Good quality 3* self-catering accommodation
Just got back from a 1 week package holiday with Budget Travel at the Club Vistaflor where we stayed in one of the bungalows facing the tennis courts. We were pleasantly surprised by the place and can definitely recommend it. PLUSES: - as is stated in other reviews, the accommodation is pretty high standard compared with other 3* self-catering places - nothing in the apartment looked shabby - kettle, microwave, etc. all included - clean - nice and quiet (we were there in November, so during no-kids-offseason) - the BBQ they do is really fantastic - close to the gorgeous Maspalomas sand dunes MINUSES: - bed too soft and uncomfortable There was nothing else really wrong with the place. The staff was nice and courteous and really helped us when we had luggage problems, we always got plenty of fresh towels, the hotel had a nice, modern atmosphere and the place felt safe and well-kept. If you're looking for a quiet holiday in the sun, this is for you.
Loved it
Stayed at Vistaflor club for a week. Quiet location but got taxi's most of the time (especially when it was too hot to walk or we were wearing heels). It took about 5mins to get to Playa des Ingles or Maspalomas beach and usually cost around E2 for three of us. The accommodation itself was the best self-catering I've ever stayed in when on a sun holiday. The apartments were duplex and had plenty of facilities for cooking, coin operated t.v. (which we didn't really need), Air conditioning was for upstairs bedroom only, so one of our party (who slept on the sofa bed downstairs), had to make do with the ceiling fan, but didn't find it a problem. small balcony upstairs, but downstairs you had two sunloungers in your own small courtyard area which was about 2m from the pool's edge. nice pool too. Lots of families with kids around but they didn't bother us. There was a lovely atmosphere. And there were no noise problems at night. Staff were friendly, food at the restaurant was nice but we only went there once because it was slightly more expensive and had less choice than the hundred's of restaurants in playa des ingles. All the staff were friendly and helpful and there was regular maid service. If you wanted to sleep in, they would not bother you and came back later when you were out. I would recommend it.
Best apartments in Gran Canaria!
Club Vistaflor Apartments are located in the Campo de Golf area of Maspalomas. Playa del Ingles is a 5 min taxi ride (about €3) away and the Faro 2 Shopping Centre is a 5 min walk from the apartments. This complex is fantastic value for money and offers a lot more than most apartments in Gran Canaria. Each apartment is duplex in style with your own patio area. Living room consists of a sofa bed, TV and ceiling fan. Your kitchen includes a microwave, coffee maker, electric kettle, toaster and seperate seating area. Upstairs is your bathroom with walk-in shower and hairdryer and the double bedroom with balcony. The air-conditioning unit is located in the bedroom (A deposit is required for the remote to operate). The pool area is large enough and you normally have no problem getting a sunbed at any time of the day as each apartment also has its own 2 sunbeds on the patio. There is a large pool, seperate kiddies pool and jaquizze. The bar / restaurant is great value for money and ideal for lunch. Some evening entertainment is provided in high season. Nearby is the HolidayWorld amusement park, Ocean Park and the golf course in Maspalomas. The must see's and do's while in Gran Canaria are: Sioux City, Aguamar Waterpark, The Red & Black Casino Show, a day in Puerto Rico and if you like shopping a trip to Las Arenas Shopping Centre. Some of the best restaurants include: Michelangelo's (Faro 2 Centre), El Gaucho (Kasbah/Metero Centre), Ola Ola (Yumbo Centre) and Maximillians (opposite the Aguila Rocha/Irish Centre).
Surprising!
We booked our holiday through Budget Travel. For the first week, there was 7 of us and 11 more of our friends joined us for the second week. We are all around 18 and 19 and were not initially sure about whether this hotel was suitable for a group of young people partying every night in Playa del Ingles celebrating finishing school but it was perfect. Located in Maspalomas, a €3 taxi ride from Playa del Ingles, it was much quieter, cleaner and friendlier than many of the apartments we saw in Playa del Ingles. The complex consists of several 2 storey building which are attached but it feels as if you have your own separate house. Each apartment has a kitchen downstairs consisting of a cooker, sink, table and chairs, microwave, kettle, iron, ironing board etc and a living area beside this with a slot money tv (i think 50c buys a half an hour), a telephone, a sofa bed with a second pull out matress and a coffee table. Air conditioning is available for a €30 deposit which you get back on check out (as long as you keep the receipt). We were there during a heat wave so literally couldnt survive without it!! The second floor has one bedroom and one bathroom. The decor differed in all our apartments but it was all nice and comfy. The bedroom has a double bed with two single duvets, a wardrobe, dressing table and balcony with clothes line. There is a safe in the wardrobe which caused us a bit of hassle. We paid for it (€2 a day plus extra i think) but it didnt work. We asked at reception and they said a man would come to fix it but didnt tell me when so i didnt know that i was supposed to be in the apartment at that time and we didnt get round to actually using it until the end of the second week but i have no doubt it was as much our fault as there's!! Some of the staff were very friendly but some really werent, it could have been a language barrier or the fact that we were a group of young ones! All in all the apartment was great, not many cockroaches or ants, clean ( maids come every day except tuesday and thursday). The pool was lovely, located right in the centre of the complex, apartments seem to either have a view of the pool or the road, neither being very interesting!! There is a kids pool area and then a normal pool with a shallow and deep end. It's quite busy but there are always beds to be taken. One area which was not good was the lunch food. We never ate there for dinner but would sometimes have a snack during the day if we were around. The only thing which i could reccommend there is the chef's salad,a chicken salad which is streets ahead of the processed, greasy and rather sickening other options. A "breast of chicken sandwich" is actually a sandwich made with a thick slab of reconstituted, suspiciously juicy, plasticky chicken. Perhaps the dinner food is nicer. We had breakfast twice, €5.50, it was decent except for the strange tiny frankfurters. We went to aqualand which was great. We bought our ticket at reception €23 including all rides. Its then more money for a locker and more for food and is quite an expensive day all round but enjoyable. Dont lock your flip flops in your locker, put them on your hands going down the slides, the ground is way too hot for bare feet! The market is good, mostly fake watches, glasses and bags some better than others. Haggle haggle haggle!! For nightlife, we mostly went to the irish centre, about €3 from hotel. Flanagans and Malone's are the best and you can do karaoke in scruffy murphy's. Beside that is Disco Life, a nightclub which is €10 including a free drink and t shirt. To warn you, there is no such thing as one drink in playa dI. It's constant happy hour, order one drink, pay 7 or 8 euro and they give you two. A bit of a scam because you really are paying for two but i suppose it works out a lot cheaper than irish prices. Find a friend who drinks the same drink as you so that you dont end up too sozzled! If you want to go to Cream, go to chinawhite first, get a stamp and get into cream for free. If you're a big group like us dont forget to haggle with the touts before you go into a bar. We got loads of free alcohol every night, 3 or four bottles or free champagne or peach schnapps but it's worth finding a good deal not just a few free cocktails!! For food we reccommend El Gaucho and El Rancho in playa del ingles and any of the steakhouses in the Faro2 centre down the road from the hotel. You can get 10% off vouchers for el gaucho from touts around the kasbah and plaza area. Unfortunately spanish food is pretty hard to find but i'm sure if youre looking for good tapas, youll find it!! Thats about all i can think of!!
Great Little Place In The Sun
Jessica Maxi are extremely nice and geniune people as are all the staff in club vista flor, this our 4th year there and the kids just love it there, they have met so many friends over the years who have also keep coming back ,our only gripe is that they need to improve the entertainment ,its poor enough. Poolside massage is available to help you unwind, rates are reasonable,
Perfect budget holiday
I dont agree with the review posted below - maybe its not suitable for kids because of the hazards but we are 2 girls in our mid 20's & stayed at Club Vistaflor the last week in February & I dont have any complaints(apart from the water did go cold after 1 shower but heated up 20 mins later). I paid 300 for a week with Budget Travel & everything went smoothly with the airport transfer & check in - didnt have to wait at all, the staff were very prompt. We were plesantly suprised when we walked into our duplex apt(called bungalows in canaries). Everything was spotless clean, & it was very modern, fresh & cosy looking. We had a duplex at the back facing the tennis courts which was nice to watch people playing. One would probably be unlucky to get one at the front facing a brick wall but the majority face the pool or courts. We thought it was better to face the courts as everyone at the pool can see into your living area & theres less privacy. We ate in the hotel 2 nights & had a barbeque one night which was quite good for only 12e each. The spagetti bolonaise was delicious too & cheap. Some of hotel staff are friendly & helpful - especially the guys Maxi & Agustine. we asked them a million questions & they always helped. The girls are moody. This complex is not suited to young people looking for a wild holiday - we wanted relaxation & the night life isonly 4mins away in a taxi for €3. There are mostly old or married couples staying here but we didnt mind as we went to the beach everyday & out every night to a few very good clubs in Playa del Ingles - the best being China White if you love RnB. I will definitely go back to Club Vistaflor again -it was the best budget holiday i have been on & I highly recommed staying there & booking through Budget Travel. Alot of photos of the complex to follow...
Not child Friendly.
I stayed here in Feburary with my family and was a litte disappointed with the overall quality of the complex. It could really be lovely if a few quid was spent on doing it up. First off, all the apartments are the same, except some face the pool area (the nice ones) and about 15 at the front of the complex face a concrete wall separating them from the main road. (looks like a bit of a yard) This place is ideal for any couples between 35 - 70 who just wish to relax for a week or two by the pool and not venture too far. For anyone traveling with small children then there are many hazards to be avoided in Club Vistflor. These apartments consist of 2 stories, the bedroom and bathroom being upstairs. The stairs is quite steep and can be dangerous for small children or more mature people. Pros: *Nice adult pool. *Apartments are clean. *Reasonably quite area. Not located in the middle of a resort! Cons: *Crap showers, run out of hot water after approx 90 secs by design. *Missing tiles in Childrens pool. Could be easily rectified if the desire was there. *Banister on stairs in the apartment was loose. *A child under three could easily slip through the railings on the upstairs balconies. *Food quality was poor.
Will definately return
Just back from a week in Club Vista Flor Maspalomas (January 2007) with 2 other couples, had a bril holiday, the apartments were one of the best we have stayed in, well equipped and spotless, taxi's around €3, return trip by bus to Porto Rico only €4.50, had fantastic weather, great walks, very cheap to eat out, chinese across the road in Faro2 shopping centre a must, very reasonable and good food Will definately go back again Irish traveller
December in Maspalomas
Please note this complex is separate from the bigger and older vistaflor bungalows. The common areas are very nice and new and modern. The apartment was above average standard for this type of accommodation in the canaries which tends to be very basic normally. The major gripe was in relation to the tiny hot water tank which one person could not even get one proper shower out of without going cold. It reheated in about 20 minutes but it is still a pain to have to wait. There was a free toaster, kettle, microwave and foreign language TV other than CNN. The walls are very thin but our neighbours for the week were quiet thankfully. The duplexes back onto each other and so there is no air through the apartment which may be a problem in hot months. It is a 25 minute walk to the Maspalomas beach and about 20 minutes to yumbo, 25 to Kasbah. This is a small development and so is unlikely to be too noisy but the pool is quite small and the water was very cold (not a problem in hot months).
Club Vista Flor
Just back from our Hols in Maspalomas. Arrived at Club Vista Flor at 5.45am on a Sunday morning. I was so glad to find that there was a large bottle of water in the fridge, sachets of tea, coffee, sugar and milk in the kitchen, and sachets of shower gel in the bathroom. We needed the water at that time. The Bungalows are very clean and plenty big enough for two people. Also had air conditioning. The weather was fantastic, beautiful restaurants, and the walks are just fantastic. We walked for miles along the promenade, and there was still more to walk, but we didnt have time to get around to it. We really liked the fact that it was not too busy, but very relaxing. We will go for two weeks next time.
