As per usual the hotel looked great...
2 / 10
May 2006, Mrs B Joyce

As per usual the hotel looked great from the pictures that we were shown - however when we got there we didn't get off the coach because we couldn't actually see the hotel but ours was the last stop so we knew it was our stop.
So we got off and noticed JUST THE DOORS to the hotel. The hotel didn't have its own grounds and the front of the hotel was actually just a row of shops - which we weren't told about before we booked. With it being quite an expensive holiday we thought we had asked all the right questions and wasn't expecting any problems at all with it being 3* rated anyway.
Our room was on the second floor at the front of the hotel - right above a clothes shop called Firetrap. The main road was also quite narrow so people in there apartments could see straight into our room so we couldn't use the tiny balcony provided.
We also had a bit of a bug problem and had to ask at reception for that to be sorted out. They did sort it out but after that they left the bug spray for us to sort out anything else.
The pool was very small and all the loungers were dirty looking as if they had been there since the hotel opened in the 80s.
We asked for the hotel NOT to be child friendly as we wanted a quiet time to relax - that was not the case there were kids everywhere screaming and shouting from morning till night.
We asked for the hotel to be as close to the beach as possible with the budget we had - we had to get a taxi every time we went out because it was actually 2 miles!
By the way it was my Honeymoon and i was 7 months pregnant! Great time!

OCT 2004 One week holiday to Paphos...

Jan 2006, clairebradley

OCT 2004 One week holiday to Paphos Cyprus,
Myself my sister and a friend decided to get away from hectic life and booked a last minute holiday, we knew friends out there anyway hence the reason for choosing Cyprus.
We stayed in 3 star hotel called Agipinor on a half board basis, everything was perfect the food was good, the room was nice and the staff was very friendly and helpful, we did not hire a car but there was regular buses everyday that went to the beach, and the town, the sun was shining and it was extremely hot, there are a lot of things to see and visit, the harbour, historical sites, tombs of the kings etc, which unfortunately we didn’t get time see everything, in the evenings our friends made sure we had a good time with going to local bars, traditional taverns and holding dinner parties.
The local people were very friendly and seemed happy, I enjoyed this holiday so much that I moved out to Paphos in march 2005, I am very happy that I did and hope to do more travelling in the near future.

Hotel is centre of town and costs by...

Hotel is centre of town and costs by taxi to go anywhere with nightlife or bars in the evening . The hotels entertainment leaves a lot to be desired A DJ one night and a basouki player another the rest of the nights nothing and the bar prices very pricey.
The buses stop running at 7,oopm that leaves you at the mercy of paying for taxis everywhere . It is a long 40 minutes walk to get to any nightlife .
The breakfasts at the hotel are somewhat a farce , I half expected Jeremy Beadle to appear. We ended up eating out for breakfast after trying on numerous occasions to get anything decent. I must admit we were on half board and the evening meals were nice and they have themed nights for food .
Sea approx 3 kms away and the town shuts at 7pm so if you cannot walk far you are a captive audience.
Hotel Staff are nice and the place is kept clean to a high standard. Although, our Towels were changed only five times in a fortnight.
Not our idea of a holiday hotel more for business a person in our opinion or someone who wants to shop until 7pm.

First impression of the hotel was...
5 / 10
Jun 2004, Mrs C Barnes

First impression of the hotel was good the reception area within the lounge is very nice. All of the receptionists spoke very good English and were very helpful. Our room had a sea view but the sea was a very long way away and the view was not very picturesque. The room was quite clean, our sheets were changed every other day and the towels daily.
My husband and I were on a bed and breakfast basis but the breakfast left a lot to be desired. Cheap brand cereal, watery squash, not fruit juice, a choice of three cooked meats, watermelon, orange segments. On the hot side there was baked beans, streaky bacon, more fat then meat, hot dogs and what vaguely resembled scrambled egg or if you were lucky hard boiled eggs, oh and very nice bread buns, and the good point was the tea and coffee was very nice!
We found the pool area to be rather cramped and that was in mid June so it must be much worse in high season, also the cushions for the sun loungers were a bit scruffy. The Bar Area is very nice and the bar staff were lovely; also the sun terrace was very nice.
Our main complaint about the hotel was its location, a good 40 minute walk away from the main harbour area or a 4cypriot pound taxi ride (the buses finished at 7pm each evening) In the old town where the hotel is located there are no restaurants or bars open on an evening. we were to tired to venture down to the harbour one night and only found one place open for a meal in the old town (Tea for two) Pathos harbour is very lively with many bars and restaurants to suit all tastes, but you could not call it "charming" by any stretch of the imagination.

We stayed at this hotel for Christmas...
8 / 10
Dec 2003, Mrs J Barker

We stayed at this hotel for Christmas 2003 for 1 week. Originally when we booked this holiday it was to be for our second Christmas away, however, it turned out to be the place we stayed at whilst getting married.
When booked the hotel we knew it was a distance from the harbour but this turned out to be one of the pleasures of the holiday for us. You were near to all the designer shopping areas and the market, as opposed to the abundance of opticians and jewellery shops down in the harbour area. As this holiday was not going to be based on total sun worship the walk down to the harbour was very pleasant and a great way to get to know Paphos along the way. However, if you are not the walking kind it is only a 5 minute taxi ride into the town.
We found the hotel to be very pleasant, clean and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Yes the pool is small but the hotel doesn’t advertise it as anything else. The food was of a good standard and there were 2 restaurants, one a buffet service and the other a waiter service with a choice of at least 3 options for each course. The best thing being that you didn’t have to fight to get a table or to get food!
The bar and reception area are lovely and in the evening there is regular entertainment.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for something different in Paphos on a budget and who doesn’t want to be surrounded by the crowds.
If you want all the hustle & bustle then get a taxi and party the night away in the harbour area then come back to the haven of the Agapinor.

Sep 2003, Mrs M Steel

We stayed here in 2003 after many pleasant trips to other hotels in Paphos. The room was shabby and the TV remote fastened by wire to the bedside table so difficult to use. The actual room faced the main road and was overlooked by run-down flats over a shopping parade, noise was awful and the tenants opposite just sat staring into your room each day and night so we had to keep the curtains closed to prevent feeling as if in a goldfish bowl. Breakfast room light and airy but food awful. Dry and bland. Bar OK and bar staff friendly but entertainer (British singer) was awful. Situated close to market and about 4 Cyprus pounds for taxi to harbour. Staff OK apart from one girl on reception who answered any polite queries (such as "will there be someone on reception early in morning") with a shrug. Don’t let this put you off Paphos. It is a beautiful place with some lovely hotels, but not the Agapinor!
