just come back from ascos had a great time. the food, staff where all friendly every night there was a different theme for the food the first night was chinese then italian and so on. the bread and butter pudding with custard is lovely.the only downfall is the location not much around but we went to relax anywhen. i would say that it is for adults only as not much to do for children and i would think they would easily get bored.the day and night entertainment by louisa and dimitri are good but the other entertainment was a bit non exciting need to review it. all in all great value for money and would go again.

NOT Adults Only

Aug 2011, Disappointed

This hotel is advertised as Adults Only in the summer months but I was advised that this is now not the case and has not been the case for at least two years.
The pool has a very steep slope which decends from 3ft to almost 8ft in a very short distance and the small area between 3-5ft is full of kids. I only went into the main pool once (I usually go into the pool every day when on holiday) but I could not enjoy a decent swim so settled for the small indoor pool.
Some areas of this hotel are a bit tired (roofing over bar and games area was tatty) but if you take away the kids running around the bar, entertainment areas, etc, this would have been a nice relaxing holiday. Whilst I was there games equipment was vandalised by kids staying at the hotel.
On a more positive note, the evening restaurant is extremely efficient and well run, with a variety of foods which are always served hot (unlike many all inclusive hotels I have experience in the past). Also I must congratulate Louise and Demitri (the entertainment staff) for handling all the daily events and hosting a great show every night - they were magnificent and very hard working.
Shops, tavernas and bus into Pafhos are only a 5 min walk away and bus runs every 15 mins til late so very user friendly, and only two euros for an all-day pass.
The boat trips from Pafhos Harbour are highly recommended.

Just back from 2 weeks holiday at above hotel, staff, rooms, and food excellent, onlycomplaint we have was we booked for our 40th wedding anniversary, when booking we were told this was an adult only hotel, on arriving we found a lot of children, the rep. for our holiday firm was not helpful at all, considering all at the meeting told him this holiday was sold to us as adult only.

We liked the hotel very much, great food. The air con in our room worked great. Room was cleaned every day with clean towels, sheets changed every three days. Coral bay beech was an easy 20 minute walk it was not big but nice and quiet toilets there and small cafe, cost 7.50 euro for 2 beds and an umbrella. Excellent bus service 2 euros each you can get on and off bus as many times as you like. This used to be an adult only hotel but children are allowed now, when we were there, there was only a few very well behaved children which was great! We will be booking to go again soon.

Great holiday

Thought the hotel was wonderful for a relaxing holiday. Not a good choice if you want a decent beach on site, but there is a lovely beach at Coral Bay within a 20 min walk which is also a short ride on the great local bus service. Staff were superb, hopefully they can keep up the standard for the whole summer. Although we thought the hotel was child-free, there were a few, but none of them a problem. Breakfast and lunch is held in the poolside bar and the main restaurant with stunning views is kept purely for dinner and with a smart dress code in place it made it more of an event. Only down side was the evening entertainment. Although the small entertainment team tried hard, the professional acts selected to perform were below par. There are bars and restaurants within a five minute walk where the evening entertainment was better if you wanted it.
All in all I really feel as if I have had a holiday! Well done Ascos Beach.

Great holiday at The Ascos

We returned from Cyprus with very fond memories of the Ascos Hotel. To be honest, after reading the reviews other holidaymakers had put on we were not looking forward to the holiday as much as we should have been. The bad reviews turned out to be unfounded as far as we were concerned. The hotel was nice and clean, the rooms were cleaned evey day and contrary to what we had read on the review sites, the rooms were acceptably decorated. The bathroom was ready for a refurb, but this was only a few cracked tiles and discoloured grouting.
The food was really fantastic, they had a different theme each night, Cypriot dishes, Mediterranean, BBQ, carvery etc. There was lots of choice at meal times and the food was fab!!.
We went all inclusive, and were glad we did. The drinks were pentiful, there was even a waiter service to the poolside sun beds.
The pool area was kept very clean and tidy, the staff were friendly and helpful, in fact I don't have a bad word to say about the Ascos Hotel.
The beach was a 20 minute walk. There are bus stops 7 or 8 minutes walk from the hotel. Buses are very cheap, just 1 Euro will take you into Paphos town.
All in all I would definitely reccommend this hotel. I don't know what the problem was late last year with some of the reviews I have read, but they certainly seem to have sorted everything out now.

The hotel is a little on the tired side, a bit old in some areas, especially the sea front bungalows but the rooms were all in a good condition and cleaned everyday. Our net curtains had a bit of mold on them but they were hidden away behind the curtains.
The pool was very nice and the gym was fairly well equipped. The sauna if you can be bothered to maintain it for a while can generate a decent experience but takes more work than it should.
The reception area is nice and airy and the evening restaurant is well done. The pool bar does well and the casual eating restaurant serves it's purpose.
The staff were generally very good and the food and drink certainly up to scratch.
I've seen a lot of reviews having a go at this hotel but we had a good holiday here and it looked like everybody else at the hotel was having a good time as well.
The entertainment wasn't all that good but we tend to steer away from that sort of thing anyway but it appeared well attended.
The hotel was not rowdy despite the availability of all inclusive alcohol.
Remember to pack decent clothes for the evening meal as there is a dress code that will be adhered to (I turned up in my usual holiday shorts so had to purchase some long trousers locally so I could use the restaurant in the evening)
All in all we had a good holiday and the hotel was certainly a big part of that. Would recommend it heartily but i'd say hire a car!

Grossly Overstated !!!!

Jan 2011, rainbow

The Accomadation was in need of a massive refurbishment to bring it up to a 4STAR!
The bathroom :shower--you have to climb in the bath to shower: it is dangerous.. broken tiles.slippy floor as no hard mat for the floor...
The toilet pipe work needs attention..
The washbasin well used...
The airconditioning did not work..( so you had smells)
The sheets on the bed were old the blankets needed washing, just appalling.
The chairs on veranda needed cleaning.
As we were all inclusive, the food was just poor quality with little choice.
An extremely bad holiday leaving us with bad memories, never to return to the Ascos Hotel..

We had been to the Ascos hotel before when it was a 4Star Hotel, now it is a 1Star Hotel, refurbishment was required to the Bathrooms..We arrived to an empty hotel bar 6 people where was everybody we asked at home not in the Ascos...It stayed that way for 2 weeks as the regular staff had gone home as the Ascos was closing down, pity they didn't tell us, the people already sitting it out said go back don't come in...
So the skeleton staff proceded to give us the disgusting food. As we were all inclusive it had changed to basic food programme, we complained nothing was done, we asked the Rep to come in,stayed the same NO CHOICE...
tHE food was appalling and was sent back on several occasions to their kitchen..........
We will never go to the Ascos Hotel again..

The Ascos Coral Bay Hotel @ PAPHOS, CYPRUS produced the worst holiday that we have suffered in forty years plus. We arrived at the Hotel on 17/12/2010. There was no movement of customers around..when we approached the reception desk. We booked in... handed our passports to the person on the desk. We were given a key to the room allocated to us. We then dragged our cases to the lift.
On arrival at our rooms..We found the accommodation very tired and worse for wear. In fact the whole rooms needed
a complete refurbishment. However, we looked around for a wecome pack after our journey...It would appear that one would not be available to us under any circumstances.
It should be noted that we booked an all in holiday with ASCOS CORAL BEACH HOTEL. We decided to return to the
GROUND FLOOR Reception Area....reason... We wished to know what time the Dining Room opened. However, as we walked along the long and wide walkway towards the Athena Restaurant we were met by a number of residents with their arms raised to 90 degrees to their bodies as if to push us back...shouting go-back..go-back. They expressed that we should not stay...because what food there was... had been ruined and not fit for human consumption. In fact there was no chef that could be described as such. Everything appeared to have been boiled...where in many cases it should have been fried or roasted.
Clearly...there was a big problem. One of the men was walking around with a sandwich it appeared to be at least (3CM THICK) this is what they have given to us for the past THREE DAYS. Personnaly we thought that they were having a LAUGH. Needless to say, we suffered the same path. It would appear that it had been the intention of the HOTEL MANAGEMENT to CLOSE THE HOTEL TO REFURBISH THE BATHROOM/WC'S. However, there appeared not to be any cash to do the Works. So...the Various Managers and Normal Staff had disappeared at that time. However, it would appear that a QUICK SCRATCH KITCHEN STAFF HAD BEEN INSTALLED...IT WOULD APPEAR THAT THEY WERE FROM BULGARIA. The proof of the PUDDING IS IN THE EATING. SORRY TO SAY...THE FOOD PREPARED WAS DISGUSTING. To repeat much of it was BOILED were it should have been roasted or fried. The customers were just not eating it. However, two of the guests following three or fours days of ruined meals decided to ask the Chef to provide what had been requested by the majority of the guests. The meeting with the Chef was arranged on his TERMS and at a LOCATION decided upon by him. The two elderly GUESTS A LADY & A GENT met the CHEF in a KITCHEN AREA full of EQUIPMENT. THE POINTS WERE RAISED BY THE TWO. The CHEF BECAME HOSTILE TO THE TWO GUESTS AND ATTEMPTED TO JUMP OVER SOME COOKING APPARATUS IN HIS QUEST TO THREATEN THEM WITH VIOLENT BEHAVIOUR. THE TWO GUESTS DECIDED THAT THE BEST WAY TO DEAL WITH THE SITUATION WAS TO LEAVE THE AREA. MUCH LATER INTO OUR HOLIDAY WE NOTICED SOME CHANGE... IT WAS JUST BEFORE WE LEFT FOR HOME...THE FOOD HAD STARTED TO GET BETTER...BUT ONLY BECAUSE WE HAD TO COMPLAIN. CLEARLY MOST OF OUR 14 DAY HOLIDAY WAS RUINED BY POOR MEALS AND A HOSTILE SO CALLED CHEF. THIS WAS OUR SECOND HOLIDAY AT THE HOTEL...SO WE EXPECTED THE SAME KIND OF SERVICE....WE MISSED A MAJOR PART OF OUR HOLIDAY IN FACT 12 DAYS...DUE TO AN INDIVIDUAL EMPLOYEE.
WE THINK THAT SOME FORM OF COMPENSATION SHOULD BE FORTHCOMING UNDER SUCH BAD CIRCUMSTANCES THAT COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED. IN FACT WE CALLED OUR REP IN AFTER JUST TWO DAYS..A REPORT WAS PREPARED AND SERVED ON THE RECEPTION DESK. THE REST IS HISTORY.

Excellent Time, brilliant holiday

I have just come back from this Hotel. My family and I had an excellent time. Food Great lots of choice, Staff excellent, very friendly and helpfull.
There was no childrens entertainment or Kids club and no Kids Meals. No kids meals was great for me as my daughter ate healthier meals/other things, rather than sticking to chips and chicken nuggets. I went with my four year old so the pool was enough entertainment for her and the kids swings and play equipment was excellent new and safe
The pool is very deep in the middle so sometimes the shallow end was a bit full. The pool, inside and out, was very clean. Although it is advertised no Life Guard on Duty there is usually one walking around the pool.
Lots of excellent entertainment in the evening, very varied, bingo and quiz is standard.
The hotel is quiet and about 5 mins walk up a hill into Coral Bay Strip.
To get to Paphos you have to hire a car, or go by taxi or use the local bus, the bus goes regularly every 15 mins and the return bus from paphos is 11pm. A bus timetable is available from Reception.
The Reception staff were great and very helpful. The management of the hotel are very visable and approachable, they even do a meet and greet which is excellent.

Great Holiday

We went to the Ascos on our honeymoon and really enjoyed our stay. We arrived at about 7 at night, went straight up to our rooms, dumped our suitcases and went for some dinner. We were very surprised with the quality of the food, we had been all inclusive before and didnt enjoy it at all. The food was fantastic, a great variety each meal time, there is something for everyone and it is themed each night. The only thing I didnt really like was that the moment you finished ur food the staff would clear ur plate, most nights I hadnt even finished my mouthful before the plate was whipped away (this could have been because it was quiet) As we went in April it was quite quiet but it was great, you didnt need to rush to get a sun lounger, you could go down at 2 o'clock n there were still plenty. The rooms were fine not what you would expect a 4* to be they were basic but very clean. The only complaints would be that the air con didnt work, the bathroom was very basic n needed updating and our tv blew up!!! The staff are fantastic and are very helpful, you dont even need to get up to get a drink as they take ur order from ur table and are very prompt when you have finished your drink!
The entertainment could be better, bingo and quiz every night to start off with was good but the outside entertainment was lacking, the man who sings on a monday night was very out of tune both mondays and sang quite old songs that I dint know and he didnt grab the audience who left halfway through his performance!! The other nights it was dancers or singers (most of the same people performing each night)
I would recommened going into Paphos 1.50 for the bus that were every 15 mins!!
Would definately go again.
