World-Class Hotel in Havana
from GeniJak
World-Class Hotel in Havana I was warned before coming to Havana that ‘high Western standards’ do not apply in Cuba. Luckily for me, the Melia Cohiba is one of the more modern, convenient and well-serviced hotels in Havana. I would highly recommend the Melia Cohiba, Vedado to anyone visiting Cuba. Positives: Great service generally, especially the concierge. Pool and surrounding area (including gym) are huge and beautiful. Room service is prompt and reasonably priced. Maids are excellent and trustworthy. Hotel is very...

Excellent hotel
from LambyHibs
We stayed at the Melia Cohiba as part of a twin centre holiday with Melia Cayo Guillermo. Fantastic hotel. Our room was excellent and the staff were very friendly. Good choice of bars and restaurants. An ideal location in Havana. Another reviwer stated that the maids at Melia Cohiba are thieves. This is a gross generalisation. My wife left her watch in our room and we realised once we'd left Havana. However, the maid handed it into reception and it was sent onto us in the Cayo's. Therefore, it's a shame to cast the maids as thieves.
Just O.K.

The Cohiba was not my hotel of choice. Would have preferred the N H PARQUE, but purchased a combo package with Varadero and could not substitute. Is situated in close proximity of the Malecon and that was (for us) the only attraction. It is otherwise a high rise, modern complex compareable to any of its' kind in other western cities we have travelled to. Found it very clean and service somewhat impersonal. We were kept waiting to check in while the attendant carried on a very lengthy personal conversation on the phone after our very slow...

Great by Havana Standards
from Jesterinoz
Stayed at this hotel for 6 nights in late July 2007. Hotels in Havana during the tourist season tend to fill up fast so most of the other hotels were already full by the time I booked (10 days before). At the time I would have prefered to have stayed at the NH Parque (which was full), but in hindsight the Melia Cohiba didn't let us down. Firstly, before I would start - do not come here expecting western standards. Certain things in Cuba - notably the financial system and communications do not make this possible. You may book this...

4 star Melia Cohiba
from Netherlands
This hotel looks old , when you walk in you still can feel the last pieces of the charm this hotel once had. The service and staff was good here compared to other hotels we have been to in Cuba. The room was like the hotel a little over dated. The swimming pool area was nice and the food there soso. This hotel is a little out of the city center (10 min by cab to old Havana). We also went to the National hotel and also this hotel needs to have some renovation. Overall one of the better hotels in Havana but like Havana itself it really need to...

Havana Luxury
from JulieDavies
After having some booking problems with Thomas Cook we were told we couldn't stay at the National as we had wanted, but there was availability at the Melia Cohiba. The travel agent had stayed there and said we would like it. When we walked in it was a case of 'wow, we like this'. Our room had been upgraded to a suite on the 14th floor (there are plenty of lifts and plenty of bellboys to take your cases). We had huge windows overlooking the pool below, the sea, and a lot of residential Havana. The lounge in the suite had two settees,...

A higher standard than normal resort hotels
from Suzie12
We stayed at the Melia Cohiba for 3 nights as part of a twin centre holiday to Cayo Guillermo and Havana booked through Thomas Cook. I was surprised by this hotel: for a holiday destination, it bore the closest resemblance to a European or American 4/5* that I have come across. It had the feel of a business hotel. Rooms: The room we stayed in was a corner and although we hadn't booked one I suspect it was a suite: there was a superking-sized bed, an office area, separated from a sitting area with sofas by a wide pillar. There...

dont ask the staff questions....
from Mark096
we stayed there for 3 nights at the end of our trip. The hotel itself is very nice and the general staff quite friendly. As for the cadeca operator, the concierge service....Do not order breakfast in bed they tried to charge us 42CUP for it after me calling customer service and being told there was no charge!!! I was told I didnt understandf their policies and that the HW on my guest card meant mass rate...ie that I had b&B for 2 people for 3 nights but only one breakfast per morning the other had to be paid for...and I should have known...

No Justice at the Melia
from TravellerKingston
We arrived in Cuba on the 4th of April. It is a very interesting place to learn about overall. The hotel was aesthetically average; there were nice restaurants, a good pool and lovely art displays. Our housekeeper, who came to clean every day, made us feel very at home and even wrote us a letter wish us a 'happy stay' at the Melia. The final day of our stay, however, turned out not so happy. The same housekeeper stole a US$300 shirt and another blouse from our room on the 9th of April, the last day of our stay. She did it this way...
