by 10.30 all the... more

The hotel is in the town of Paphos about 1 and a quarter miles from the harbour. I walked it every day taking me 35 minutes. Family and friends were staying in the Kefalonitis in the Kings Road and I walked that in 25 minutes. To take a bus would have meant changing buses... more

Small, clean Hotel, quiet in evenings
We spent a week at the Agapinor Hotel in April having booked a late deal on line. Staff were generally friendly and helpful. We had a room overlooking the pool and out towards the sea (quite a distance). If you have a room on the other side of the Hotel you will overlook a fairly busy road. The room was basic but clean. The room was cleaned daily although towels and bed linen only changed twice a week. We were half board, breakfasts ok, evening meal well depends on how fussy you are! Meal choice could be very boring if you are there for more than a week as there was not much variety, also some strange combinations of food but I guess that's what you get when you are abrod! Puddings were delicious tho! The Hotel is situated on a busy road, about 20/30 minutes walk downhill to the harbour but there is a bus stop right outside the Hotel and the buses are cheap and regular. The market is a 5 minute walk up the hill from the Hotel and there are some shops (M & S!) and restaurants on the way. The Hotel was very quiet in the evenings, I think there was entertainment one night per week and so if you are looking for a lot to do in the evenings you will need to go out and about. The pool is quite small (and very cold when we were there!). I would say this Hotel is ideal for older couples but of limited interest to families as there is nothing really for families to do.

We have just returned from the Agapinor Hotel 04/03/08 after spending one week there. The hotel itself was quite nice, just above average of what you would expect for 3* in Cyprus. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms were cleaned daily with linen and towels changed twice in the week. We went there for my partners 50th birthday, (her choice) having never been to Cyprus before. Apart from two other couples we were the youngest there (by a good bit). The food sadly was another experience. The breakfast was the same everyday.Tea, coffee and toast so far so good. The bacon? was like a tinned spam very thinly sliced/shaved then grilled, the scrambled egg was powdered egg, the boiled eggs like bullets with black around the yolk. The sausages were the tinned hot dog variety and I suppose beans are beans. The evening meal can be described simply as...simple. The burger/meatball thingys were bland/awful,the roast chicken pieces were swimming in watery fluid the beef strogonoff was cheap meat stew, vegetables consisted of sprouts or cabbage. After two attempts we ate out for the rest of the holiday. Having a drink back at the hotel on our last night, we were speaking to two new arrivals and they asked what the food was like, trying not put a downer on the start of their holiday, I said it was an aquired taste but I believe 8 out of 10 breeders recommend it. I will go back to Paphos and maybe stay at the Agapinor but would not go full, half or any board basis.
Simply the Best?
Booked in this hotel last fortnight in november light all inclusive the food was very good cooked to a very high standard. Be prepared to be overwieght going home not just your suit case. The reception staff were brilliant they helped us to have a great holiday the Barman at night had our coffe ready as we walked into the bar what a star. every member of staff made you feel you were special thank you Room was clean view over the sea great well worth an upgrade will return again and again have stayed in 4star in Paphos enjoyed this more my sister and I would like to wish every one of the staff Happy xmas and Paphos is great cant wait to return
Superb stay in the Agapinor! Exceeded my expectations!
I booked by stay at the Agapinor though Going Places- Aspro holidays for September 2007. Like others, after reading reviews on here I was unsure of what to think to everything and I was a little worried about what I'd booked. However I was over the moon with what we got. We checked in after a great flight with a small airline called Flyjet who have now ceased opperations. We checked in and the receptionist was English and really helpful, explained everything, where the rooms were, meal times. So off we went to the room thinking bet we dont get a sea view, and to our delight we did. The Agapinor is a good half an hour walk from the seafront, but the views from the room and its balcony were amazing on an evening when the sun set in the sea. The rooms were clean, comfortable and not bad, basic and adequate, with all mod cons, aircon, tv etc. Bathroom was clean and there was never a hot water shortage at peak times such as 6pm when everyone wants a bath or shower at the end of the day! The hotels restaurant was bufet style and had a diffeent theme every night, cyprus nights, carvery nights, barbeque nights, international buffet nights. There was always salads, and a hot meat maincourse, soups, vegetables, and a selection of desserts. I wouldn't go as far as saying it was 5 star hotel cuisine, but it was good quality and the choic was great, and so was the quality. Wine was dead cheap too! £2.95 (Cyprus pounds.. so about £3.50 GBP) for a half litre karaffe of house wine, or something like that, only worked out a few pounds! Breakfast got a bit repetative, and as someone else mentioned the only thing that changed was the eggs, boiled one day, scrambled anouther! But again there was a choice of toast, fruit, juices, cereals, tea and coffee, bacon, frankfurter sausages, beans, eggs etc. I wasn't overly fond of the entertainment that the hotel held a few nights a week mind, but the bar at the Agapinor has a lovely terrace overlooking the poolside and the whole of Paphos by night, you can see the odd flashing light in the distance of the planes leaving paphos airport, the lights of the cruise ships leaving Limasol, and ofcourse lights alover paphos. Really nice and relaxing to sit with a Brandy Sour which the hotel serves. Brandy sours have brandy, angastura bitters, lemon squash and topped up with soda water. Sounds a bit odd but they are refreshing and really worth a try! failing that the vodka and orange was nice, as they served your mixer such as coke or orange in a seperate jug. So the location. Yes its a walk, about half an hour, maybe 40 minutes. The hotel is only 20 minutes walk from Tomb of the kings, go out the fornt door of the hotle and turn left down a side street past a little mini market and head down hill folling lanes and roads and it brings you out opposite tomb of the kings, and its a quiet enjoyable walk. Busses are something like 70cents to go to and from Kavos Paphos, the bit on the sea front, and a bus to Coral bay a lovely sandy beach was about 1 cypriot pound. Say 1.20GBP. So cheap and the bus stop is round the corner down the hill a bit. The return bus stops outside the hotel, just make sure if your getting a but to the hotel it says market on it and your fine. The market is 3-4 minutes up the road from the hotel, and worth exploring for a few hours. All in all a great holiday, lovely hotel, nice friendly staff, clean, good food and drink, fantastic prices, and in my opinion a fantastic location. Though saying that I like walking, and felt the views from the room made up for the long walk uphill! Just make sure you REQUEST A SEA VIEW ROOM!!! Othrwise your overlooking a road! Hope to go back next year!
Great value for money
My girlfriend and I stayed at The Agapinor hotel in Sept this year.We were pleasantly surprised after reading some reviews. The Agapinor is a small hotel, only 4 floors. Small pool area and two restaurant areas.I personally prefer the smaller hotel,no queues for lifts, easier to get served (food and drink!) We had a room with a balcolny, sea facing but quite a distance! We did have a pool view though. The rooms are basic but adequate and were regularly cleaned. We stayed all inclusive, which is actually all inclusive LIGHT. This means that there is a limit to what you can drink and the times that you can eat and drink. Basically you get local lager (unlimited)and wine (2 caraffes) from 11am - 11pm. Soft drinks 11-11 and tea/coffee 11-11. Breakfast, lunch and dinner times are set with no snacks in between. We were happy with this as we got a cheap deal (£400 for week) and tended to go out at 12 every night anyway.Bar street is reccomended for younger people!!! The food was excellent, varied and very nice with different themes each night. Sunbeds were available every day, although we weren't peak time. The harbour and bar street are about 20 mins walk away ,downhill. A bus runs every 10 mins that will take you wherever you need to go. The hotel is located up a hill in the town centre and has great views. probably not for older or less mobile people though! Would reccomend the hotel definately and also 1.The Water park 2.Seafood restaurant at the harbour (there are a few!) 3.Hire a car and take the coast road, we went all the way around to Ayai Napa.Lovely drive and views! 4.Day at Coral Bay,beautiful beaches. Get there by bus 15 mins All in all a wonderful holiday, would defo return!
3 star - nothing more nothing less
No surprises from this hotel, apart from the small traces of ants on the first night which was terminated by some spray given by reception. We think it's normal though due to the climate, there was no nest, they just come from the balcony. The ants are only small. Breakfast, probably the worst part, certainly nothing to look forward to in the morning, if you miss it a couple of times, you'll get over it. The only thing that changed was the eggs, boiled one day, scrambled the next. Poor mans sausages, half decent bacon and some beans to go with it. The breads not what we're used to and takes a while to toast (may have to go through the toaster a couple of times). No pastries, croissants etc. Location: There is nothing to do around the hotel except shop that can be expensive if buying designer. The market is your typical seaside resort, full of tack and useless stuff, and some decent clothes however. Bus stop is a 5-minute walk and costs 70/80 cents wherever you travel. Taxis: Be careful, they will try and rip you off! You should be paying around £5 a time, even that price we felt we where being ripped off. They will try and charge you £8 for the same fare you had yesterday, so I recommend that you carry £5 notes and just hand them out once you have gone out of the taxis. Room was clean, however only changed the towels twice a week, bed was slightly hard, no silent night I can tell you. We had the town view which was very disappointing. The other side is across the Med, so do try and ask for that at reception. TV - not worth it, might as well have nothing. Only 2 English channels, Sky News, the sound was crackling and Euronews. The others are local or German/CNN. Friendly staff, polite and helpful. Cyprus weather was fantastic, 35 degrees or more all week, would only recommend 1 week though as there is not an awful lot to do there.
Lovely little 3 star
We travelled to Paphos at the beginning of August to see our friends get married. We booked the Agapinor as our other friends had booked to stay there as well. After we booked I read some reviews on the hotel and was dreading our stay! However, we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel is located in the old town of Paphos on a hill with fabulous views over Paphos and out to the sea. Our room was a sea view which was definitely worth paying a little extra for as we had great views of the sunsets. Plenty of storage in the room, nice bathroom, tv, hairdryer, balcony and safe (you have to pay extra for the safe). We only stayed at the hotel once for breakfast, and this was enough! The evening meals were lovely but breakfast was like a cattle market! Too many people trying to get food at the same time, if you aren't a morning person don't attempt it! We ate up the road at 'tea for two', a nice little cafe with brilliant views, they do lovely breakfasts and are reasonably priced. As mentioned before, evening meals were fine, however we did eat out more than in, due to holidaying with friends (highly recommend Poppadoms tandoori restaurant near the st george hotel). A lot of people commented in other reviews that the Agapinor is too far from the nightlife... we walked back twice after a night out and it took us about 25 mins which isn't that far really. Taxis cost around 4 / 5 cypriot pounds one way so walking will save a little money. Bar street in the new paphos area had the usual bars found in lively resorts, but not as ott. The Robin Hood do a great choice of cocktails and they provide free popcorn too! Would highly recommend the adventurous out there to hire quad bikes for a day. We hired a couple from a place near to the harbour, cost £30cyp each for a 300cc quad. We went up the hills past coral bay to the Baths of Adonis (also worth a visit). Some fantastic photo opportunities on the way up. Also worth a mention...the pool area at the Agapinor looks quite small on the pictures, its not too bad, there were plenty of sunbeds while we were there. In fact they never all were in use so whatever time of day you visited you were always likely to get a bed. Pool is clean and not too cold either! There is also parking for those who have a car as we did, as you pass the hotel on your left, turn left down a hill and there is a metal gate which you press a buzzer to be opened. If it is full though you can park across the road on a gravel area. Overall I would recommend the Agapinor, the rooms are fine, pools nice, staff friendly... what more can you ask for?
Great Hotel
Excellent accommodation.Good breakfast, eggs, bacon, toast, cheese, coffee, tea, juices etc, buffet, so eat as much as you wish.Located 30 minutes walk (all downhill) outside the main eating, drinking area of Paphos, the hotel has excellent views across Paphos.Five minutes walk from the hotel is a daily market which will serve all you needs and you get to mix with the locals too.Local buses run into Paphos every 15 minutes but do stop around 7pm each night and the only options open to you if you wish to go into the centre of Paphos at night is to take a taxi or walk, although my wife and i never found the walk a problem. When checking in, or before you go,ask for a balcony with a sea view, as if you are allocated one at the front of the hotel you will not get the evening sun when you will most likely want to be sitting having a drink and finally, the sea view is across the rooftops of Paphos and quite a distance but beautiful.Overall a lovely hotel, friendly staff and a great location.
It was excellent
Just returned from a week in Pathos staying at the Agapinor Hotel. My wife and I booked the hotel based on the information given on the website and before I read reviews that made me a bit apprehensive about going to stay there .We arrived in Pathos and were the last holidaymakers to be dropped off at the Agapinor which we at first thought was a bit away from the buzz of Pathos seafront. It was almost at the top of the hill which houses the Old Town of Pathos and features the daily (except Sundays) Pathos market. which is well worth a visit as is a stroll around the narrow streets there to see the local blacksmith , chairmakers and potmakers busy at work, not as a tourist attraction, but going about their daily business to earn a living. The hotel is on one of the main streets leading to the Old Town . There are two entrances to the hotel off the street :one directly accessing the bar and cafeteria and linked with which features the reception area. Like most hotels the reception area formed the lounge area and was very clean, bright and welcoming and overlooked the swimming pools (one for small children and the other for grown ups) both of which were accessed from this level externally by a stair but also accessible by stair or lift from within. The receptionist was extremely pleasant and welcoming. We proceeded to our room which was air conditioned (I think all rooms had A/C). It was very clean, spacious and had plenty storage areas. We had a balcony overlooking the swimming pools . The bathroom featured both a bath and shower. There was always an abundance of hot water . Room service was excellent. We had booked half board which I would recommend as there are few restaurants nearby the hotel. One has to get to the seafront area to be amongst the abundance and variety of restauarants. This is a 30 minute walk (downhill) or catch a local bus (Nos 10 and 11). but these stopped running around 1900hrs. Taxis are always available . Dining was either in the cafeteria or the dining room. The meals, particularly evening dinner, we found to be excellent with a good choice . Could be a bit repetitious perhaps if you stayed over for two weeks but nevertheless well cooked ,well presented delicious food. Breakfast gave a wide choice with continental fare or cooked whatever your preference. Table clearing service during dining was always efficient . Choice of wines was good. Entertainment was provided some evenings and this finished at 12 midnight not to disturb the early bedders. The swimming pools were maintained in a clean state daily . Staff were always courteous and helpful. I had to write this review after reading some of the horror stories in other reviews about the Agapinor. All in all a very good hotel which I would recommend to anyone holidaying in Pathos .
good value hotel
Good basic 3 star hotel, decent pool at the back of hotel where is was quite quiet as hotel is on a busy road.we only stayed b/b but breakfast was good but not to much choice, staff very pleasant and helpful, the bar staff when we stayed were there seemed very honest and were very pleasant, quiet location in the evening although a couple of evenings entertainment was laid on. you need to go to the harbour or tomb of the kings road where there is plenty of choice of entertainment and decent food, if you are an elvis fan the outback tues night is a worth a visit, but in my opion food not so great. M & S a couple of doors from hotel and a nice cafe tea for two.
