We were booked in for a self catering holiday but intended to use the restaurant at the hotel a couple of times each week of our stay. On arrival at Jasmine we were told by the owner that we were not expected, no booking had been made for us! Thankfully I had all the... more

The rooms were standard and fairly clean. The manager and his wife were very unhelpful. You had to make an appointment to see your rep (unheard of in all my travelling). Brochure/Internet specified that there was a 24 hour mini market (not true) bar in the hotel was... more

Stayed at the Jasmine Apartments out of no choice of ours. Originally booked Sunsmile Aprts but unfortunately the placed had closed down. Libra had booked us in the Jasmine. Unfortunately all the things I had read what was available on the internet and Libras brochures they stated that the Jasmine had entertainment nights (NOT TRUE), games machines (NOT TRUE). The aprts were standard and clean. Unfortunately the Manager and his wife were very rude. We were not allowed to use the bar after midnight nor go out to the pool side for a quite drink as we were told by the reception desk because we might wake the owners up. (This was a joke, we were on holiday not in a concentation camp.) Did not see Libra rep in the two weeks we were there, apparently you needed to make an appointment to see her (What was it, was I going to make a dentist appointment). I am greek cypriot and love Limassol, but the experience we had at the Jasmine, I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. Several people were moaning about the hotel, so I do hope that they write their reviews on this hotel. As for the mini market, it states that its open 24 hrs well thats a complete lie, the manager refused to sell some cigs to a holiday maker, he told her to go out to one of the bars to buy some. And to end this review just letting you know that the pool is quite deep. You need to be over 5ft tall to be able to stand in the shallow end.
pure example of average
Found my stay at jasmine hotel enjoyable but i agree with the race track outside . nice pool area with a bar. Food was ok there but you have to go to woodmans cheap and really nice , turn left at pizza hut but keep on left handside of rd. good bars along the front. And yes there is a lot of ants scattered around the hotel.
Not That Bad
we stayed here last 2 weeks in June, and found the staff quite friendly. We did not have to pay extra for air con, which others have mentioned, possibly the 1/2 person rooms on the top floor have not got this as there are no heat exchange units on their balconies, which are just big enough for 2 people. We stayed in a 3 person room on the 3rd floor and it was fine, though the 'maids' come about 10.30 if you're trying to lie in. The road outside is a bit noisy with passing traffic, and some guests were complaining, they do roar along the main road into town which is 100 yards away. There is a shop and a bakery just up the road from Jasmine, and 3 good food places nearby along the main road to the left, and a at least one more to the right incl an Indian one. The beach is nearby also, behind Pizza Hut, but has a stoney bit just at the water's edge. Beware the sand gets hot! The main tourist area is at least a quarter of a mile away, and Limassol town centre is 20 mins on the bus. We liked the old town, but shops similar, locals friendly. Lady's Mile beach round the bay towards Akrotiri is definately worth a visit, as it has nice sandy beach, but you need a car really to get there. Nicosia is about 60 mins drive away, was v hot when we went but shops are quite nice and locals friendly.
Awful Hotel & Place.
We visited limassol 06/07 and stayed in the jasmine apprts, which apon entering reception it looked a nice clean hotel, sadly this wasnt the case. So here are a few points before considering a stay in jasmine & limmasol. Bathroom- hadnt been cleaned and there were dirt rings in bath and wash basin, mirror was so dirty it was hard to see yourself in it, the towels looked as if they hadnt been washed in weeks. Bedroom/Living area- The only cleaning in these rooms from the daily maid seemed to be sweeping the floor, she would put dirty cups etc back into cupboard (unwashed), bed sheets only seem to get washed if you wash them yourself, and they have a serious problem with Ants (and i dont mean one or two) prob about 10 in each bed and lots over the walls esp when using the hairdryer as this seems to send them into a frenzy. The fridge in room was dirty and the smelled like cabbage. The Staff- Seemed unable to rasie a smile, seemingly unable to look at you when talking to you, and use grunts as communication. Pool/Bar/Restaurant- Pool area looked ok but we didnt use these areas as rooms so dirty i didnt even want to think how bad the kitchen was esp with all the ants. Services- Safe was fairly priced at 1 cyp a day (83p) but Air con a little expensive at £3.50 cyp a day (about £4.20) Limassol it's self we found wasnt the ideal holiday location, The main road through the town which most hotels are on is used the locals as the race track, and even when you use the crossings many DON'T stop, this is because many are driving like boy racers high speeds (eg motorbike driving 80+ mph pulling wheelies and the noise is awful (not great as this is where the restaurants are,a bit like having a picknick next to M25 except faster). The town its self was very clean this was prob because there was only a handfull of tourists, the beechs are ok but the sand is black/dark and lots of rocks on it and in the water. The food in most resturants was pretty good in most places (woodman and shades really good) but was overpriced and saw some places selling egg and chips 3.50 cyp (about £4.20) and drinks quite expensive too unless drinking local sprints/wines/beers. Finally when we heard the local hospitality was legendary we didnt realise this meant it was legendary find any, rude and arrogant 85% of the time except the ones who were taking your 3.50 cyp for egg and chips (they always had a smile on there face;s, strange that ! ) Weather - fantastic After 6 days here we just wanted to be somewhere else (anywhere apart from limassol) so we went and hired a hotel in ayia napa (3 days) and paphos (4 days) Both of these places were everything limassol wasnt, friendly, fairly priced, lots to do, and not next to the race track. If you do find yourself at limassol after reading this, dont say i didnt warn you..
so this was an upgrade....................................
stayed at the jasmine 11-25th july in a family party of 20. originally booked in at the valana but changed by thomas cook 3 days before flying. told this was an upgrade!?. hotel staff abrupt at the best of times and the mini shop in the foyer did not sell milk, so if on a late arrival dont expect to be able to make tea or coffee. we had one day each week without water (maintance) leaving no toilet facilities which is not good when you have young children. owners decided to paint the walls of the stairs and the banister during our stay leaving the smell of paint everywhere. took the hotel a week to fix one of the fridges in the rooms and one of the sofa beds broke. swimming pool was overrun by locals at the weekends who would remove your towel from the sun lounger if you were not there. limassol beach is dark dirty sand and very stoney so again not good for the children. limassol is very drawn out but the bus was only 80 cents to get off anywhere you wanted. limassol is generally expensive approx 20% more than the uk.
Not bad but wouldn't go to Limassol again! Disappointing!
Stayed at Jasmine 11th-25th july 2006, in family group of 20. Hotel not too bad, but very disappointed in the location. Hotel is on a road that has a lot of traffic noise, the restaurants, shops, bars etc. are a fair walking distance away, balcony is tiny & only room for 2 chairs....a squeeze for 2 people to sit out on! The pool became overcrowded in the afternoon, as was over-run by locals who insisted on 'dive-bombing' into the pool to see who could make the biggest splash!! This was not safe for our own kids to swim in at this time, as we saw a couple of people nearly landed on by the local kids who just ran & jumped into the pool without bothering to check if anyone was in their path! None of us were impressed by Limassol at all, it is too much of a "towny" place (OK if you like that sort of thing, but not if you want everything close by & relaxing!). The male cashier at the local bank was very abrupt & rude, slamming the passport & money onto the counter, (that is when he finally decided to get off the phone and serve us!) we felt very unwelcome in spite of the fact that we were giving the bank our business!! We found the need to hire cars to see something of Cyprus, but check prices with the hire company before agreeing, as we found the prices were actually more than quoted when the cars were delivered & it came to filling out the forms. (They tried to charge us £62 extra for fuel in advance, yet we only used around £30 worth). On a positive note, we had several good meals in the 'old town' at Cabalero's (near to the castle), who made us very welcome and the food was great & reasonably priced!
Dreadful but we got what we paid for.
My 7 year old son and I stayed at the Jasmine for 1 week in November 2005 whilst my husband was out there on business for a few weeks. On our first night it rained quite hard and the roof leaked. We were using saucepans to collect the rainwater coming through the ceiling. The room was very basic and you had to pay extra for heating or air conditioning. We were on the top floor and when you got out of the lift the carpets were so stained and old and the walls so dark and grey it was really depressing. The balcony was virtually non-existant with birds mess all over the tables and chairs and it was so small you were unable to sit out anyway. The noise from the main road was unbearable as they use this road as a cut-through from the main roads in town and lots of the cars and motorbikes raced along it. As one of the previous reviewers has mentioned it is away from the main restaurants/night life but there was a lovely bakers nearby which sold fresh bread and cakes daily. We booked this apartment through a travel agent last minute and it was not an apartment that was allocated to us on arrival but the brochure made it sound nice. Our stay there was so dreadful that we actually tried to joke about it to make light of the situation and we certainly would not recommend it. It may be that we were just allocated a bad room on a noisy side of the hotel but we can only speak as we find.
Handy for Papas Supermarket and Tavernas
We enjoyed our stay here. Close to everything. Bus stop just down road. Air con was pricy at £4 per night for two units (if you was in a one bed apartment) but we had no choice as it was hot. We love Cyprus fair Limassol isnt the best resort but its got something going for it as we keep going back. Hopefully to reside there when we retire.
pleasant surprise good value4money
pleasantly surprised with this hotel.Quite small & very friendly.Basic but good size rooms pretty garden with 2 pools& bar make this a little gem!We stayed here for 4 weeks S.C in Feb and enjoyed the friendly atmosphere very much.Only ate in the restaurant 4 times but enjoyed every meal.We were looking for the cheapest we could find,so had no expectations and it was better than we could have hoped.Definately would go again(when its warmer!)
