This is worth a read

On arrival to the hotel Pliska we were excited as it looked gorgeous. When we booked in we were put on the 7th floor which meant getting into a tiny lift to the 5th floor then walking down a long corridor to another lift to which took you to the 7th floor. Our bags were heavy but a small hotel staff member insisted on carrying our 2 large suit cases and 1 bag which was very helpful. He brough us all theway to our room and asked where we would like our bags left. At this stage we hadn't seen our room past him as he was in the door way. Whe he put our bags in and left we walked in and could not fit in the room with 2 single beds squished together and a tiny foam chair converted into a bed for my 4 year old son - for whom i had paid 3/4 the price of my own adult price. To walk around the room you had to step onto the bed to get to the other side. We went out to the balcony and could see into the bedrooms on both sides of ours - no balcony privacy. While having a snoop into the rooms on either side i noticed that the so called bed my son was to sleep on was sitting in the corner of the other rooms as a tiny chair. i was furious that his stay costed almost as much as mine and his so called bed would have been in the room whether i'd paid for him or not. We were getting dis heartened by the minute so within 10 mins we were back down to reception to complain. The receptionist insisted there were no more rooms available in the hotel so i demanded the reps mobile no. Within 2hrs we were allocated a new room on the 3rd floor a lovely sitting room, small bar area with fridge, air conditioning, seperate bed room, hall, closet area and large bathroom. because all this had happened on the first day it didnt affect our holiday at all. We then enjoyed another 6days in the hotel the staff were so friendly, food was cheap pool was child friendly and we really enjoyed it. The moral of the story ~ if you get a tiny room and its not what you think you paid for be the first to the recetion and get your reps no. You will enjoy the Pliska, eventually!

just back from a week in bulgaria have to admit was slightly worried bout the hotel after some of the reviews i'd read but i've absolutely nothing to complain about. The hotel was lovely the staff were even nicer, so friendly and helpful. Was very close to the shops and it was a nice walk to the beach and most of the pubs and clubs. Would recommend this hotel and resort to anyone, i loved it and would go back in a second.

we stayed at pliska hotel for a week from 14th july and had a very enjoyable holiday. we were slighty wary about what to expect after reading some horrible reviews before we went but once we got there we were relieved. the hotel and rooms very clean, staff friendly and resort fantastic and cheap all round. found some great restaurants would recommend mama mia's for a steak. i will definately be returning to golden sands in the near future and probably back to pliska as the location was fantastic close enough to everything but quiet aswell. WELL WORTH A VISIT!!! GOLDEN SANDS IS AMAZING!!!! if you do visit golden sands i would recommend the bulgarian night excursion for family's and couples! BRILLIANT!!!!!!

stayed in the pliska for 2 weeks on july 28th, room was average size but shower very small, room had a balcony with pool views, walls are paper thin so can hear near enough everything next door, only problem with the hotel was a lot of noisy guests, 2nd night and heard a lot of shouting, also kids running about knocking doors at night, though that could happen in any hotel, breakfast wasn't that nice, pool was nice but always very packed so advise is to get down early and leave a towel as thats what a lot of people do, hotel is close to the main party street, about 4 min walk, cleaners who cleaned are room was very friendly and always done a real good job, apart from the noise at night time and the size of the shower i would say this is an ok hotel.
OH FOR THE QUITE LIFE
from moostk
If you want a quiet holiday this is not the hotel for you - drunken guests, fights, arguments, shouting, playing football, kicking and slamming of doors - in the corridors - throughout the early hours of the morning preventing a good nights sleep. It was not quiet around the poolside during the day or evening as they played very loud disco type music everyday and all day. Could not fault cleaners, food,or staff. From a very tired guest
Great value for money

We booked a last minute week's holiday here via Balkan Holidays/Teletext and having never been to Bulgaria before, went with an open mind. The hotel was very good and all the staff extremely helpful and friendly, taking time out to chat to you. The room was not huge but adequate and clean. The breakfast was varied and we ate dinner there on two occasions finding it very good and economical. Location was excellent, close to beach and shops but on the edge of the busiest parts of the resorts so was fairly quiet at night. Would definitely go there again and would recommend it if you are looking for an economical hotel.
Never again will I venture into the PLiska

Hotel Pliska… The facts as they truly are….. The Rooms, Well they are clean, but the one we had did have a really bad leak at the back of the toilet and the water would not stop running into the toilet bowl, The shower was no bigger than one from a caravan and to get a full shower you had to edge round a bit at a time to get full advantage of the water, there was no point in the curtain as you could not close it and if you did it just clung to you as it was so close, I would say there was a 2 inch gap between the shower and sink, and I am not making this up. When it was time to chill out from the sun and maybe watch a little TV, The TV was only programmed to Bulgarian or German, NO English channels at all... Breakfast, after the second day it was a waste of time as it was the same day in day out, Scrambled (Badly) egg, Boiled egg, Fried (cremated) egg, Frankfurters, Some form of meats, Cheese that had a very bad smell and taste and mixed beans, well I think they were beans as there was other things mixed in with them.. but if you really do want brekkie then I suggest you do so before the Germans and Dutch make an appearance otherwise you will be back in the war zones of the past as they “Do Not Take Prisoners” you hesitate and they shove you out of the way to get their plates full of food leaving you to wait and hope the red cross will send out some food parcels. The Hotel, is nothing as described, it is clean though, but only because the maid service take time doing their job and seem to enjoy it, it does not matter if you leave them a small reward each day or not as they do the same for all guests as I found out by speaking to others, but because they did do a decent job and for a pittance of a wage I did leave any small coins I had each morning. And I can say with out doubt “they are not thief’s” I left things out without thinking and they remained where I left them. The Bar Staff, Are brilliant and patient and will try to accommodate any drink you desire should you be going to this hotel and visit the bar.. Say hello to Mya, she is a great person and knows all there is to know about working a bar. Prostitutes, I saw two in the whole week I as there and they were not anywhere near the hotel and once they were told “No” they did not bother you. The Entertainment, Well they tried and it was a shame that the ones that were entertaining were only on for 10 minutes and the ones that weren’t entertaining were on all bloody night… The lady on the desk, All seemed to think she was “the Devils own” well she did crack a smile once or twice and even managed to say goodbye when we left, I think she is just misunderstood... or her knickers are to tight.. lol The main strip, Outside where all the shops and bars are… the first thing that came to mind was Blackpool pier and Benidorm, well never again will I venture to that point, all I got was leaflet after leaflet and people asking (No Begging) for us to eat in their restaurant, we had just eaten and left a restaurant and was approached before we had made 3 steps from the door by the guy next door asking us to eat in his place despite the fact he watched us eating, how sad is that that they have to tout for customers, just shows they need to close a few bars down to make it a decent area to make a living. Would I go to the Pliska again, I would have to be shackled and under threat of torture and prison to go there again, would I suggest it to my friends, not if I wanted to keep them as friends, would I suggest it to someone who has a family, maybe, would I suggest it to someone who wants a quite get away from it all holiday….NEVER…………… Sorry Pliska you only rate as a one star to me, but the staff they are five stars…..
Lovely

I Recently stayed at the Pliska and I found it to be a wonderful hotel. The staff were very helpful, the rooms were cleaned every day and the whole atmosphere of the hotel was very tasteful. The only problem I encountered was the lack of lightening in the corriders during the daytime. I will be returning to the Pliska and I would highly reccomend this hotel. Thankyou for helping to make my holiday a most enjoyable experience.
Please think very carefully before deciiding on the Pliska
from bridget48
Please think very carefully for deciding on the Pliska. We booked a last minute and I have to say cheap holiday here. We arrived at about 4.00 am so were tired and probably not at our best. The reception is a desk situated in a sort of cafe come small shopping mall. We were on the 7th floor which meant taking the one lift to the 5th floor, finding our way around to another lift to take us up to the 7th. There was very poor lighting an no signs. I felt very sorry of the occupants of the rooms between as the arrivals tried to find their accommodation. The room once found was not pleasing. It smelt of sewage, was tiny, had nothing at all asthetically pleasing, vertually no storage, a scruffy balcony with no partition and two tiny chairs, a bathroom where the sink area served as a shower with a drain in the floor. Come morning after deciding we would have to upgrade hotels, we ventured to the breakfast area. The smell of sewage was still evident, the food was served along a counter with a lot of pushing and shoving from other guest. There was a very limited and unapitising choice, which together with the coffee made of mud we decided to leave. After speaking to the rep and finding that we would need to spend at leave £360.00 for an upgrade for 6 nights we agreed to pay for a family room at the same hotel. This was at least of a decent size and had storage, although the balcony and bathroom arrangements were the same. The only good point about the pliska is that it is at the quieter end of town but within easy reach of the resort facilities, thus we did not need to spend any time there. The pool looked fairly inviting but was so crowded with sunbeds that we stuck with the beach, and the pool of another hotel which we paid for. There is an indoor pool with a sauna and jacussi advertised in the brochure, supposedly to help attain its supposed 3 stars. The jacussi was a bath with air jets. The pool was uninviting and murky. We did'nt venture to the sauna. One last warning; the walls are paper thin so you can literally hear everything your neigbours do i!!! Take ear plugs.
nice hotel

The pliska is a lovely hotel. It is very clean and there is regular entertainment on at the hotel with different shows and acts every few nights. The bar has a pleasant atmosphere and the drinks are very reasonably priced. The food in the restaurant was lovely and to a very good standard. It is within easy walking distance of all pubs/clubs/restaurants/ shops and the beach is only a 5 minute walk away also. The only problem i found with this hotel was with the maids. I found that after letting them into my room they had stolen my perfume and my earrings. Whilst trying to report this to the receptionist she was very rude and i found after that the hotel staff were no longer as friendly to me. Other people commented on the fact that their phones/money/clothes had gone missing, therfore if going to this hotel i would advise on keeping a close watch on your items. Despite this i had a lovely time staying at the pliska and would recommend it to others.
First the good points, this is a very nice and clean hotel with a lovely outdoor pool, now the bad points the food is really disgusting and cold, so please don't chose all inc if you have kids or you just like normal food(this comes from a family who normally eat anything... more
