just back from a week at hotel pliska...and i dont know where to start! the rooms were very basic...2 single beds, a tv, phone and fridge (which i found strange e considering they had a sign up saying food and drink in the room is forbidden). was bed and breakfast but only ate this on the first morning as now of the food was very appetising at 7am....buffet style breakfast consisting of a variety of pastas and cakes, pates and feta cheese! and i noticed that all inclusive food was the same thing every single day at breakfast lunch and dinner although the pool side resteraunts food was delicious....highly recommend chicken on the grill, chicken skewers and burgers.
the hotel and the rooms were exceptionally clean, and we had clean towels every day without fail, the maids were all lovely and seemed quite trustworthy as nothing every went missing from the room!
a major downside for me was the dangerous floors throughout the entire hotel....there was 5 accidents during my 7 days there
- an elderly man slipped in ool side toilets and broke his ribs
-2 young girls slipped by pool..1 split her head open and the other badly hurt her foot ending up with crutches for the remainder of her holiday
-a woman fell down the stairs and hurt her spin
-a woman slipped carrying her baby and bruised her thigh and side.
all could have been prevented if the flooring was safer....marble flooring through out the hotel and tiles around the pool!
the majority of staff were very friendly with excetion to 2 female members of waiting staff who were very rude! on one occasions my friend chips came with cheese...we asked for no cheese...waitress took the huff...scrapped the cheese off the top and brought them back to the table and on another occasion my last piece off food hadnt even reached my mouth and the plate was gone from under me then the waitress stood with her hand on her hip waiting for my friend to finish her meal...took the late then held her hand out and said 'you pay me now'!!! gobsmacked!!! the hotels evening entertainment was interesting....each night they had the same couple singing the same songs (dreadfully might i add) along with another 2 acts each night which were always different and highly amusing....but the singers were getting too uch to cope with!!
but all in all we had a good time in bulgaria...met alot of lovlely people some of with were staff...would higly recommend the resort but i wont be returning to this articular hotel!! and if your going to golden sands...you must try hurry ramsdens breakfasts and mamma mias pizza and pastas!!

what a holiday!! FANTASTIC !!. We must admit we were unsure about going to bulgaria at first as there was only the two of us going and we had heard so much bad feedback about the resort golden sands such as it being dirty with lots of beggers and pick pockets etc. we found none of this, Hotel Pliska was FANTASTIC the staff were always happy to help and always greeted you with a smile. Our room was basic but as we were bed and breakfast we didnt expect anymore. we had a fridge and television. Our room was cleaned everyday without fail, clean sheets and towels. i never had concerns about the maids stealing as i left my phone in the room twice and it was still there.

After reading reviews we were a bit anxious about our chosen hotel. However we were very pleasantly surprised. The hotel is 3 star so as long as you are not expecting too much it was great. The maids came every day and changed the towels and sheets regularly. The staff were generally helpful and friendly (those who weren't just struggled with the English language). Pool was a good size and a reasonable amount of sunbeds. There was a good choice of food for breakfast, smoething to suit all tastes. The hotel is conveniently located at the end of party street which means that you are close enough to all the shops bars etc but not too close so that you are disturbed by the noise. Golden Sands is a nice resort but does cater a lot for 18-30 so you may want to avoid certain areas at night if you have young children. Our kids enjoyed the hotel. My teenager nade great use of internet facilities with his mates and the small play area kept my 7 year old and his mates occupied at night. The hotel puts on nightly entertainment, it's not up to much but gave a pleasant environment to sit and drink with other people.
We would go back to this hotel if we go back to Golden Sands but we like to go somewhere different every year.
- Advice: Would not hesitate to return but watch out for 18-30
- Activities: too many good restaurants to choose from

Visited Golden Sands with a great deal of trepidation, after reading reviews that it was loud and full of prostitutes and youg people.
Therefore we were pleasently suprised to discover the hotel was really nice and clean, friendly staff. Loads of resteraunts and bars. You can get any kind of food you like. If you are english visit Hurry Ramsdens (Jerry) on Golden Sands beach, he serves real english bacon and eggs, pies and fish and chips lovely cheap food. All the people there are friendly. We never saw any bad behaviour (or prostitutes.) I would definitly return to this resort. Great holiday.

just got back from one week at golden sands. although the resort isn,t bad, the hotel pliska was about as welcoming as typhoid! the staff were very unfriendly. the jacuzzi was none exsistant, the rooms were not cleaned thoroughly enough. the toilet didnt flush, the shower head didnt fit properly, there is no privacy on the balcony, we had to keep the curtains closed all of the time, there was a scum line all around the indoor pool, the fridge in our room was rubbish, and the maids were helping themselves to a sneaky spray of my girlfriends perfume. although we did get clean towels every day, we had to use one as a foot mat. also there was a sweet wrapper under our bed the whole week we was there. ( not ours). i would not recommend this hotel to anyone. you have been warned!

For the little amount paid for this hotel it was ok. The location is right in the heart of the resort so it’s very loud and occasionally there were violent drunk people in the hotel so I’m not sure if it is appropriate for children.
If you are unfortunate to land in Golden sands on holiday then I’m sure you will realise that the staff are no friendlier than everyone else in Bulgaria, as is not friendly or helpful at all. The entertainment is really loud and REALLY rubbish and goes on all night, but the food for breakfast is ok and actually for the tiny amount of money we paid it was very good.
You are literally in the town too, so not hard to drunkenly stagger back to the hotel.

I have just returned from a fantastic holiday in Pliska hotel. The hotel rooms were basic but very clean, and maids were trustworthy, with a small tip they decorated your bed.
The staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough to help. I admit after reading comments people had wrote about the hotel I was concerned but I’m delighted to say I didn’t find many was true although the drains did smell quite bad but that hardly ruined my holiday.
I would say golden sands is for the younger generation but we had all ages and every one enjoyed them self.
If you like a good night life and clubs you will enjoy yourself.
The beach was a bit cramped but still beautiful. The thing I was most pleased about was the pool as it was so big and clean, I would advise to use the mineral pool after a day in the sun. I would be happy to return
Ps. I didn’t see many prostitutes!

First the good points, this is a very nice and clean hotel with a lovely outdoor pool, now the bad points the food is really disgusting and cold, so please don't chose all inc if you have kids or you just like normal food(this comes from a family who normally eat anything going). The staff were not very pleasant especially when they found out you were English, I think there was only one waiter that actually smiled at us, most of the foreign guests were also quiet rude to english, we found out mid week that this hotel is used as a 18-30's hotel by the Germans, Russians, Romanians and other nationalities. Do not use the indoor pool, my husband went in twice and had sickness and diarrhoea later on in the day, my 3 children got what can only be described as a peeling skin(not from the sun as they spent most time in the indoor pool) and weeping sores on there legs, arms and faces which has cleared up a week after getting home and bathing the skin in clean water. Nothing at all for Kids to do apart from outdoor pool. We would not recommend this Hotel to English guest.
