On first view, I assumed the worst; however this small hotel is one to be recommended. The food was good, the staff friendly and the rooms clean. The free extras were in my opinion excellent; I won’t say what they were because it will be a nice surprise when you get... more

Fantastic relaxing Hotel
Hotel was excellent, staff were friendly and helpful, Can't fault the hotel at all, but do not book the apartments, although they are clean they are not 4 star and are not within hotel grounds. They are one street back from the Hotel and the sea front and have no views. Once again the hotel is perfect on all counts, location, staff everything.
very disappointed
Just returned from 5 days at tropicana and disappointed We know the area well and have eaten in the hotels' Mango restaurant previously. By chance we were given the best room in the hotel (406) as the hotel was almost empty. We booked half-board - bad mistake!! The quality of the food at both breakfast and dinner were poor - particularly breakfast. for example - powdered/concentrated orange juice mixed in a bucket of cold water from bar tap and then poured into juice dispenser! The staff were friendly and the rooms very clean. however, although refurbished some 4 years ago, hotel looks very tired and is probably existing on the reputation of the food at its' adjoining Mango restaurant, which is excellent.
Perfect!!
Have just returned from this hotel,I stayed for a week with my daughter. The hotel is well situated with a lovely pool across the pavement is the beach ,the rooms are very clean with air con and a ceiling fan.Breakfast was varied and a lot of choice -cooked and cold with help yourself buffet ant tea and coffee, there is a fridge in the room with free soft drinks on arrival .We could not fault the hotel at all-towels changed daily !plenty of room round the pool and no need to put towels down at 5am in the morning!!plenty of restaurants to eat at all within walking distance .
worst hotel ever
Avoid at all costs. Food inedible we had to eat elsewhere for most of our stay. No insulation between rooms you can hear every word spoken in the next room
Wonderful Tropicana, a grown up kinda place
As a mature couple, we have just had a wonderful 9 day stay at the Hotel Tropicana, in lovely sunny room, directly overlooking the beach. Evening dining is a great experience within the popular Carihuela Mango Grill restaurant. The food is excellent, well prepared and not the usual mass production, bland tourist hotel food. This hotel is more for grown ups, not a lot for kids except the pool. Its quite a sophisticated place really . Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Just one detracting feature, there are a few steps both into hotel and into restaurant and so could prove difficult to negotiate for some.
definately not a 4* hotel
How disappointed we were with this hotel which is the worst 4*hotel I have ever stayed in. Everything about it was sub standard. Room, small and dull. The bathrom too small to mention. Food very poor, cold on arrival with very little choice. Breakfast bland and boring with no cooked English selection. As for their description of a la carte and grill room as promoted on their web site we never saw its existance. THe pool area is very small with cats crawling all over the loungers and matresses. We are well travelled tourist s but I could never recomend this hotel. However two plus points the weather was very nice and we met a charming couple from Cardiff.
Excellent Choice
My family have just spent a week at this hotel and enjoyed our stay very much. The rooms were spacious and clean, we had clean sheets and towels every day! The location was first class along with the breakfast. Although the hotel was on the beach front it was quiet and relaxing. The bar area was littered with top quality comfortable furniture which added to a relaxing atmosphere in the hotel at the end of the day. The pool area although small was never crowded and there were plenty of available sun beds. Overall a most enjoyable stay and I would recommend this hotel.
Loved hotel tropicana
I loved this hotel. My boyfriend surprised me for my birthday and took me here for a weekend away, and it is where we got engaged (right on the beach). From the outside it may look a little under average but once inside it is lovely. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and I did not find anything to complain about when it came to this hotel. The only thing I would say is that it would not really be ideal to stay here for more than a few days as the pool is very very small, but for a weekend it is fantastic. The breakfast Buffet (included in the price) could not have been better and the restaurant itself is magnificent. It is like eating outside as it is full of plants and trees and is very romantic. Also the views from the hotel are amazing as it is right on the beach and I could not have been more relaxed if I tried. After reading another review I would agree that if you had a car with you parking would be an absolute nightmare as the streets are very narrow, ideal solution don't hire a car - walk! its too nice a place to drive about. Anyone who has a bad thing to say about this hotel is crazy - I loved it and I will definitely be going back.
Trashicana
I reserved a room, on arrival I was told that room was not available. The room I got was dirty and smelled bad. I next room was no better. The third room change was still sub standard. The hotel would not let me out of my three day reservation. No thanks TRASHICANA. Let the wrecking ball fly.
Aged but still going
Older hotel (one of the first along this area of the Costa del Sol) which shows signs of its age but nice setting in a tropical, south seas theme. Right on the beach in a quieter neighborhood (about 1-1/2 km from the center of Torremolinos) but yet tightly congested. Finding a place to park is always a touchy situation - cars are bunched into narrow spaces on the street; difficult to maneuver. No easy access at the entrance - we had to lug our suitcases from the sreet to the lobby. Rooms were average but clean. The Hotel ran out of soap and was unable to get a resupply during the entire two nights we stayed. We were issued shampoo lotion for use as soap. The morning buffets (included in price) were very good with an excellent selection of Continental type fare to include eggs, hot ham, cold cuts, pastries, fruits, etc. All-in-all, an average 3-star Hotel which is aged but is still going.
