Pliska Hotel

This is the first time I have visited Bulgaria’s beach resorts and it will certainly be my last!
The hotel was nice and clean, but as far as the resort was concerned - too big a resort and not enough tourists. Daytime entertainment was poor, nowhere to go to watch a film, etc. My biggest concern for this ever growing resort is if they want to keep tourists coming they seriously need do a "sweep up" of the prostitutes. On several occasions I saw these girls offering their bodies for 100 leva (approx £30) to young boy and feeling them up to. I thought this was disgusting.
The food for the first couple of nights was ok, but everything seemed to taste the same, no variety whatsoever. However, I can understand why people holiday here..... Cheap booze and food, which I can say was the only plus side.
Myself and my boyfriend hired a car for 4 days and drove 8 hours to the capital of Sofia. FANTASTIC!!! We stayed in a youth hostel at the cost of £10 per night per room and we had a lovely time. If any tourists are thinking of going on a city break DEFO go to Sofia, its lovely. But as far as the beach resorts are concerned a big thumbs down.
Balkan holidays were a joke. Granted we paid only £240 for the fortnight, but the level of customer service was appalling. I myself worked for a tour operator the size of Balkan Holidays and if I knew that any of my colleagues treated guests in this manner, I would have been very disappointed. The rep turned up for the welcome meeting and granted he did push the trips, this is of course a reps main source of income. However, after this meeting that was the last time I spoke to him. Many a time I would see him walking down resort and I would say hello and he would blank me, complete rudeness!!! When completing my CSR on the plane home I did point out these matters but Balkan did not follow up my concerns.
All I can say about this company is they do need to seriously invest in some British reps to balance things out.
